Very interesting! Enjoyed the analogy immensely! As a USAF veteran who was involved in the end of the Cold War fall of the USSR thru the Global War on Terror and Gulf Wars and a avid student of history the end had particular interest to me. As it brings to the for front the present situation. Back in the late 80s I predicted the USSR was cutting dead weight and buying time especially computer technology, which in fact was woefully weak and decades behind ours! I was on a mission to bring inspectors to Ukraine in 89, speaking to one on the way home who stated the missile tech he saw was so rundown and computer systems so bad they likely would have blown up in their silos on launch, a frightening idea! I predict and believe the entire present Ukraine situation is a ruse to gain our technology and weapons to use against us and is a huge problem! Fools rush in and this is a terrible danger to us and the world not enough see or understand except true historians which always repeats itself! Stalin killed millions in his bloody rise to power like Mao fools forget! Trump understands I only pray I am wrong, but I doubt it Washington is full of greedy fools, and traitors! God Bless America it may be our only hope!

@brucechmiel79649 ай бұрын
@@attiepollard7847 Who would do that? I'm thinking Klingons. Camp khitomer was only a few years ago at this point. Tensions are cooling down between the Federation and the Empire. But would the Romulans agree to that? I do not think so.
@kingdave3110 ай бұрын
This is so cool! I came up with a Hunt for Red October-style Star Trek story myself years ago, set in a similar point in the timeline. The Romulan ship was the Garuda-class supercruiser from the 1997 Starfleet Academy PC game, and I also used the idea of it being the first Romulan vessel with a singularity drive, the idea being that while Federation sensors could detect the power signature of a conventional warp drive through the cloak, the singularity drive neutralized that advantage. The "Red Route One" scene where the Romulan ship has to evade a torpedo from a pursuit Stormbird took place near a Jovian planet, and the final battle scene took place in a Wolf-Rayet system, where the intense radiation would foul sensors and make it almost impossible for future expeditions to determine what really happened.

I'm a fan of Star Trek and "The Hunt for Red October" is one of my favorite military novels. You're right. The movie's scenario works well for a Trek movie!
@saintelmo55909 ай бұрын
Interesting adaptation. Your models and animations are really good! I, too, had dreamt of a "Hunt For Red October" scenario, and a couple friends and I did play it out on the old FASA Star Trek Starship Tactical Combat Simulator years ago. This was more of a Klingon/Federation scenario than a Romulan/Federation. IIRC, we used an uprated K't'inga class (my favorite Klingon ship in the STU since Star Trek The Motion Picture). I think we used a Miranda as the Dallas equivalent. We didn't follow the Red October movie too precisely, but it made for an interesting, pre-Undiscovered Country scenario. I even imagined how Starfleet Officers would communicate if Tom Clancy wrote a Star Trek novel that got adapted into a film. Producer: Mace Neufeld, Director: John McTiernan. Music by: (the late, great) Basil Poleduris NOTE: I realize that the scenario below sounds absolutely far fetched, but I just came up with this off the top of my head to adapt it to Red October's style of dialogue. So, take it with a grain of quadrotriticale. 🤣😂🤣 Sensors Officer Jones: Conn, Sensors, reporting new contact bearing two one five mark two eight. Designate contact: Kilo three five. Captain Mancuso: Conn, aye, what do have, Jonesy? Jones: Possible Klingon starship, Cap'n. Energy readings are borderline K't'inga, but there are certain fluctuations that could confuse it for a small star. Mancuso: But it is a ship, Jonesy? Jones: It has made minor course alterations, skipper, and there are not enough gravitics in the area to influence those changes. The turns are too precise, and as you know, stars tend to be pretty stationary, sir. Mancuso: (chuckles at the humor, then) Conn, aye. Start a track, Jonesy. Later, aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise Starfleet Intelligence Scribe Ryan has joined Captain James T. Kirk at a tactical display in the Combat Information Center of the Enterprise. As Kirk describes the deployment of several Federation starships executing a search pattern for the renegade Klingon ship, based on prompts provided by the Klingon government (who are astounded that "discraced" former Admiral Kirk still serves in Starfleet), Ryan notices a lone starship on the tracking board. Ryan: Captain Kirk, what is this ship over here? Kirk: (looks at the lone contact track) That's the Dallas, Bart Mancuso's boat. He's tracking what his sensor officer reported as, for lack of better words, a "rogue star". Ryan: A rogue star? Considered a celestial anomaly? Kirk: Yes, I suppose so, why? Ryan: (straightens) Captain, I believe the Dallas has just found the Black Gret'hor. I need you to get me to the Dallas.

The singularity core here is the counterpart to the "caterpillar", the magnetohydrodynamic alternate propulsion system the Red October was equipped with. This was fantastic. I see you have a render of the U.S.S. Constitution. I would love to buy a copy. In American naval history, that is the ship that Silas Talbot, my great x 5 or so back grandfather commanded after her sea trials were complete for the US Navy at the time, 1801 or so. He took over and went after other ships from foreign powers or privateers off of the Eastern seaboard of the US. One of my best friends has his own Great x5 grandfather who commanded a small group of privateers at that time, also operating in the area. It is very good that the two never met because my friend would probably never have later been born! Silas Talbot’s ship was nicknamed “Old Ironsides”, because she NEVER lost a battle! The Constitution is still maintained in the Boston Navy Historical Dock in Charleston Harbor. She never lost a battle. The reason for the nick name? She was the first of her kind of sailing warship that was built out of Oak in a way that deflected cannonballs right off of her sides. A British sailor exclaimed during an engagement that her sides were made of iron, because he could see the cannon balls bouncing off of the ship’s sides. Amazing history!
