Watched your video with great interest, since I have the same watch,except it is gold or gold - plated and White dial, gold indecies with black color in the middle and a coin bezzel. I bought it new in 1974. Interestingly it Had similar problems with the day -date complication and the quickchange date mechanism. Seems to be a weakspot of the 2571 movement. After service everything works and it runs -10sec a day. Very happy, a beautiful watch. In the day I paid around 250 DM (German Marks) .

Thanks! Are you using a flat stake when closing the barrel lid bearing?
@ChronoWorkRestorations8 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! Only the flat stake and round punch are shown in this video, but in addition I used a concave punch to close the part that extends inside the barrel from the other side, and a concave stake with a bigger round punch to create a slight depression around the hole to adjust the endshake.

What is the blue grease used for the winding mechanism? Is it essential?
@ChronoWorkRestorations4 күн бұрын
It's Moebius 9504 synthetic grease. Molykote DX or similar can also be used, some thick grease that doesn't spread easily. It is indeed essential to lubricate the winding mechanism like most other moving parts.

When did tissot start using plastic in their watches? Ty
@ChronoWorkRestorations7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I believe in the early 70's or late 60's. They even released a watch made almost completely of plastic in the early 70's. It was a complete flop and couldn't compete with the quartz watches that were so popular.
@solidgaunt888 ай бұрын

What oils/greases did you use fo0r this movement? I have a similar one, tissot 794, and im stuck. I dont know what oils i should buy.
@ChronoWorkRestorations3 ай бұрын
I used various Moebius lubricants, 8217 for the barrel wall, 8200 for the mainspring, 9504 for the keyless and calendar works, 9415 for the escapement, 9104 (HP 1300) for high torque pivots and 9010 for high speed pivots. That's a lot of different lubricants, especially if you have to buy all at once. They'll last very long but do have an expiration date. I only have experience with Moebius lubricants, but Molykote DX should work well for keyless etc. If you're just starting out or practicing and don't want to spend so much on lubricants, you could use Molykote DX for keyless works and Moebius 8000 for everything else and then get the more specific lubricants later on.
@kevincunha42783 ай бұрын
@@ChronoWorkRestorations Thank you very much for the explanation and tip. I was keen to buy 4 (the ones you have on your oil cups in this video). Moebius 941/2 for the pallet jewels, Moebius 9010 for the low-power gear, Moebius HP1300 for the high-power gear and Molykote DX for grease. Is this a good start? I live in switzerland, so i can arrange all four for less then 50$.

Thank you for the offer and for trusting me enough to ask! My policy so far has been to basically only work on my own projects. I assume you're based in the US? I'm in the EU and the shipping, import declarations etc. would also make it quite complicated. For those reasons I'll have to decline the offer for now. I truly appreciate your understanding and support. And who knows, I may change the policy at some point.
