A true Yogi will tell you that it is impossible to separate The Hindu religion from the poses used in Yoga. Yoga means “to yoke” (with the ‘other’). Each pose is worship to a Hindu god.

I know a man who is undoubtably a Christian - a leader at my former church - who practises Yoga. I discerned that when he was down over a recurring knee and back injury and could not go running any longer, that he was being challenged by God to give up what had become an idol. I am half his age in the faith and so rather than 'rebuke' his desperation to be running again, I simply prayed that God would reveal His heart on the real issue. This man dug his heels in and I had seen him rail against the gentleness of the Holy Spirit previously in other areas. He was simply desperate to be running again and rather than accept he couldn't, he started Yoga. As soon as I heard this I knew he had hardened his own heart. It is as if "God won't heal me so I will do this instead". Even trying to Christianise Yoga is folly, for the Holy and the profane cannot be mixed. I remembered reading Death of a Guru and the warnings he gave about Yoga to the church - this guy had a first hand knowledge of such things way beyond the average person who might think that being stretched into the form of a snake or a frog is in any way harmless. My son, when he was 5 years old, came home from school one day and told me that they were being told to become like various animals. I asked him who the teacher was and I was not surprised to hear it was the long hared hippie who had already attacked my daughter (who was 9) over her faith in Jesus. I went down that school, spoke to the head, got it stopped for everybody - they were indeed practising Yoga. That teacher was shortly after removed from the school and I believe it was God who removed him. We so need to keep a close eye on our children both in schools and in the church when they go into their groups. Kundalini is something I saw creep into another former fellowship - the emptying of the mind, visualisation, fire tunnels, transferable anointing, sexual writhing on the carpet, orgasmic sounding women, the works. That got in through a series of connections to Todd Bentley and those who commissioned him as prophets and apostles. One of those people was a certain Bill Johnson; a hero of the faith and seen as beyond reproach by the leaders at my first fellowship. If he said somebody or something was from or of God then it did not need to be tested. The church is as much of a minefield as the world - and will be increasingly so as we near the end. I despise both strange fire and the powerless, prideful form of religion that is devoid of the life of the Holy Spirit. Both are counterfeits.

As a born again and Spirit filled believer as a Pentecostal and have been involved in the Charismatic movement, the Charismatic movement, I believe, has lost it's way in their understanding of the gifts of the Spirit. Modern Charismatics are out of control. Oh my gosh! Yes! I’m a massage therapist and was saved the same month I enrolled in school. I 100% believe He purposely caused me to go into this field with a very real tension about this subject. I pushed back on it every single chance I saw. I still hold space for people to receive from the simple bodywork and Yahweh .. yet I do not demand or expect a “spiritual experience” for any one. I’m keenly aware there are therapists that submit to “other” gods. It’s a simple submission to God. No bells, no whistles. Yeah, I’ve wondered about the spiritual massage peeps… but I leave that up to Him to work out and don’t compare myself. I won’t allow even the clients to influence my work toward that end… but I may pray with them or for them. Really depends on where they are coming from. I’ll boldly pray for non believers if prompted. Sometimes quiet praying in tongues. What a privilege I’ve been given to impact people’s life this way.

Another interesting point to address is the mantra/style worship that has been happening in so many churches. The constant repetition of words and phrases that obviously affects the mind in a "Hypnotic" way. We don't have that phenomenon in scriptures, but it is widely accepted today. Jesus himself said that our communication with God should not be done through repetition like this, yet many churches accept it because it is attracts people.

@@TheWayWalker If they quit doing it, they will sell less records and make less money. It's amazing how people do not realize that money is such a sensitive topic for many churches. Poverty also is thrown to the State responsibility, because it seems the Church is only responsible about people's spiritual lives. This Inspired scripture, spoken by Jesus himself, seems not to have importance in the evangelical community: "44 Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? 45 Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. 46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal."(Matthew 25)

