My wife and I just celebrated 35 years. The two biggest things for us have been doing a budget on the 1st of every month that is agreed upon. Dave Ramsey Every dollar. Having an allowance category for each of us so we know what we can spend. Any spending beyond that, and we always ask, "what does the budget say?" The other thing is staying in shape. We are both within 5 pounds of when we met 40 years ago.

Show affection to each other in tone of voice, smiles, hugs, snuggle, handholding, taking walks together and laughing together. Continue to have new dreams together. Future trips, donations to causes, volunteer together, increase hospitality to know new people.

Can you explore the ground between #6 (do not respond with a solution) and #8 (don't give solutions right away)? I am a horrible problem-solver.

I went back and listened to this again and I'm not entirely sure of your question. But here is what I think. When Jody and I speak to each other, we try not to always jump with a solution to the problem unless we ask for it. Sometimes we just want to be heard. And maybe we want the other person to think about a response for a day or two. Hope this helps

What do you do when one spouse is retired and the other is not? I am 66 and my husband is 54?
