I'm moving to Valencia in May, and as a OTR trucker that has lived alone, no friends and no GF for the last 30 years. I have learned to live with myself. I have my dogs and am happy, it will take an exceptional woman to change that.

Who needs a girlfriend when you have dogs, right? They're the most loyal companions! But hey, who knows, maybe Valencia has some exceptional women who love dogs as much as you do!

@@joejamison8876 I could tell u so many stories. Like the time the DA sent me a letter on a Wednesday saying “Pay $8000. In back child support or we will send u to jail.” I paid way more than I was told to. So Friday comes and my paycheck is -700. Dollars back in 1996. So I go to pick up my kid and my ex asks “where’s my money?” I say I don’t know, my guess is the DA has it. Good luck getting your $700. From the DA on a Friday nite, have a great weekend. And I left. The worst part was, they never asked to hear my side of the story. Some due process

I met my Pinay here in the US. I was 25, and her 22. We were married for 23 years. 15-16 happy years. Had one daughter. I think she left because i was too boring, too reliable, and stable. I couldn’t support her shopping habit, or her debt. She ended up cheating on me, then asked for a divorce. I don’t like the American woman. I find myself drawn to the PI. I have met and dated two Pinays. I will stay single for a while. No need to hurry into the wrong relationship. Especially since now my GF is 7,000 miles away. I am glad you were able to survive. I am getting by. Seeking equilibrium before i rock the boat again, with female influence/drama.

My situation is very similar and I do have some regret regarding not having another generation behind me to carry the torch or be there for me like I am for my mom and brother. Throughout my life I have gone from one situation to another where I just never felt I could be, for anyone, the father or husband they deserve. I agree with the multi-generational family model, like in Asia, and have had very little time in my life when I was alone to be single. Before I began dating my mom moved back in, etc.. So eventually I ended up 58 with no wife or kids and not much of a track record of single and playing the field, so to speak. I've been contemplating SEA, probably the Philippines, but not for a wife or women at all. Thailand might have been fun for that back when I had no dependents, but that window closed pretty quickly in my case. I'm trying to find a place and lifestyle more compatible for THEM than for me, and I'm thinking perhaps SEA in the winter and the PNW, back in the states, the rest of the year. I think there may be a place they might like there, like Iloilo or something. The whole concept of a woman for me has been shelved for so long that I just don't think about it. I suppose if my situation were to change and I found myself wanting a wife or GF the Philippines is the place where I could possibly still make that happen. I'm just trying to make retirement happen right now. I've grown so used to being single that I don't sense any need for that, though I've known so many that have always been with someone and have never been alone. I think their situation is much worse as they don't really know themselves or have a relationship with themselves, if that makes sense. They are continually self-distracted from discovering who they are, always living for another. When they do find themselves as an empty nester and the spouse is gone they are in a world of hurt, usually. So while they think my life sounds lonely I don't NEED a woman and only occasionally WANT one, and that isn't even the case so much anymore. Yes, I'm still fully functional in that dept. and that's not it. I am just used to being without the baggage of a GF and having my freedom, to an extent. I am chained to my family but it's not the same as being half of a couple. For me I've gone from not having kids when I was young because I thought it was irresponsible before I could be a good father, to now being so old as to not being around for them growing up. I would be roughly 80 by the time they were grown and starting their own lives. Now THAT seems irresponsible to me. I think a family of my own making is not in the cards for me. As far as contentment though, I am pretty much at peace with things and just want my mom to have some more good years on this Earth before her time is up here. That's my mission.

I don't care where they are from: staying single is the way to go. No drama, no baggage, and no BS. I'm 54 and have been alone for nearly 10 years. I'll never trade my freedom for anyone again. That's just my opinion of course. But different strokes for different folks.

I'm 88 and live alone. i garden and have a few chickens plus i do all the house painting and maintenance, 5 bedrooms so a bit work is needed from time to time. I cook all my food, mostly simple stuff apart from trying out Filipino dishes occasionally. Dishes? i mostly wash at night so nothing to do in the morning. I do have a woman on a Sunday to do the house and that really keeps the house clean for a week cos i don't dirty the place much. A huge main plus is the fact that there are NO arguments here, NO minor complaints, NO money problems NO silent treatment NO stress. Hopefully, this will be the way until it's time to shake off those mortal coils. Bye all, and good night. Take care.

