70s and 80s cartoon voice over veterans Alan Oppenheimer, Dan Gilvezan, Michael Bell actually was involved in the English version. That's why the voice overs are so good.

I believe that Ys Origins is the only game in the series where Adol isn't featured.

I really enjoyed Book I and Ys III. The Genesis version of Ys III plays the best but the overall experience with music and voice acting (yes, I appreciated the mediocrity of it) is definitely TG-CD.

Where can I play them today on either switch or Xbox?

The only Ys games currently on Switch are Origins, VIII, and IX. Xbox One has Origins. Falcom announced last year that they would be bringing their retro Ys titles to modern systems, and the remake of part 3 is coming later this year. Part 1 and 2 are still available on Steam for PC, but none of the current gen consoles currently.

Awesome game...and Ys III: Wanderers from Ys is pretty good too. P.S. Too bad the TG-CD version of Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys never got a localized release in the West...that's the best version of Ys IV.
