Lower budget and the US version didn't have as much competition when it came to other shows animation styles. So they figured with such a low bar they didn't have to strive to do better and that kids "would like it anyway" because they are dumb. And it worked for the most part.

I would agree. Even crazier is that recently I saw another English dub with the Japanese BGM (on Tubi TV) and I immediately thought, "Eh, this ain't what I remember." Only because I grew up watching the English version with the song "Ultra" in the background while Chun-Li is beating the piss out of Vega (and I still have that DVD). I'll admit, I'm used to watching Street Fighter anime subbed, but this more recent dub (English audio with Japanese BGM) sort of threw me for a loop...in a good way

The TV show has not aged well. I recall watching it years ago and enjoying it. The movie obviously is superior but then again it has a bigger budget so perhaps that is to be expected. I seem to recall Bison having some great lines in the TV show though. Something about him killing fathers and Bison saying "I killed my father too and you don't hear me complaining about it!"

you should do one on the darkstalkers ova's(2nd favorite capcom anime after the street fighter animated movie and sharing the spot with the power stone anime which you should show moments from as well.) & the cartoon(which while worse than the street fighter cartoon i honestly like more for having the games theme trouble man in the end credits and scott mcneil as lord raptor like the ova's.).:3 man i forgot how bad the street fighter cartoon was(especially with how cocky chun li was compared to her stern but kind,cheerful nature in the animated movie.) but i really love chun li(especially her cute pout and her pragmatism during her fight with vega.) in the animated movie(just wish we saw her take on m. bison with ryu & ken even though it was realistic she ended up in a coma from how brutal her injuries were and maybe have cammy as a partner to guile since a lot of promotional material imply she and chun li were going to fight in the beginning and i would've liked that instead of disappearing after being interrogated and sagat possibly going after her though i like to think he just got blown up when shadaloo's base was blown sky high by the military at the end.)
