Great video and thank you for saving the EM1! For the fog light I do have similar experience and I would like to share it. It was for my sister’s Ej8 coupe. We bought the first set eBay fog light with the H3 harness and running the same issue as you have. The screws are not long enough and the hardware are horrible. The problem for it is the driver side will leak when it rains. Later on we get another set off eBay which is the one you were planning to return. But this time the harness is H11, therefore have to rewire it and I think this time should be good because this set cost more than the previous set, and I was dead wrong. This time is passenger side leak! At the end, I realized it’s H11 harness and the housing is literally same as the OEM Subaru fog light and 15-17 mustang fog light. I went to junkyard found myself a set of 17 mustang led fog light for around 30 dollars, and it works, they are also insanely wide and sharp cutout. If you are running to the issue of leak in the future, consider the 15-17 mustang fog, they are very good fog light for the money imo.

My 2000 EM1 is being fully painted to the stock black color with all stock OEM parts and optional spoiler and stock rims. It's hopefully gonna be ready next week. The next step is installing the Yonaka Full Catback Exhaust, Yonaka 4 in 1 header and AEM V2 Cold Air Intake. I will share when its all done! It's been a massive project.

@@AcuraAdvice Here is some help from me. A direct replacement 48 state cat costs $100 USD. I just did it to my 144k mile EJ8, shipped out of Canada for $120 USD from ebay. While the anti fouler trick will turn the light off (for awhile) sooner or later it is going to come back on. I've seen people go mad chasing lean/rich codes when it was an anti fouler. So it's best to just throw a new cat, as long as you're not trying to move to california or colorado. Those are the states that require the $400+ USD cats.

I am a proud owner of a FL5 CTR now but back in '99 I had 3 friends that had the EM1 Si in Red, Blue, and Black and to me that was the 'it' car to have for late teens to early adults. I mean it's not like any of us could afford Supra Turbos. I tried looking for a nice example for the moments when I had the money but they're way to expensive in the US. Your SiR badge, you prob could find an actual one on Yahoo Auctions in Japan. I am no stranger to that since I use to have a '96 Suzuki Alto Works and a '91 Honda Beat. I love them kei's.

What is up fellow desert dwelling EJ8 owner. Nevada here. And it always blows my mind exactly how rusty cars that aren't in the desert get. My 98 EJ8 coupe actually lived some of its life in arizona and california. I am currently in the process of manual swapping my d16, with plans to k swap it eventually. As K series motors are plentiful right now, The issue I am having with either swap is finding the right transmission for the right price. D series trannys are plentiful and cheap. B and K manual trannys you cant touch one for at least $1,200, BUT the motor is where the K swap becomes more ideal to me. You can find k24 tsx engines in town, with under 60k miles, for $1,200. B series is going to be at least 2 grand just for the engine with lord knows how many miles.

I think for the fog switch you can find people selling it for around 20$ oem of course, for perfect fit and function (did a foglight install for a friend scion tc and the switch failed after 10 days) and don't forget the actual fogs lamps can be sourced from other Honda/Acura, like the 98-01 integra, accord 98-00 accord, and lastly Acura cl 1st gens, cause eBay replica fogs sucks in quality and light output.

It is damn near impossible to find ANY 96-00 Civic that hasn't been ran through and if you do the asking price is 2-6x the KBB value. I was stoked when I found my bone stock 98 ex coupe. Couple of down sides: It is a 2 pedal, and it cost me $4250 USD. I have since done a rear disc swap, changed EVERY single bearing, bushing and ball joint in the suspension, got some Tein coilovers, and some new to me LS Meshies with brand new rubber. Currently in the process of locating everything I am going to need to do a manual swap. Got the pedal assemblies and SOME of the hydraulic line. Still trying to find an EX tranny, as they have larger journals, and are therefore more stout, compared to the other models.

makes me want to get an EM1, then I look at the prices on these and the excitement goes away
@GoneAsGoneCanBe2 ай бұрын
So get a 99-00 EJ8, start searching for em1 suspension parts, and a b16? Because AFAIK, the main difference between your run of the mill EJ8 and EM1, besides the drivetrain, is in the suspension. If you start with an EX model you dont have to worry about the front sway bar mounts just need to find a 26mm front & 13mm rear sway bar, em1 front lower control arms, and I am not even sure if the cross member is entirely necessary if you start off with an EX model. Don't let the fact that the vin wont have "em1" in it distract you from the goal of building and enjoying what you drive.

@@JuanGSR Fair enough. I actually just got my butt back in a civic after an 18 year affair with Scion and Hyundai. Every single other car I have ever owned has been a Civic. 91 hatch, 95 coupe, and a 96 hatch. I now am in the process of building my 98 coupe up. Started with the suspension and brakes, rear disc swap, 40/40 prop valve, replaced every single bearing, bushing and ball joint in the suspension. I am going to kswap it eventually, when ever i find the right transmission for the right price. As that seems to be the most expensive part of the entire swap.

@culligandriver7833Ай бұрын
That's not an EM1, that's an EJ8. Canadian SI's are the equivalent of an American EX car. The SIR was the Canadian SI equivalent.
@SergioLopexАй бұрын
@@culligandriver7833 the vin for my car does have em1 in it unless both sir and si in Canada have em1 in their vin number as it also has the abs harness not sure if canadas si (USA ex trim model) also came with abs I did a 5 lug conversion and I saw the abs cable on the trailing arms also the car did not come with a sway bar but I checked the the rear sub frame and it does have the threads to put one on. I used to own a ex model and I had to use some brackets to use a sway bar since the ex did not come with the sway bar and the brackets had the threads to mount the sway bar. Another thing the car has the studs for the front strut bar, here in the states the ex trim model does not have one. Also the car did not come with a strut bar since I bought a rolling shell it was a project wanted to do. Only things I don’t have for evidence is the b16a2 matching vins and the heated mirrors. Unless your guys si trim(ex trim model) is beefed up like the sir and si then I bought myself a Canadian ex but I have 4 matching vins that have em1 one last thing there’s a sticker with the vin and it has a maple leaf which I find pretty cool