@@EvangelhoImigrante I think it's worth noting that a detailed study of what "meditating on scripture" actually meant in the Hebrew was, among other things, "to mutter" and repeat over and over again to oneself. Very different than the self emptying of eastern meditation. However, to call it a chant or mantra may not be far off. Ever seen contemporary Jewish prayer? I agree with you about certain aspects of worship culture today, but while it's not always my favorite style, I can say for a fact that the innovation that their worship sets brought to the Church changed the depth and purpose of musical worship for me forever in an irreplaceable way- it called the focus to the heart of worship: a Person, not an idea- again and again and again like no other liturgy I've ever seen in evangelical Christianity. Of course the innovation becomes the norm, and then it becomes overused or abused even, but one thing I will respectfully disagree with you on is that "mantra" or repetition is mostly a bad thing with only a little good, as opposed to mostly a good thing with a little bad when it comes from hype/wrong motives. EDIT: I think perhaps you mean charismatic circles? Evangelical circles are usually pretty scripturally focused. As for your money comment, I hate seeing trends become moneymakers, but their worship style did not come from money- it came from youth conferences and worship sets with people so sold out for God that they didn't care if their performance broke the fourth wall and the rules of musical performance.

@Revvcast Ah, gotcha. Well to your point then, which came first: esoteric circles, or communion with God? I appreciate your thoughts! May I push just a little more though? You made 3-4 three points that were all pejorative: Mantra-like hypnotic repetition, that not being found in scripture, Jesus's teachings going against it, and quite possibly that this is now used to make money and milked like a cash cow. I detest sparkly worship services with singers who look like giant personalities revving up a crowd, and my skin crawls when good lyrics being sung are combined with a music video that screams celebrity.

I, too, would like to see more people rise up against the “declaring” and “decreeing” style prayers. There is none of that in the New Testament. When Jesus taught His disciples (and us) how to pray, he did not say to decree and declare your way to victory. Those are witchcraft prayers. Any time we are manipulating other people, their behavior, declaring our will or “decreeing” what we want to see happen, that is witchcraft. The NAR should be avoided, along with all the associated practices. When I was first saved, I had a friend who had been Christian a long time and she wicked me right into the “prophetic” movement and NAR. It took years for me to get out, but the Lord delivered me from all of that and showed me the error of those ways. What started my journey was finding out that Rick Joyner was knighted in the Knights of Malta. Then all the chips started to fall. Bless you.

@Hello Berean You don't believe the leaders and members of Bethel are Christians? Nonsense. Please forgive my bluntness, brother/sister, but let's just talk about your conjecture that they're not Christian. 1. Jesus is the Son of God. 2. Jesus is fully man and fully God. 3. Jesus is one with the Father and the Holy Spirit, in perfect hyperstatic union. 4. Born from a virgin. 5. Crucified, dead and buried for 3 days. 6. Rose again 3 days later, was seen by many witnesses, and ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God. 7. Salvation is a gift of the Grace of God, not earned, but given only by the (also) gift of faith to call upon the name of Jesus Christ, repent and turn your heart from sin and fallen ways, and continue to walk fully reliant on God's presence to live day by day. 8. As the redeemed children of God, we are called to live like Christ and rely on the Holy Spirit to give us the ability to walk as such... learning from the God-breathed words of the Bible and building one another up as Body of Christ until it is fully matured, to continue to turn away from sin and put off the old nature. 9. As for righteousness (never earned but still an active participation with God's redemption in our hearts), we are dead to sin and alive in Christ and are to "put off the old man." 10. Made in God's image, children of God, redeemed by the Blood, maturing and growing in Him, never becoming God nor any such deification of humanity, but being made day by day into a more perfect image of the Bridegroom. Again to hit that heresy- NOT ever becoming God (little gods video quote still misapplied lol). 11. Jesus is the only way to eternal life with God, and He is our only hope of salvation from eternal death and destruction... Let's see... that cover the basics of what a Christian is? Do your research. Read statements of faith. It's very well displayed. And it's not a mystery, nor is it a secret answer their thronging, duped masses just don't realize - it's not some cryptic "aha there's the quote " you'll find in a few videos that "prove" they don't believe the real gospel 🙃. You can make exceptions to the rule with odd behavior and troublesome quotes, but they're *still* taken out of the much, much, larger (decades old) context of not just words, but also actions that do help balance some of the more problematic-sounding quotes, *and* absolutely demonstrate a tested and tried dedication to Jesus Christ above all else. If my tone is affronting, I'm sorry. It's because I read your astonishing words as poorly researched trolling at worst, or concerned, good-hearted but misleading slander at best. I assume you believe and mean very well and want other brothers and sisters in Christ to avoid the dangers of false gospels. Even if I disagree, thank you for caring, Hello Berean.

