Great outline of responsibilities of a project manager. I think one of the hardest ones is motivating your team - just due to the fact that the team members don't report into you and are usually being pulled in alot of different directions with tasks on multiple projects.

Hello Adriana, how do you manage a project where you are not a subject matter specialist? Secondly, how does a project manager effectively work with a project lead on the same project?

Hi Honorine, it's hard for me to answer your question without a little more context. Are you coming from the perspective of a project manger or from a team members perspective?

@@AdrianaGirdler Hello Adriana, I am coming from a Project manager's perspective. How do you effectively manage projects in which you are not a subject matter specialist? As for the second question lets say you are a project manager for an organization where but each project has a project lead, which I will call a technical lead because they are specialists in the field, but tye PM is not. How do these two work together for the project to be completed effectively?

@Honorine Asoh. To answer your first question, being a project manager, you are the project process specialist and that's all you need to focus and be good at. Rely upon your team to educate you as you move through the project. Ensure that you take the time to build a good rapport with your team so that you can go to them when you have any questions. Question number 2, this is where you need to layout the project in the charter and kick off meeting as the technical leads will be reporting directly to you.
