The mysterious room has an arcade called Polybius in it. It's a mysterious urban legend about a game that was invented by the military to experiment on kids. Pretty cool that it's in this. It shows the developers knows their video game history. Worth a google and reading about. Great video by the way! I am getting this!

The “different kind of arcade cabinet” you’re mentioning in the video, 03:57 is called a candy cabinet. Those cabinets are found almost exclusively within Japan.

Your Arcade is amazing, but you failed to explain all the stuff that is needed to be downloaded and added via sidequest to actually get it working. Can you please make us a video detailing more of the steps needed to install the game roms and cabinets, and the best place to download them all from? There seems to be so much more needed to actually get this up and running than you let on to in the original video. Please help us out...

They are. They just switched APIs to android 12L's, which messed up some stuff, but everything will be curse-corrected shortly as the modding community sorts it all out.

@@JoinUsInVR Oh, and native a native port of the PPSSPP emulator that can actually turn regular PSP games into VR just like the VR-oriented fork on PC. With just a little thinking there's some games, specially Outrun 2 and both Wipeouts, that almost feel like native content except for the obvious lack of motion control integration. You just can't miss that, it's just too good.

I have New Retro Arcade for the PC and it is fully laoided with games. I tried to add my favorite arcade ggame from back in the Day, Elevator Action, but could not get it to work. Glad you were able to get it working here.

It isnt multiplayer yet. It's a new program, and we cant have all the things we want right away. It doesnt even have MAME sound sample support yet. Give it time, donate to the project, and it may happen sooner than later.

Retro arcade already exists and allows you to multiply with people while walking around an arcade. However, it's really not that fun after awhile. Loses it's appeal pretty quick when you realize the controls suck.

Okay, set it up yesterday. It's not as customizable as New Retro Arcade Neon, but so simple to set up and it's fantastic that it's self-contained. It's a great start, and I can see a lot of potential for further development. A jukebox or just even a way to customize music playing would be cool. Eventually getting product from the vending machines, playing some pool, option to adjust height so you can play seated, etc. But this is just a fantastic way to quickly and easily build a fun arcade.

I had New Retro Arcade in VR for several years and it's great, but it was always empty of people and I don't think the developers ever updated it. But this is awesome.

Looks cool! Sort of like EmuVR but for an arcade instead of a childhood bedroom. Impressive that they got this working so well on a Quest 2 standalone. It's a shame there's no PC VR version (as it would be nice to be able to play without the cabinets popping in/changing size, etc.) and that there aren't options for players to really customize the space, but hopefully that stuff can all be added later.

The performance is quite good. Not sure if they implemented yet the option to turn off NPCs but I do know it's on their to-do list.

The purpose of the "dead end" is the Polybus machine. It's a joke... the urban legend video game, a rumor born around 2001, that was supposedly a government mind control device that was tested at an arcade in 1982 or so. That same game has made about a dozen movie cameos lately

EmuVR is awesome but I never took the time to really set it up properly. I love Neon as well, but it can be a pain running it from Steam.

Hi...thank you for your video, do you know if there is a way to play galaga only? or do you have to get the Retro Arcade and purchase them as you go? Ii don't totally understand this world yet, but I just bought a Meta2 for my daughter and I am about to buy one for myself. I thought it would be super cool to play galaga as I used to LOVE that game. Not to say there are not a million other games they have that look awesome, but I figured you would be able to answer my question. :)

Not currently, not officially, but there's a workaround: using a standalone android emulator that does light gun emulation inside of the AOJ app and fixing manually the screen inside of a cabinet, effectively covering its virtual screen with your chosen one, then play: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hF6ylomHjKaDj5I

You can upload any rom you want, it will just play in the default Age of Joy cabinet if the artwork isn't uploaded.

So many questions, Pinball? Light gun games? What happens if you're in the middle of a game and walk away, will the game run until you die or run out of time ? Do the other games around you turn off when you start a game? Do the Midways games run? (NBA jam, NFL Blitz) Does it have racing cabinets? Does it have the custom style cabinets like, Jurassic Park? Can you invite others over to your creation for simultaneous multiplayer? Assuming it's a hardware limitation, but can you put more games into a single room?

I was setting it up last night, I still have work to do. You use Sidequest to put the cabinet artwork into the “cabinets” folder belonging to the app. It then generates the cabinets for you. These cabinets are like running demos then until you install the roms where they become operable

They're placed automatically in the rooms. You can't move cabinet locations, but you can move which game/artwork appears on each cabinet, via a config file you access by connecting the Quest 2 to a computer.

@@deadli-us You do have control of where the games show up. The config file is along the lines of: Room 1 Cabinet 1 Cabinet 2 Cabinet 3 Etc Room 2 Cabinet 1 Cabinet 2 Cabinet 3 Etc You can then edit the config file so Room 1 > Cabinet 1 is Gauntlet, Room 1 > Cabinet 2 is Paperboy etc etc. What you can't do is move the location of the actual cabinet in each room, e.g move a cabinet closer to another one, move it next to the door etc etc.