So many words are twisted and become confused in both believers and non believers minds. Religion, religious, church - for instance - all need to be qualified and defined when we speak those words, for each might well mean something different to different people. There are probably hundreds of others. To avoid confusion, we find ourselves speaking clunky and cluttered sentences in evangelism, which is frustrating. There has been a great deal of confusion sown into our language both inside and outside the church. What I know I mean might mean something completely different to somebody else.

As @christincommon5496 points out, yoga does mean "to yoke" one's individual soul to some Hindu god or the "One" (Brahma, if you prefer.) You know, "Don't be unequally yoked with unbelievers." As a Christian, I realize that Christ is the only way to union with the Father. Exercise can't do that. I've been a martial artist for most of my life. I've learned how to stretch and breathe correctly. I don't call what I do "hatha yoga," "pranayama," or "chi gung" (qigong). When I bless someone with a good deed, I don't call what I am doing "karma yoga." I enjoy doing good to the glory of God. Frankly, I don't know nor care to know what "god names" are associated with these exercises. The names of these exercises are pretty much just English names that resemble what the stretch looks like. It is important, though, to be careful. One time someone saw me stretching and greeted me with "Namaste." Imagine her surprise when I responded with "Peace of Christ." This prompted a friendly theological discussion. I don't do yoga. God certainly knows that I am not worshiping any Hindu god, although I do these exercises privately these days. I certainly wouldn't want to stumble any believer. The names "holy yoga" or "Christian yoga" are oxymorons.

Guys, how about having a Christian chiropractor on sometime to discuss the other side of this debate. Just because a part of the profession believes in “innate healing” doesn’t mean you throw out the whole profession. Many chiros know that God has designed our bodies to heal. Chiropractic care helps our bodies heal well because it keeps the spine aligned properly which keeps your nervous system working properly. I’d much rather trust a chiro than a “western medicine” doc who’s been indoctrinated that the body only heals by giving it pharmaceuticals. Had Covid/vaccines not taught us anything about the heresy -yes, heresy- of WESTERN medicine and it’s lies? Don’t lump chiropractic care in with yoga, reiki, etc. They are NOT the same.

There are ways to plant gardens with multiple plants that is beneficial over-all to growth promotion, but if I read it in the parable way of Christ I see it as a great fit for not sewing the practices of the occult into your worship of God, the field of your spiritual belief and practice.

It is in you as a person that the nature of God is revealed, for a scriptural episode is not a record of an historical event, but a parabolic revelation of truth. To see Jesus or David as an historical character is to see truth tempered to the weakness of your soul. You must see what the characters represent, rather than the characters themselves. This is true for every story in scripture, for every episode will unfold within you.

The title of the 54th Psalm is translated as “David is hiding with us” in the King James Version, and “David is in hiding among us” in the Revised Standard Version; but the title should read: “David is in hiding within us,” for that is where he is, as well as every character in scripture. When I say, with Blake: “All that you behold, though it appears without it is within, in your Imagination of which this world of mortality is but a shadow,” I mean that literally, for the drama of life unfolds from within.

