Nice work, just a tip whatever you do with the pinstriping, make sure you use that blue pin stripe tape where the soft rounded corners bend as I have found it is more pliable and less risk for the base paint to bleed through. Anyways you may already know that, but thought I mention it, cheers keep up the good work and in my opinion you have choosen the right way of bringing this machine back to a stock bike.

I worked in the parts department for Harley back in the day. You’re spot on when it comes to the part book and sticking with the original HD. Everything fits doesn’t fall apart and will last much longer than any aftermarket out there attention to detail nice job are used to work in a body shop right at a high school. Lotta Corvettes place was called meta-glass in South San Francisco. We used to use the stuff called feather, fill Apoxsee primer. You add a Hardner and you spray it, it fills everything and it won’t crack. Don’t know if it’s still on the market. I got some RT stuff I need to find myself leg bearings crash bar brackets for the leg bearings etc. but the faring I got I got a try to find original paint and match it to the faring even if it’s scratched up, I want to try to match the faring. Look forward to your next step.

I'm glad to know the home work of tracking everything down will be worth it! I think that's also the most fun, trying to find all these treasures and getting everything to match. I appreciate the comment and following along sir! 🤘

I’ve been following this series along and I feel your pain about parts availability. I’ve got a 1985 EC VIN FXRT that was a lot like this one. Missing the bags and fairing, wiring a mess, and someone basically tried to turn it into Heritage. I’d like to put it back to original some day, but for now I’m doing an m.unit and just turning it into a day tripper. This is my first time fixing up a bike like this and your videos have been incredibly helpful. Looking forward to seeing the bike completed.

That is awesome! You are right going with the M-unit because how much money this has been eating up to get it "Original"😅. I appreciate you following a long man 👊
