Mate great video if people are just starting out resin is a minefield. One thing I would add is like you said amazing clear cast is food safe as a clear resin but that may change if people add dyes or mica powders to it. Looking forward to the next one mate top job 👍🏻

This has been incredibly helpful. Very very well explained. I've never used resins before, but I'm interested in using it to make heels (high heels). I intend to make two types: Heels that will be covered with leather and clear heels that will have decorative elements within. The cured resin must be strong enough to support body weight and drillable. Can you make any recommendations? Thanks again. I will be checking out your other videos on the subject.

It depends where you are based not all brands are available everywhere. I would go for epoxy resin rather than poly as its easier to work with. Resin will harden very much but not all resins may be suitable for your application. You need to find one that is not brittle when it hardens. That should be in a technical sheet of the resin but I would also ask the manufacturer for that info. I have not used all the resins out there and there is a massive choice. I can recommend resins from Resin Pro - link in the description. They do have a wide range but I would probably go for the deep pour ones 5cm or even 10cm. They will cure longer but they are more or less self degassing, however a bit of help from resin pressure pot would make them perfect.

I want to do 5 of my daughter’s wedding bouquets that are now 4 weeks dried. I read I can do the epoxy and resin to preserve and even gain color in some instances. The resin and epoxy are not equivalent in measurement? My plan is to quickly dip and hang the flowers upside down but will the liquid be too thick to dip the bouquets? I will do this outdoor with low humidity and temp 74 degrees US. I appreciate your thoughts of my first time attempt. 😅
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 6 ай бұрын
I don't think it will work like that unfortunately. Most likely you will ruin the flowers. You can do a pour, make a block of resin and flowers inside. Epoxy is a type of resin.

Would have expected a comparison on these different types of resins. How clear, price difference etc. Just ordered ResinPro and soon will get GlassCast. So far haven't found one I would be totally satisfied with. The main issue is with transparent very thick casting seems yellowish.

@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 9 ай бұрын
I can't imagine how you could do this in the garden. Starting with unpredictable moisture levels in the air, wind, potential dust, dirt getting to your casting and keeping the temperature right about 20-23 degrees Celsius. You would need some sort of a large tent with heating I can imagine. Difficult job I have to say.

Sorry not sure what you bought exactly. Have you bought resin from ResinPro? If so the mixing ratio is always on the bottles/containers. They also add instructions to the parcel. But for some reason if that's not there then it will be on the website you bought it from in the description of the product.

Thank you. Yes it's all coming in the future videos👍 but I'll give you some info on Royal Palm resin. The unique feature is that it's viscosity is close to waters. Even part A is very fluid and after mixing is like water. That means it will penetrate moulds and castings easly and the air bubbles can escape with ease do no need for a pressure pot 👍

Hi I am considering a small business idea with Epoxy from my mums garage in England, one of my main concerns is the temperature. Have you considered a thermostat controlled heat mat that you can rest the mould on as it cures? They are used in vivariums for exotic animals and also underfloor heating. I was thinking as the heat source comes from the bottom up it could even assist in getting rid of bubbles?
@CasualDIY
@CasualDIY 2 жыл бұрын
Hmm that could be problematic. It could speed up the curing time of your resin🤔 its an interesting thing to explore tho. Let me know how you get on with that. I do see few issues with that but you don't know how well it will work until you try it
