Great video, they have some of the newly renovated units open now. My parents stayed in the 1000 building last weekend and enjoyed the remodel.

At least when you pay those maintenance fees it seems like Marriott is using them to make upgrades. Every time we have been at the Waiohai in Poipu they have some project ongoing.

Would not be surprised if the focus of removing the kitchen island, etc. is to make the villas feel more spacious. The villas themselves were always the main problem with the overarching design of Shadow Ridge, both Villages and Enclaves. Small rooms, low eight-foot ceilings, claustrophobic feeling. A real strategic blunder, and probably a big part of why it sold poorly such that the build-out had to be abandoned. Heck, when they originally rolled out this resort, I think they intended for it be the Grand Vista of the west coast. No mas. I do hope the renovations help, although there is only so much that can be done with the existing footprint of those rooms.
