Restoring the Anchor Windlass

The old S-L Hyspeed anchor windlass is in desperate need of a tidy up if it's going to be any good to us on the trip to Tassie.

haha I'm trying to redo mine, and you skipped the most important part between 7:44 and 7:47...i can't get the front plate off to save my life! I'm not sure what's going on but I spent the last two days shoving screwdrivers and wedges and everything under the sun to try get that stupid plate off! lol and you skip that exact part, oh boy lol

If your talking about the most forward bolt in the bowsprit then if I remember corectly it's just a ling bit of threaded rod with nuts, washers and backing plates on each end. You might just have to try and grab the rod with some vice grips to allow you to undo whichever nut won't undo.

I'm at this stage too with my S-L Hyspeed 510, the whole thing is seized solid and there was no oil in the winch when I opened the filler plug
