So great to see this, Glen is a legend. The Alice Cooper group will never be replicated and they made some of the best hard rock albums ever. I just wish I had been old enough to see the original lineup. Alice’s current band are tight, modern sounding and really nail the old tunes. I would pay big bucks to go back in time and see the band that created the legend. It’s really great that they have recorded new tunes on the past few records. Long live the memory of GB. His schools out riff will live on forever.

I was right there, buying their albums as they came out. I got the best years as a teenager. It was never the same when Alice went solo. Not bad but for me the dream was over.

Here's a story for you not even kidding. My sister's first ex-husband was a guitar player. in the early 80s he told me he played a gig opening up for the Glen Buxton band in Tempe Arizona somewhere. Like I said it was the early 80s so my brother-in-law was so so proud of his Marshall jcm 800 head and 412 cab. He said Glen had some fender Twin Reverb 2 X12 combo. And thought he would be kind enough to offer Glen the use of his Marshall. Glen looked at Tim not rudely but matter-of-factly. And he said Son I think if this amp I use was good enough for Madison Square Garden. It should do for this little nightclub. But thank you anyway. And then my brother-in-law told me how Glen straight smoked his boots that night. He said he felt smaller than an ant true story hand of God.

Gibson and Fender should stop with the "Limited edition custom shop master luthier anniversary reissue" bs. They're overpriced replicas. What's that say about the brand new stock les Paul's and strats? In any other medium, a replica is another word for fake. For example, the les paul junior was made so people with shallow pockets could get a decent bare bones bonafide Gibson....A sweetwater catalog has a "reissue" ( see above). Its NOT for the poor people anymore. Let's put some dings and scratches on it and charge 5k. Smh.

I am still rocking hard at 58 and love my collection of vintage 70s cars and guitars....truly the best time ever to be young and alive. Glen Buxton is so underated and has influenced as many guitarists as Montrose. Awesomeness

If you heard it for the first time in 1973 then you were a year behind. School's Out, the single, was a smash hit on the radio in the summer of 1972. CKLW the Big 8 Detroit/Windsor played it in heavy rotation that summer.

When that album love it to death was out i used to stare at that picture on the back of the cover with the three band mates holding the sg guitar and bass and neal sitting in the front with the cane. My 2 biggest loves in Rock n roll, Gibson Sgs & the greatest drummer in Rock history Neil Smith, saw them at Cobo arena way back the opened a Steppenwolf show, I was so close I saw the stick Neil had caught in his hair thatr he left there during Black Juju they had everyone's attention after that.

I recall reading in one of the A.C. biographies that this guitar was stolen from Glenn at a hotel. The book said or implied that this was very depressing to Glenn and may have exacerbated his developing addictions. My sense is that Glenn had a grip on the use of feedback on that particular guitar. Anyway the guitar must have had a long, rough road since then. A few things Buxton pioneered: -- The double string screech. (Others had done it briefly here and there, but he used it on a different level.) -- The "jet landing" effect of dragging a pick down the neck against the G or B string. (Happens in "Second Coming" just before the dirge-like thing starts that leads into Dwight Frye). -- Heavy fuzz to the point of a cello sound ("Laughing At Me") -- General gonzo wild psychedelic raving, heard easily on "Living" from "Pretties." The way he was mixed so prominently on that album implies that Frank Zappa thought Buxton was really the central attraction in the band. -- A cascading "incoming bomb" effect by dragging the pick from lighter to heavier strings artfully (also heard on "Second Coming.") My impression is that M. Bruce did the same trick. -- In "You Drive Me Nervous" Buxton creates a sound like a flying saucer taking off. He did it by dragging his finger up the higher strings while yanking the strings up hard from the bridge using the wang bar. By lifting them up and down as the finger rose, the notches of the bridge acted to pluck the strings subtley. Very creative. Buxton was a highly creative guitarist, and his dark gothic metal sound really stood out in the early 70s as different and pricked up my ears. They say Dick Wagner did the lead solo on "My Stars." But it sure sounds like Buxton. If he did, he was imitating Buxton''s style really well.

Fantastic! Amazing to hear tgat guitar again. I first heard Glen himself play it in 1972 at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver BC. Billion Dollar Babies tour. I was 12 years old and it was my first concert . Neil was there ! I’ve been a lifelong fan of Alice Cooper and the original lineup since then. Their sound is unequaled and will never be matched. Thank you for resurrecting that guitar and all the wonderful memories it stirs.

