i think anode is negative charge, am i right? cathode is positive charge, am i right?
@sirojajam557 жыл бұрын
Yes! ...and no. It is advisable in fact to stay away from using anode/cathode terminology as these words can mean either things. That is, cathode can refer to both positive and negative charges, as well as anode. Can be frustrating, especially if you're to use it in your exam just to learn that your professor thinks of them the other way around :(

Is it just me or is the cathode the positive side?
@AKLECTURES9 жыл бұрын
+Alexander Dowhayko I think its just you :)
@jessestrayer80749 жыл бұрын
+Alexander Dowhayko This is how I remember the distinction: the - cathode - attracts + cations +, the + anode + attracts - anions -. Their names are similar and they are attracted to each other BECAUSE they are oppositely charged!
@GearheadSynthesis9 жыл бұрын
+Alexander Dowhayko In GenChem we learned that the cathode is positive and the anode is negative. However, we also learned the in a galvanic cell, it's the opposite. Here, we have a galvanic cell (the battery) supplying the charge, so the cathode is now negative and the anode is positive.
