An accoustic song from documentary Restrepo, based on the Blink 182 song, with a good amount of reflection. I love this scene.

Those are the eyes of guys who went through one of the deadliest periods of the war in Afghanistan. Imagine spending 9 months of your 15 month deployment getting into several firefights on a daily basis. American soldiers haven’t gone through stuff like that since WWII or Vietnam.

I think this is one of the most powerful scenes out of any movie I've seen. The acoustic version of Stay together for the kids by blink 182 works perfectly for the back drop, and by saying nothing. They say it all.

The entire movie left me on the verge of tears, once this scene came on, I couldn't help but shed them. Very powerful documentary, very powerful song. Thanks for your service. Freedom isn't free.

To all of the boys who didn't get the joy of coming home... You all will live on deep in our hearts. You all fought and died for a higher purpose and you all did not die in vain. God rest each and every one of you boys. I am going infantry 11bravo God bless out men and woman who served/serving.

Exactly scene is what got the tears into my eyes.... If you have seen the movie there is this kind of opener before the deployment and they are happy, I think it is even "Doc" Restrepo himself who says they'll be loving life... And now during this scene look into those men's eyes... war wrecks and devastates a human mind. Nothing but respect for these men, I personally hope they will find God someday.
@ydoureadthis9 жыл бұрын
It's a shame these men will always have this thought in their minds to young to have such traumatizing moments locked away in their memories. I'm thankful that we have these brave men and I strive to be one too one day.

And to think these guys in particular went through as much combat as guys would back in WWII or Vietnam. Can you imagine, spending three quarters of your deployment getting into several firefights A DAY?

saw this film by chance years ago, and this is the scene I keep coming back to watch, if you take nothing else away from Restrepo take away the faces you see here, if you feel like you want to enlist just remember these guys and really think about what you want to do, not saying don't ever sign up but, fuck, really think about it.
@gavinball16078 жыл бұрын
You can just see the trapped thoughts and memories these guys have to carry with them. Godspeed brothers (and anyone reading this) you're not alone. This brotherhood doesn't leave you once you put on the plaid shirt and denim jeans for the rest of your life. We've got your backs

This really hits hard, you realize by their stares that they sacrificed any chance of living a normal life after experiencing war and loss. The look in their eyes speaks volumes of the impact that deployment and PTSD has. Thank you to everyone who serves and makes the ultimate sacrifice.

Went to Kunar Pech River Valley, spent Spring Break 2006 in the Korengal Valley. I'll never step foot in a place quiet like these mountains. Restrepo and Korengal Documentaries keep my memories alive of some of the scariest and funniest times in my life. I'll forever hate the Korengal and everyday wish I could go back for 1 more day.

It’s just chilling to see their faces. Those are the faces of men who have seen just as much combat as guys back in WW2 or Korea did. I can’t even imagine, basically 2/3 of their deployment was in pitched combat. All just in one combat tour.

Evil may exist in this world, but there is also good, no matter how big or how small. Good does not always prevail and evil will always exist, but as long as there are good people willing to stand up when the time comes Evil will never rule forever.

Here yet again. Older, but not really wiser, I guess.. And oh, I'm on an old phone which is glitchy; and I deleted a comment I previously made 😅 - sadly I'm not sure anymore what I said, as it was 4 or 5 years ago.. Anyways, I just wanted to say how this videoclip is still so very intense and gripping.. it's fascinating how after all this time, all this new life experience, I can still feel it - as I said previously (that's the one thing I remember from my now deleted comment): it just clicks.
