I am so glad someone has an actual solution to heat damaged hair. Every other “natural hair KZbinr” says “cut it off🙄🙄” it’s not like it’s just at the tips of the amount of inches we’re okay with losing, its from the ROOT, ergo cutting just ain’t gonna happen

I straightened my hair ONCE in a longg time and got heat damaged.😑 But I guess it's my fault since I put too much oil I think I sizzled it. For weeks, every time I washed it, it smelled like burnt hair I couldn't get the smell out and I had straight strands in the front but it's going away now.🤔 My curl patterns haven't been the same (I mean I was never really natural because I had a perm before and never cut it but I guess the perm wore off). Every time my hair dries up it's just a poof with LACK of curls😒I don't wanna cut it off😭 BTW if you don't have a shower cap can you use a trash bag?

I had extreme heat damage and I did not big chop. My curls have changed with just basic hair steps and patience. When my curls were looser I was good with that too because it's just not that serious, as long as it was not breaking off. I big chopped last year and two months ago got my hair straightened at a Dominican salon and you know how violently they treat hair. I didn't even want to, my mom pestered me for weeks to "do something with that mop". It didn't even come out good. And now the few curls I had before are seemingly completely gone now, after just one straightening session. I just feel so angry, at myself and my mom. Thanks for reminding me about protein treatments. I had one of those years ago and my hair came out very soft and tameable.

Thanks for these tips! I've restored heat damage twice, but it took a long time and lots of hydration both times. This past time, I did protective styling for a while to give it a rest and I started using Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle conditioner and Urban Hydration's Coconut Oil conditioner for deep conditioning. I also used the LA Long Aid line for leave in and styling products. All of these are hyper conditioning and have helped my struggle curls start bouncing back.

Good to know. I got heat damage for the first time in my 8 yrs of being natural. I flat ironed my hair on higher then usual heat (455 degrees), and when I washed my hair tonight the very back is so stringy. The back is finer then the rest anyway and in the front and top of my hair I have several areas where the middle of my strands are bone straight the rest is curly. I'm so upset. My whole head looks unhealthy after this flat iron and it has never looked this way. I'm putting away the heat for good and doing nothing but moisturizing and protective styles for the next 6 months to see what happens.

Now I see several spots where it is heat damaged and a lot of it is smack dab in the middle of the strands. I’m using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner and deep conditioning weekly( I used to use Ausie products with the 3 minute treatment in the US, now I’m back in South Africa using local products). I also did a major trim 🙈 about 4cm and it’s so much softer and happier. Lesson learned. I’ve even blown it out again, with heat protectant, on warm not high heat and it reacted well. Went to a salon for color & a silk press. I knew I should’ve stuck with perm rods. For the most part my hair is fine but I do have a GOOD section in the front of my head on the side where it’s completely straight from root to tip. & a small section in the back that I can see. I knew it was damaged when my hair smelled burnt. & I ran to buy olaplex no. 0 & 3 & deep conditioner. So far my hair remains soft & moisturized. & I know I’ll have to grow out the dead sections & cut it away. I just can’t cut rn bc the whole strands are dead! 😭 I guess it’s fine. I’ll slap some braids on my head & let it grow out under wigs. I guess the only good thing is my hair isn’t breaking off, dry, or brittle. It just has straight sections & on my first two washes a lot of that burnt smell went away.

I just realized today that my hair is pretty heat damaged. I only really straighten my hair maybe once a month or once every 2 months and I end up washing it out after like 3 or 4 days because it gets super oily, but I guess I just bumped the heat up too much when I did it a week ago or something.. Now it's like wavy/straight everywhere and it doesn't even look that bad, but I miss my curls!! Anyway, what do you think of the natural treatments that many of the blogs suggest (like mayonnaise, olive oil, etc.). Do those actually work? Also, how harsh is the Aphogee protein treatment? I'm worried that it will be too harsh for my hair.

I loved this video so much, your very wise and what you spoke was facts 😍🥰, my hair is heat damaged, and more of the back part of my hair and side of my hair is, I do protein treatment every month after I take out my box braids & it does wonder. I don’t use heat but when I do it severally damages my hair and I hate it 😭, because I went natural 3yrs ago after heat damaged & relaxer ruined my hair. Now my hair is healthy, thick, full, and growing every month, with my box braids. I want to use heat but once use I use it, it damages my hair and changes it. So since I don’t use it, I’m gonan let myself use it once a yr or none at all. I’ve worked too hard to get my hair completely natural for it to damage my hair again 😭😩, any tips for me to prevent damage when I really need to use heat & how to keep it healthy after using it 😩?!?!

From root to end my hair is natural, heat damaged, tdd hen perm. I transitioned a little and noticed that the heat damage was gone a little but the perm is still cool & straight

How long Can one expect the hair to fully be repaired if your hair isn’t extremely damaged. I don’t have straight pieces . I have most of my elasticity from my dyed hair. It’s is very dry and frizzy. By using protein treatments, when can you expect for it to return back to my natural hair? How long can it take? How many times do you have to use a protein treatment to see results if your hair isn’t Badly damaged??

I found my straight ends ugh from my hair dresser putting the flat iron too high which I complained about many times. Thus far using protein and hot oil treatments. This far with my roller sets it still curls and I'll have it slowly trimmed away. I do my hair not and only get trims.. I'll have my cousin trim my hair vs the person I went too. Sad was I went to her for years and once I went to long and natural vs short permed.. the things you see once you do your own hair.

My hair is naturally curly but then I started straightening my hair cause it was easier to comb but then I noticed I was straightening my hair a little too much so then I compared a picture of how my hair used to look and now and it's more frizzy and ugly I lost all of my curls because of the straight iron can I fix my hair without cutting it?

Hey can I just vent really quick 🥺. I’m so insecure about my hair. It was so long but it was heat damaged. I thought that if I cut my ends it’ll regrow into something healthier. My boyfriend told me not to do it and I didn’t listen. I don’t know what I should do, I’m 16 and the last time I had a trim I was 13. I don’t know if my heat damaged hair can be revived. What should I do 😣

Wait it out and baby those ends. Deep condition weekly and stay away from heat for at least 3 months

I stopped straightening my hair, weave one I learnt to love my curls finally in life.then for my bday decided to straighten it few weeks ago having a sew in gifted to me and I have completely straightened my hair line it’s so bad and I’m really down about it.I jus don’t think there is any saving it and I had already cut the random straight bits.biggest regret 😢