I met Neal briefly in 1998 or thereabouts. I was working in a 1-Hour photo store in Westport, Connecticut, and he was a realtor who dropped off his house pictures to be developed. The manager, who knew I was a huge Alice Cooper fan, whispered in my ear that it was Neal Smith. "Neal Smith, _the_ Neal Smith?" "Yup!" He seemed a bit embarrassed when I gushed all over him for being one of my childhood heroes. He never came back. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Totally missed Alice Cooper Group!! They as a complete band as a Whole was Awesome!! I'm only 58 years old But my older Sister Marcia got me into Cooper. She was Totally into Schools Out to the Nightmare but despite my Favorite of her Albums called Billion Dollar Babies which I love to this day, I ended up gravitating toward KILLER album, especially the transitions I Heard on the Title Track and Halo of Flies which sent goose bumps on my young 13 year old ass!! Loved them way better than KISS which became very popular amongst my peers. I actually preferred Aerosmith over KIss which made me an outcast

RIP Glen Buxton. He wrote some of the coolest riffs in rock. What? Halo of Flies has some of the best guitar parts ever. Glen and Michael ripped it up on that song. I covered many Alice Cooper songs with my band in high school: Ballad of Dwight Fry, Halo of Flies, Sick Things, I Love the Dead, Second Coming. They were awesome songs and Glen's guitar parts were so cool.

I loved this band so much, I wasn't lucky enough to see them the first time around and always hoped maybe they'd reform later and I'd get another chance. That dream died with Glen's passing. I was quite sad to recently learn Glen wasn't even on their last album "Muscle of Love" although pictured on the album. I never knew that but from Love It To Death, Killer, Schools Out, Billion Dollar Babies, Muscle of Love this band had such an affect on my life. I could go on forever. That SG sounds amazing I'd love to play it! I think it's so awesome that Neil got it. Its so sad to loose our heroes, rest in peace Glen, the world will never forget you or this great band thanks for the music!!

Might not have mattered back then since most popular acts got sold out of venues in a few hours...this due in large part to scalpers, who bought up loads of tickets to sell @ a premium. Even paying the far less affluent to stand in line for them. I was very fortunate, since my best friend's mother managed a kitchen in the biggest venue of Detroit, being Cobo Hall...so we got to go to many concerts for free. Just had to watch out for the ushers, us not having ticket stubs.

Pat refinished a guitar I built, and it still looks badass, and like new. He also restored a beat up 1980 Washburn bass that was the exact year, and model of my fist electric I got it for my 16th birthday. He made it look brand new. He did a great job on this SG of Glenn's.

There are two different white SG guitars that you will see with Glen. The Beat Club videos (as shown at the end of this segment) show a SG with a Maestro vibrato tailpiece. The guitar that was restored here is the SG with a Bigsby tailpiece and had stars applied all over it and was from the early years of the group (circa Love It To Death and Killer). Most of the pictures you will find online, are of Glen with the SG with the Maestro tailpiece, the guitar he played during Schools Out and Billion Dollar Babies.

TWEEZMO, They are both the same guitar! If you go back and listen to the story, Glen was always tinkering with his guitar, changing it back and forth, modifying and so on. And if you go back to about the 3 minute mark in this video where they show a picture of the body, you can see all the screw mounting holes for BOTH tailpieces!

The neck joint is different and fretboard is wider than this late sixties SG custom which looks like the replacement neck has the usual size nut width .I know SG`s and i own a 1968 SG Standard which has the original Vibrola Tremolo.TWEEZMO is correct in what he said. Don`t expect a drummer to know about guitar gear. Cheers mate!!

Glen put the edge in ACG! I appreciate all the guitarists Alice has used over the years however, Glen Buxton did it for me as well. I had the opportunity to see ACG at UB, 3 or 4 times, in Buffalo, NY when they were playing Pretties for You and Easy action. Had the '18' single a year before it became a hit! Totally amazing! I am thrilled they made it this far and are actually doing the odd gig with the current Alice touring group! Whoda thunk it!

Its like the only parts guitar I'd want to own .Wish it had the original electronic parts + neck but it probably a way better neck to repaire it with but the A the Star it really is special. My all time favorite band Original AC band

The original Gibson SG Custom guitars had the exposed pole pieces of the pickups, on the neck & middle pickups, on the neck side, while on the bridge pickup, they were on the bridge side. Take a look at time stamp 2:20 to 2:52 to see Glen playing Schools Out with this factory setup. The guitar now has the neck & middle pickups, upside down.

Also the furthest volume knob away from the player should control the bridge pickup,not the middle one.

@@edgarcook9607 The volume pickup further from the player controls the bridge pickup but with the switch in the middle position you have bridge and middle pickup together and out of phase! This is how three pickup Gibsons were originally wired. Cheers!
