I'm glad someone else has taken up the mantle of VR arcade simulation. I really enjoyed New Retro Arcade, but those devs basically gave up on that game years ago. I'm glad this game isn't on steam yet. I prefer these when they have some brands in them. Once someone starts selling on steam the realistic looking NES suddenly becomes "The Funnicom" because they don't want Nintendo coming after them. Hopefully this dev sticks with it for a while. Also, seeing this video reminded me about EmuVR, which led me to find out it had an update on Christmas!

When I made my first comment I only noticed the EmuVR update, but hadn't seen what it was. It is actually a huge update lol. They have added the ability to add custom items. People are making arcade cabinets, nokia phones, basketball hoops, toys, computers, etc... It's insane. The Dev even said that custom levels aren't supported at the moment but it is coming soon!

I've been playing this for a few days now. It's your own personal arcade. The detail Halfdeck has put into this is amazing. Hes pretty ok to chat to on discord. Just be respectful. Man his discord is going to blow up now KZbinrs are covering this. The mortal kombat 2 doesn't work but the mk1 rom works on that cab. Its Fall Guy on the tele. You can just move away from the cab and the game will exit itself.

DR PEPPER...If you mix Amaretto or Disaranno, which are basically the same alcohol, amaretto is cheaper. Mix it with coke add ice and you will have your Dr Pepper experience my friend. Mixing these tastes exactly the same as Dr Pepper, it wont be as nice as using regular coke but should scratch your itch, enjoy 😉

Yeah it's pretty cool. I've been in a few of these VR arcades/gamerooms and this is the coolest. The music added really helps to sell the atmosphere. Seeing these cabs at full scale is really nice. I had no idea Zookeeper had a lit bezel at the bottom lol. Seems Taito did this for some of their games. I was able to let my wife stand in front of the Popeye cab and show her why it's my most coveted cabinet lol. Simply gorgeous from top to bottom.

To the people that parrot "What's the point of playing a 2D game in VR?" every time a 3rd person VR game is released: This, this is the point because 3rd person games are fun. If 3rd person perspective game is fun to play in real life as millions of kids did in arcades over the decades, then that same game would be fun to play in VR be it on virtual cabinet in a virtual arcade room, or inside the virtual world of the game itself you're playing (ala Moss or Witchblood).

The 4+ player Konami cabs originally required you to place a coin in for each character. In this app you can hit the vr controller trigger to rotate through each coin slot before adding a coin.

Leverage this with UEVR which is working on an update to better use pass through mode on headsets. If I understand correctly, the update if it happens will basically let you select objects/puppets you want to see in passthrough, and it'll chromokey everything else so virtual desktop paints that chromakey with pass through video. I'm sure further in the future, MR games will be able to input the 3D scans of your room and let you pick the light sources to more realistic MR environments so the elements are effected by lights in your real room, and those elements cast light on your room.

This looks amazing. If I had a VR headset, I'd definitely love this game and all the retro realism. Was you viewing angle set too low in the first area at 17:58? I looked like you were crouched in front of the machines and instead of stand over and looking down. Also, please tell me there was a "Disks of TRON" machine on one of the floors? You can have an arcade without that classic, especially the sit-down version. Lastly, is the Pasadena Level based on the location in Pasadena, California? If so, the layout is very different than the one I remember back in the early 90s. Must have been updated.

As somebody who played The Simpsons arcade cabinet for real when I was a wee little one, I can tell you it's because they had seperate coin slots for each character. The rom can only take "player 1" coins, thus always making you Marge :D

@@johnlacquey7240 most mame roms configuration screens allow you to map many buttons/inputs to emulate the full arcade cabinet setup. You could probably map coin inputs for players 2 - 4 on the second analogue stick or the shoulder buttons/triggers as those probably aren't used in any of the games.

Simpsons 4-player has player 1 always as Marge. The 2-player rom lets you pick your character. With the 4-player rom, you'd need to insert coins for 2 player (6 key), 3 player (7 key), or 4 player (8 key) to play as Bart, Lisa, or Homer. MAME is the emulator.

I wish he would add the option to add your own arcade machines. He is missing some important ones. Like space invaders, frogger, dig dug, gyrus. Maybe one of the shadowed out levels could be more generic but allow you to add your own game roms to the cabs. I installed all the game roms they list and there are 196 roms in total and they need to come from the 2010 mame set also called v0.139. That was the best thing about New Retro Arcade Neon that you can buy on steam and it looks really good too if you want to check it out.

Wow, this video hits hard, first of all, I literally DIDN'T have a Dr. Pepper last night (just flipped to night switch) because I didn't know it had caffeine (let alone more than coke or pepsi). Oh yeah, in order to change which player you are in multi stick games like the Simpsons or TMNT, you pull the trigger once you've started to game, then to the upper left you can see what players are active.

I remember it well when it first appeared in my local arcade. There was a crowd of people around it watching others play and waiting for their turn. I was totally mesmerised by it. The only other arcade game I remember people queuing to play was when Double Dragon first appeared. Here's a random Golden Axe factoid for you in case you weren't already aware which I only discovered a few years ago... when you kill the lower tier bad guys, the sound of their death cry was actually a sound sample taken from the first Conan film! As if the game couldn't be any cooler.

To play Turtles, Simpsons and X-Men with different characters you specifically download the 2 player version of the rom. Turtles for example is Turtles2po ROM name or something like that. The 4 player cabs were linked to each individual coin slot which is why you can't select other players.

The multiplayer universe with other avatars is pretty much what I'm waiting on before I dive headfirst into this thing. Until then, it kinda reminds me of the very last time I visited a local arcade, when I was literally the only customer there, and the only other people were businessmen clearly in the middle of assessing how they were going to get rid of everything. The "ghost town" aspect is just... deeply depressing. Almost "luminal spaces" levels of unsettling.

@@thefonzkiss turns out the controllers are assigned to a character in the 4 player rom so it defaults to marge as thats the 1st character and uses the 1st controller. I had the same happen to me and aasumed it was a quirk of the single player rom

Each cabinet has a specific character choice depending on which joystick you put you coin into. That's probably was happening with the Simpsons.

For the Simpsons, the character is per player. So if you insert player 1 coins and 1st player start, it will only be Marge. If you insert player 2 coins and player 2 start, you use only Homer

Only thing it needs is an "out of order" modifier where there's a small chance for something to be off about the cabinet. Nothing's more authentic arcade than trying to play, say, Tetris with a jacked up joystick or blown out monitor, lol.