I believe, for us guys, that it comes down to peace, overall peace. If we cannot find peace. We cannot find happiness. Short term craziness may provide us with a little excitement, but eventually that happiness is replaced with stress. My goal is Ormoc, Leyte in twelve years. I like the small-town feel, two-hour Supercat ride to Cebu and still have access to malls, hospitals and shopping when you need it. My goal is just to workout, pray/meditate, grow food and go fishing for meals. When I walked away from drama, dramatic people and started taking care of myself. My life became incredibly fulfilling.

Being single doesn't mean that you're alone or lonely, you can have a social life outside of your home. There's actually lots of advantages for staying single because a woman will never fulfill your social needs and she can eventually stop you from having a social life in the first place.

Have had several dates and met several different women. All of them. at some point, started asking me for "LOANS". > I often dealth with single mothers, who always had problems with their lives. They were always welcome to hit me up, and if I helped THEM then I expected them to help ME. That was just fine with them in most cases. The trick is to NOT have "relationships." Don't get emotionally involved. Keep things transactional. Women could understand that, especially when they were needy for some reason. Just as an example, on e of my single mothers was a very attractive woman employed as a bartender. She worked until the bars closed. She had a son who was in Cub Scouts, and often I would take him to his meetings, bring him home and put him to bed. Then I would put myself to bed ----in mom's bed. When she got home we would shower together and wash the barstink off of her, then spend some congenial time together until I left in the morning. After a couple of months she found a boyfriend and I was no longer needed. But I'd get calls from other needy single mothers. No problem!

I have been along ,and have found inner peace through meditation, inner love , inner peace. Love is within, not without, i desire companionship, not love ! But being alone, i feel peace inside my soul, most people are empty inside, drugs , liquor, smoking, one night stands etc. Two empty people can't make each other happy, why would a happy person deal with drama, because you can't be alone!😮 Being alone is how you truly find yourself!

My wife of more than 33 years, passed away a few months ago. I miss her companionship, love, and guidance, dearly, but I lived alone for 11 of the 13 years ( I was renting from a couple while in law school) before we met, so I knew how to be alone. I will be 70 soon, and have no desire to remarry or be in a serious relationship. No woman could ever replace my wife and I am a person who enjoys personal freedom and solitude. I tell people that “ I am alone but I am not lonely.”

One advantage in Southeast Asia is it is warm to hot. So people are outside and people meet. Unlike in the US, so much of the time it is cold and people are inside so there is a loss of interaction with people, both male and female. The Nordic countries are very cold and there is a big problem with depression and suicide. So, retiring to Southeast Asia, staying single and just interacting with people would be a good peaceful life. In my case, my wife died and I was very depressed. I met a lady from Vietnam and that was good for me. We are still in the US but I don't like the cold weather. I am 81, (20 year age gap) so concerned about her life when I am gone.

A lot of great thoughts here, and a lot of words of wisdom. I'm just speaking for myself; I've spent the last 30 years being in a marriage with all of the responsibilities and almost NONE of the so-called benefits. No sex since 2009, and what there was before that was not stellar. I've packed my own lunch, done my own laundry and washed my own plate all during that time. Sooo...I'm not missing anything? IDK I'm just feeling like I'd kind of like to rediscover physical touch again. I realize that makes me possibly vulnerable to some sketchy shenanigans heading overseas but it still seems worth a shot.

Just started watching vids like this. Lots of older men coming out of poor to mediocre marriages which were probably bad ideas in retrospect , and they are drawn to this illusion of young women who will fawn over them, cheap housing and other commodities, nice weather and freedom from any social responsibility whatsoever. What I’ve seen is that while there are savings in housing , food etc, many times the women there start to turn and use these men as private ATMs. Almost without exception. These countries are developing , with slowly emerging economies and not a lot of opportunities for women( yet) in some of them. They tend to have large families which will expect these men to subsidize their needs too. You don’t have to go that far to find gold diggers like them. Maybe cast your net closer to home but look for something else in a partner. 70 year olds thinking a 25 year old they’ve just met is head over heels in love with them need a reality check. This guy Paul promotes being alone , yet he’s married. Somehow, even he says it’s not a bed of roses and he’s not having kids or other stresses placed on him. Kinda sketchy.

Lived alone now for 42 years in the states. I live below my means and as a minimalist. My nearest neighbor is a mile as the crow Flys. My only fear is that day that I need someone to notice I've fallen and got hurt, medical issues ect. Also in my older age it would be nice to have someone hold me accountable on taking better care of myself. So I'm starting my reprogramming process for my move to the Philippines. Im doing a slow multiple increment process and not pounding in any stakes anywhere. Also going to leave the American lifestyle, attitudes and value system behind in the states. Good thought provoking video Paul! God bless you two kids! Play nice!