I thought the same. In one sense he says hey its okay. In the same breath he says its a bad practice bc an angel can masquerade as an angel of light. Um okay so we know that Angels that are no aligned with God can play pretend. Do you not think if you asked God to show you an angel that a fallen one could then pretend to be God answering your plan and then further use that experience to draw you in fact away from God? Common sense!! Come on. People are notorious for using experience as the sole defining moment of having been heard by God and fail to then test that experience with scripture. This was not advice well given and could honestly be misunderstood and misapplied and then cause more harm than good. I think they attempted to then kind of corral that statement and make it better but man no no no...
@poik247
@poik247 3 жыл бұрын
I think what he means is explained- that if youre confused about something, like any supernatural experience that people are presenting. You ask God about it you dont try to do it yourself. Which makes sense. If you dont understand something you dont tap into some other power to try to understand. You ask God to reveal it to you. If youre a person confused on this alien stuff- instead of doing what these people are doing which is trying to summon them on their own- you instead should say to God "hey God if aliens are real I need some kind of answer or insight from you." If we are praying to the one true God of scripture, he can say "no" or he could say "yes" and reveal to you that these things are demonic. In our ignorance I think its ok to ask weird questions, as long as we inquire of the Lord. The word does say we have not because we ask not. We keep looking into things with our own human understanding without inquiring of the Lord. For people who aren't curious or dont care about weird things like aliens I think we have a pretty quick answer to these things like "no of course I'd never ask God about aliens" to people in different positions who arent quiet these yet and are battling ideas this may be a safer way. We all have areas that burden our hearts more than others....No matter if your prayer is stupid and unwise or not I would agree its far better to inquire of the one true God YHWH than any where else.
@TheWayWalker
@TheWayWalker 3 жыл бұрын
@@poik247 Actually when he was pressed on it, he didn't clarify he reiterated that he thought it was fine to ask God to show you an alien. There's a huge difference in asking about something because one is curious and asking to have an encounter with something. He is part of Bethel and a huge part of bethel is emphasized on the experience with angels to the point that they relegate it to a joke. They talk about their experiences with angels as if they just have the time to come down and have chats, and its no big deal etc.. That is not how scripture talks about angelic encounters. Now, to be fair, he did clarify that scripture is always God "sending an angel" to us and not us using our own efforts to do something, circumventing God in the process. In that aspect you are correct, but when Remnant pushed back on that and tried to steer away from the ask for angelic and/or alien 👽 encounters angle he specifically said no, I think its fine to ask God to see an alien etc.. THAT was my point in the dangerous ground. In scripture when God chose to reveal angels and such it was always a part of a mission. To deliver a message, to open the eyes of his servant.. It wasn't just to assuage curiosity.. Part of even asking that question would be born from a misunderstanding of scripture. And, if someone does not understand how God operates from revealed scripture already, then it is likely that they will take any counterfeit encounter as a direct response from God to their prayer in their ignorance even if it isn't actually from God. And Satan will most definitely use that to his advantage.. Therin lies the danger. I like weird stuff. I don't think there is anything wrong in asking God questions at all about the weird things. But the encounters/experiences can get a person on dangerous ground. We can't assume something even an answer to a prayer is automatically "from God". We must test all things in light of scripture even what we think is a response from God to our prayers. I personally believe that a lot of Alien encounters (which i don't necessarily discount as fiction) i think are likely fallen heavenly hosts taking on a form and messing with humans. There have been encounters in which people say the aliens were doing horrible things to them and they claimed the name of Jesus and it immediately stopped and they were returned. If that is actually what happened, I could see that as definitely being a fallen heavenly host. Thats not to say if God did create other life forms that they'd have to be evil. If they weren't I'd say God would still be their creator. So who's to say really on that. It certainly is a fascinating subject!

He's addressing that culture head on. But he's taught there- they don't actually teach that misstatement. To say Bill or Kris' quote proves that would be missing their clearly antithetical beliefs of Jesus' sole supremacy over all of creation, our redemption, reconciliation, adoption, and maturing into the bride of Christ but never becoming God.

"White magic" is prescribed by Jesus himself. He did it knowingly that it was the most impossible thing on Earth. See Matthew 18. The difficulty is one to unit in Jesus name and second to have a mutual which. To have an idea of how to unit in Jesus name, both first need to be vegan before even being baptise. Then one must stick to the Our Father, and to get to a similar focus in vocation as Jesus. The all idea is to free mankind from it's cruelty (sins). That it is how they will be free of evil like in Heaven. You don't go à d break that vow at every meal 3 times a day... You absolutely take the Eucharist as the meal of the redemption of sins at every meals. Then when you come to beg the Father to safeguard your daily vegan bread for food as your only material request, you get to be doing magic and receiving what else you may come to agree as needed with someone else that may have the same vocation. White magic can then be defined as the only admiration of the Creation, and the of all the creatures. It is about gaining love for harmony in the Creation. For that no need to sacrifice goat or babies. Jesus was the last lamb of sacrifice specifically to save the creatures. True vegan Christianity have been mostly removed from Christianity after the end of martyrdom in the fourth century. Since no Church is united in Christ. The Eucharist is a mediocre memory of the deep devoted work that Christianity was when they were giving their lives to it.

"Veganism"... died in the Garden of Eden! There is absolutely no requirement to not ever eat meat or milk and to only eat vegetables. And love for harmony in the creation is only complete in the work and sacrifice of Jesus. Jesus did not come to be a leader in the PETA movement either. Maybe relook at scripture using exegetic not eisegetic hermeneutics!
