This video is pointless if your phone screen is broken and you cant see anything but its still operational. If you can figure out how to mirror a cell phone to a computer without using an OTG chord or having to change settings or install apps on your phone YOUR A GENIUS!

The thing is, you describe how to backup your phone with the screen intact, yes the LCD screen it is in fact intact, it's just the digitizer (the glass on top of the LCD screen) that's broken. I have my digitizer AND my LCD screen broken in my G2, so I can't really see anything behind that sheet of broken glass like you do, I see some colors here and there but that is all. So if you asked "can I backup that phone with a broken digitizer?" then the answer should be "Sure, using an otg cable and a mouse you can". But if you asked "Can I backup that phone with a broken screen? (which would imply the digitizer AND the LCD)" then the answer should be "No you cannot"

Update: it works! The adapter came from Amazon, and it was easy to use. My daughter is so thrilled that she could salvage several files from her LG G2! Her screen was so cracked that it was difficult to see anything at all; thankfully, she could still see enough that she was able to navigate to her files and save them to her Google Drive. Jamessawyer010 There are videos on KZbin that show you how to replace your screen. You can also just plug your phone into your computer and if the settings are right, you may be able to access your files like it was a hard drive on your computer. Also, a phone repair store can take the hard drive out of your phone and put it into another phone if it is the exact same model. That's all I got. Hope it helps.

As an FYI - the OTG micro USB tip is longer than some others, so it will not work for all phones. I recently purchased one for my broken Nexus 4, and it would not connect because of the longer stem. Part worked fine with a Note 4 though.

I have never used an iPhone, so I really don't know. The cable is only a few bucks, so it might be worth trying. You can use any mouse, wired or wireless so you don't have to buy a new one.

hi.. due to invalid patterns my lg-g2 device locked and asks for google account username & password which is configured in device. But didnt rembember those credentials. so this OTG cable method will help me to see the google account configured ? Yvette, I'm sorry you're having such trouble. The mouse pointer is very small. Try moving the mouse rapidly and see if you can find it. Also, you can plug a wired mouse into the OTG cable, too. Give that a try and see if you can find the mouse pointer.

I was using a Logitech mouse, but what's more important is the OTG cable. Don't try it with just a male-to-male USB cable. It has to be the OTG cable.

+newjug1234. My wireless storage is at the bottom of the screen. Did you scroll down? Also, you used to be able to set the phone to access the phone files automatically when you connect it to your computer via its cable. I'm not sure how you do that after the update, but I'd think that option should still be there. I bet a Google search would tell you.

I don't think this will work for you. This is only if you can see your screen but your touch control won't work cuz your screen is cracked. There are other videos that show you how to replace the screen. You should have the phone looked at first to see if it works at all.

No, it doesn't have to be a wireless mouse. Other people have plugged in a wired mouse where you would plug in the wireless mouse receiver and it worked that way for them.

I don't really know what you mean by a knock code. I had a PIN on my screen and I was able to click on the numbers using the mouse and unlock my screen to access everything. Ed, if a wireless mouse isn't working for you, you can plug a hard wired mouse into the OTG adapter. You have to have an OTG adapter, not a male-to-male USB cable.

Sorry, I missed your post somehow. I'm not sure about plugging it into your computer. It depends on how you set up your phone. If you set it up to access your files when plugged in, then you should be able to retrieve everything. My phone was set up to only charge the phone when plugged into my computer. To access files I had to use touch screen commands so I had to use the mouse.

There are videos on KZbin that show you how to replace your screen. It's a little complicated, but you can certainly do it yourself which is a lot cheaper than having a tech do it.

Also, you could try just plugging your phone into your computer using the usb cord. Depending on how the phone is set up you may be able to open it just like a hard drive.

I was able to use a wireless mouse and a usb wired mouse. I just used the mice I had around the house. Give it a try with the mouse you have and see if it works. In the video I used a Logitech wireless mouse and it worked fine. No drivers required.

Florian Bender If you are replacing your phone with the exact same model, a phone repair place can take your tiny little phone hard drive out of the broken phone and put it into the new phone and that will retain everything you had in your phone. But it has to be the exact same model.

Make sure you have the correct cable. I tried it with just a male-to-male usb cable and it didn't work. You have to have the OTG cable to make it work.

I would think so. Just hold your mouse button down like you would in any application. My phone had a pin, so I haven't tried it. Give it a try and see if it works.