Being single all my life I learned tips after moving to Southeast Asia. You don't need to do dishes. I bring out my finest paper plates and plastic cups. Plastic spoons, forks and knives make it simple. Waking up when you want, sleeping when you want and getting groceries when you want makes days go faster being retired. In the past three years I've hired cleaning help, landscaping help and it's so much easier now. I lived so long being single it's difficult to start compromising everyday. You do need a social network of friends to look after you. But single life is just being happy. All that money you worked hard for all your life, it's time to enjoy this chapter and be comfortable in life.

I wasted 25 years being married to an American woman and the only good thing that came out of it was my son. Now he's off in life and being successful on his own. 5 years ago I met my Filipina and I wouldn't trade her for anything. For the first time in my life I felt valued, admired, loved, and cared for. I truly can't imagine my life without her. I did not seek her out, she just happened to me. I really can't imagine living life without her. We have been together for 5 years and it seems like we're still dating and in love like teenagers. It's okay to be without a woman in life, but when you find one that fits so perfectly, you will feel the same way. I am definitely a person who does not like being alone. Maybe that's a weakness, but I don't feel I've lost any freedom being with my woman.

I know it's not for everyone and it takes some time to adjust but it's nice only having to be responsible for me with no one in my pocket. I think I am going to base myself in Thailand, (the food looks amazing) and travel all around the other side of the world. I still haven't decided whether I'm going to live there part of the year or full time, but I am heading that way to check things out. I will also visit the Philippines. Marriage is a unilateral contract, meaning all the legal benefits go to one party while all the obligations apply to the other party. A high price to pay for a man whose desire for a woman fades very quickly after the lust disappears and the strife begins. I'm a 73 year old never married man who still has a strong desire for beautiful woman, but no desire to meet society's false promise of legal marriage. I'm sure there are exceptions but I've never found one. Some guys are more needy than others as far as having a companion female with them all the time. If you're not that type of a girly man, there's a much better arrangement....and health has a lot to do with it. I think the best living arrangement for 60+ guys is 2 or more Alpha/ real men co habitating with a regular maid to do the cleaning. 1. No drama from crazy females(they all are) 2. Someone to notice if there's a health problem you might not recognize 3. Date how you want. 4. Laugh most of the time. Probably many other things. No sleepover guests more than 1 night. If everyone votes a girl out, they're out, or the guy is out.

Absolutely agree with everything. I'm 61, never married, no kids, over 30 years since my last date and could NOT be happier. I've watched countless friends get hooked up with the wrong mate and have their lives more or less ruined. Not one bit interested in that. No way, Jose! The most impactful words you spoke, and a phrase I myself use often - "They're STILL women!" Truer words were never spoken! Women in the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, etc may be a lot better than most you'll find at home but... They're STILL women! They ALL come with baggage and they ALL come with drama. That’s why diet and exercise and longevity principles are so important! I’m 57 and want to live with active lifestyle and sex past 100 or for as long as I can perform. With TRT and Cialis it should be possible. I have longevity in my family on both sides. Absolutely correct nothing like having independence and getting a rental GF when you need it. You can even work out the long term friends with benefits.

Paul: I hear you about the "what do I inject into a relationship if I'm angry" That is one of the things that hold me back from entering into a relationship. I know if I was angry when starting a relationship with a woman (whom most are mainly running off their emotions and very little logic) it would be a disaster right from the beginning. It would be like entering into peace talks with a bomb strapped to your chest, the outcome would not end well. IT's hard to eliminate the negativity that creates the anger when the people around you keep piling their BS up on the tops of what you are trying to get rid of., even when you tell them to leave you alone. Things are so negative here in the west, and that is why I look mainly for channels from the Philippines to watch. The people are so cheery, happy, and positive that it helps ease the tension from the burden of all this stress and negativity causing the angry side of me to be forced into the fore front. Thankfully there are plenty of channels that I can watch to feel like they lighten the load of those stresses, and help me forget the negativity being constantly piled on top. Would I want to get into a relationship right away if I ever got the opportunity to head for the Philippines? Hell NO! I would want to soak up as much of the culture and positivity that I've seen in the channels I've watched for a while before to erase the negativity and anger from my life before I enter a relationship with a person who has never seen or experienced the horrors I've had to deal with my entire life. It would just not be fair to her, or the possibilities of a great relationship with her. Just my own two cents.

