I have never done resin before, just received my kit today. I have a tiny handwritten note my Mom wrote for me before she passed, I was starting a new project in my life and she wrote something wishing me the best and giving me her support. I treasure that little piece of paper like nothing else! And I thought of doing a bookmark in resin, and put the note there so I could have it with me always and preserve it, your video helped me avoid messing up!!! Thank you! I will practice first with something else though! 😄

Instead of sealing the printout, I paint the back of my printout with two layers of white acrylic paint (dry between layers). So despite the resin soaking into the paper, the printout does not get that grey look from light going right though it. The white acrylic on the back helps reflect the light. The photo ends up looking like it didn't soak up any resin.

Some ideas: use a craft knife instead of scissors. If your image is graphic and outlined, make a wider stroke so you can cut into it. If not, make a softer, faded edge on your image, maybe graduating it into the resin color, so the trim blends in. Or you could do that after printing, with a marker or pastel or something. :)

This was an awesome tutorial, thanks so much for showing the process step by step. I wanted to use this to turn my stickers into keychains and charms and will be using this with my sticker paper and just higher quality printer paper. I have a question though. I see that you're mixing and handling resin without any safety equipment, and have been worried about using resin for the effects it might have on crafters with years of possible handling and inhalation. Have you run into this issue? You obvi are a pro at using the resin but for a beginner would you recommend using some PPE like gloves and a mask? I always worry and have heard other KZbinrs warn about the dangers of long time work with resin. Thanks again for the tutorial, it's awesome 😎
@ResinBelle
@ResinBelle 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. I do recommend ppe. In some of my older videos I didn't wear gloves because of sensory issues and have since found latex free ones that work for me. Resin is not especially dangerous for your health in most cases but you can become sensitized to it over time so best to protect yourself and work in a well be ventilated area, mask up etc.

secret squirrel tip from an ex teaching assistant who had to laminate a LOT of paper...always cut the paper shapes out first before laminating, you are less likely to have gaps as it complete encases that piece of paper, and it also means you can reuse the paper for other things so less paper waste too!

@@MileyonDisney I've always seen crafts as an area we can come together and just have fun. No need to inject politics. All that needed to be said was that your bottle from the Dollar Tree has 3 ounces. The bottle is small so it's not surprising that someone would think that it had less. I doubt they meant any harm.

These look amazing😍. did you use normal printing paper ? I've tried using printed art in my resin before and it always made the ink run.

Yes it's just regular printer paper and inkjet printer. When doing this technique it's pretty important to allow your print to dry thoroughly before you heat set it. Otherwise it's like sitting on a freshly painted bench. After it dries and it's heat set the glue will seal the ink so the resin doesn't soak in

@@ResinBelle I can use this process for actual photographs as well, yes? First time I used a varnish, painted on, and it worked perfectly! Second time, not so well. The ink just faded away within 2 minutes. I think I only put 2 coats, as opposed to the first time I put 3. But, I'm still a bit leary.. 😳 This seems sooo much easier!! Please help.. Lol, thank you in advance! 🙏

@@annamarierotondo3394 you should be able to use this process for photos. Always good to do a small test before doing a big project to be sure.

does it have to be that glue brand specifically ?
@ResinBelle

You can use just about any glue but I have found this glue to work best. With other kinds of glue you will need to do some tests to see how many layers you will need to add for best results

Thank you so much!! I have never done anything with resin. I got interested when I saw a video of something someone made and I fell in love with the Final project. Thank you for showing a beginner how to do it.

Excellent! I'm glad I didn't invest in too much mod podge, and that I have plenty of tacky glue, because I do miniatures kits! You are a treasure!
