when spraying clear, it is important to spray it until it is 'wet' looking but not dripping. The example given here will not give gloss.

There’s some really bad tips here tbh. From what he used, the method and even his buffing was TERRIBLE. What he used won’t make it past a year with out fading and doesn’t even look clear. 2k clear would be better, slowing his hand down would’ve made it glossier and maybe not even need to be wet sanded. If you chose to wetsand, do not add wax or fillers for month Is recommend by most body shops

Clearcoat needs something to bond to, without proper scuffing it won't last. 1500 is Grit too fine. Try 600 Next Time and yield better results.

@elliottregoning89676 жыл бұрын
I don't know if you were using a way lower % of alcohol when you wiped it down before hitting it with the 3000 grit sandpaper, but when I tried to sand and re-coat (after letting it dry for 48 hours), it got all sticky as if it wasn't fully dry yet -- using the same type of clear coat as you. When I went to the hardware store to look for different types of clearcoat (like a faster drying one) I explained to one of the workers there what I was doing and he said I shouldn't be using alcohol to remove sanding dust -- I should be using a tack cloth. Other than that, it seems to be coming along okay.
@tedydiaz63144 жыл бұрын

@theheadllama98022 жыл бұрын
when you spray move your arm from left to right, not your wrist. Moving your wrist like that will never give you an even finish. 1500 grit is not coarse enough for the clear coat to grip. I would go with something better instead of the Rustoleum can your using.

@s1lverep34 жыл бұрын
Not bad. I'm not a pro but I've seen that it's better practice to spray horizontally in a sweeping motion to cover the surface more evenly. Also I've read that 400 to 600 grit sandpaper is better to make the clear adhere better. People think you'll see the scratches but you won't.
@j.a.31384 жыл бұрын
i have used 600 and it did not go deep to remove the scratches. Used 400 and i managed to remove them. Then I used 1500 to smooth it out. after 5 layers of coat, i used 2000. looks brand new

The only part i suck at is when doing the clear coat i get like a dry area from the can. This is the only thing i dont like about using pressure pack / rattle cans
@ThEDIPPA14 жыл бұрын
You have to put the can in hot water for a few minutes to make sure it’s loosen up inside. Then throughly shake upside down for at least a minute before you start spraying. Then shake after every pass.

@TKDPandaa2 жыл бұрын
the clear coat is faded, the only way to get it to look nicer again is to wet sand and put more clear coat on. yes you can oxidize the existing clear coat but that wont last that long