This is one of the best vids I have seen on reality and relationships from any source. Doing the same thing over expecting a different result is the medical term for insanity..lol. People are people in the human condition. Paul does a great job of respectfully stating the factors men seek in a relationship with practical advice on actually creating and sustaining a relationship regardless of where in the world it happens. Unlike other vloggers who offer advice that is sound half the time and the other half disrespect the women in their relationship with overt sexual comments that show they do not have the real maturity to have a solid mutually respectful relationship. (aint no sunshine when she's gone) Love the clean dish advice- just clean your dish, utensils and cup right after you eat, it takes a minute and everything is cleaner, no germs propagating. Dishwashers are for large amounts at one time-not for single people or a couple!

Great video Paul and excellent topic. I remind myself that I could be dead tomorrow (hit by a bus, whatever). Then I make decisions based on this reality. Being single gives you the freedom to meet so many interesting people, free up your time to tick off the bucket list, travel, work as long (or short) as you want, create financial independence and the list just keeps going. If you’re someone who wants or needs to have a girlfriend/wife all power to you. Life is not a one size fits all. Thanks for sharing.

When I first heard about Filipinas...me wanna. But slowly I started to see a little bit behind the social media curtain. Date a 18-30 year old means she's likely wanting to go to college and getting her career going because you are not going to be around forever. Or you get a woman who has never left her village which she doesn't want to leave. She may leave, but it's friction. Dating a single mom is an entirely different thing. There are a lot of insecure guys who feel a single mom is more likely to stay with them....just as there are a lot of Filipinas how think an old, fat, ugly man won't cheat on them. How many guys start off wishing for a single mom? Dating women over 35 has the same problem as in the US...they have their life. They want me to live in their house and their life. I have my own life. These are all great women, but I still have to deal with them. Lot's of compromise...endless compromise. I have the budget to hire a live-in housekeeper and a fully trained live-in caregiver should that be needed. Still plan to move to SE Asia in 2025 (plan A was 2022). When I take a Filipina relationship off the table my view changes entirely. PH moves down the list. Malaysia now tops my list. Then Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia. 24 million tourists visit Malaysia, Thailand. 2 million visit PH. I may not even visit PH. Why would I? I don't scuba dive. Pretty sure I'll get my fill of waterfalls in other countries. Malaysia has cheaper rent, electric blackouts are rare, internet is excellent, food is rated best in the world by many foreigners, medical is best in the world and reasonably priced. Gasoline is 60% less in MY than in PH ($0.45 vs $1.10 USD/liter) and 45% less than in the US ($1.70 vs $3.08 USD/gal). Service and infrastructure is better. And ya know what...they have women there looking for foreign men. 1.7% of the population are single moms, 12% of the PH are single moms.

@@TheProtocol48 Problem I see is Malaysia has no tax treaty with the US and taxes foreign income. Philippines does not tax foreign income. So if you don't have any issues with paying more taxes in retirement you can live anywhere. If you do you will need to find countries who do not tax your foreign income.

I found a dish rack that sits over the sink,so I wash the dishes and they drip dry into the sink. I also found a countertop dishwasher that I intended for my RV, but it’s a little large for that, but it’s perfect for a single person in an apartment. It holds two bowls, two plates and two coffee cups and assorted silverware. Plus it has a cycle for washing fruit and veg and a UV light I haven’t used yet. I usually like being single, but sometimes having companionship is better. If I could work out a part time situation it would be ideal

Great video, Paul. I am 67, retired, a widower for several years in good physical shape with no medical issues and have become accustomed to living on my own. I have not dated anyone since the passing of my beautiful wife of 28 years, and I have no plans to do so. I enjoy traveling and recently returned from a three week vacation in Thailand. I am planning to travel to the Philippines and other SEA countries soon for the experience and enjoyment. As you stated, after a while, a person learns to adapt to his or her new life being alone, at times, by no fault of their own, and it becomes their new way of existing. I miss my loving wife dearly every day, but I have proven to myself that I can travel to a new country, enjoy the culture and people there without committing to a woman from there. It can be done. I plan to live out my life without the need for a new partner or relationship, and remain happy and content until God calls me home and I see my sweetheart greeting me on the other side, to bring me home, this time forever. Take care. God bless.
