i'm french and i have a Citroën Saxo with no central locking, but there are wire in the doors that are unused, can i install central locking on my sax ? thanks
@crpth17 жыл бұрын
+Miiick3y - If you have the wire loom with the pre-install option for the central locking you're very lucky. Because it solves the biggest issue of retrofiring the solenoids. ;-)
@ibzkoty8 жыл бұрын
Do you have a rough idea of the dimensions of the solenoids that come with the HAWK kit, I cant seem to find this info.
@peugeotCitroen2CV8 жыл бұрын
ibzkoty Its been quite some time since i did this and ive no spare solenoids to measure, but roughly guesstimating the solenoid size id say 40x40x100mm would be its square size. The rod can be shaped to suit.

did you reattach the evaporation barrier and how so? and isn't there aleady wire looms coming from the door connecting to the car? (the rubber thing)
@peugeotCitroen2CV10 жыл бұрын
the evaporation barrier; a bit of heat from a hairdryer to get the glue sticky again normally does the trick, failing that some tigerseal works very well, although its ackward to get off in the future. As for the wiring looms, yes there is bits and pieces there, but the problem is getting all the oem bits second hand, it should be much easier but most breakers on ebay dont respond when asking for the parts, and any 106es in scrapyards here are usually the same spec.
@jackauger87419 жыл бұрын
peugeotCitroen2CV did you use a fuse when you connected it up to the battery?
@peugeotCitroen2CV9 жыл бұрын
Jack Auger Yes the hawk kit came with an inline fuse, but incase the kit doesnt come with one its a good idea to fit a fuse incase any wires break the fuse will blow rather than start a fire

Nice video ! I have a peugeot 106, 1993 model and I'm thinking of buying one of these cheap ebay kits. The problem is that it's a 5 door with no wiring on the doors, so It's gonna be a pain in the rear end :P I didn't understand why I need the original looms though (I can't find them anywhere anyways). I was thinking of buying some spare wires to connect the solinoids with the central locking ecu. Is it possible ?
@peugeotCitroen2CV5 жыл бұрын
The original looms were used here to ensure the wiring was done tidily although with the right trunking grommets etc it would be possible to make a good loom across to the rear doors. Its all very much a case of fabricating something up to suit.
@ioannisboukas20395 жыл бұрын
@@peugeotCitroen2CV thanks for the reply. Since I can't find the looms I'm going to connect the locks with some spare wires I'll buy. Looking at the haynes manual (12.13 page 12, book 1882) I can see that the wiring after the door locking control unit goes to ignition switch and then passenger fuse box. Can I just put a 20A fuse (f8 in passenger fuse box) and connect my positive wire there ?
@peugeotCitroen2CV5 жыл бұрын
@@ioannisboukas2039 I can only say give it a go, i dont have a haynes manual to compare the wiring diagram with but plug a fuse in and use a multimeter to see if your getting any power out

@@peugeotCitroen2CV It's been a while but I've managed to get the kit to work to my car (Peugeot 106 1.4 1993, 5 door). Many thanks ! Great video! Quick tip: for the 5 doors the universal kit doesn't work right out of the box at the 2 rear doors, you have to drill the hole of the power motor a little bit and then fit it directly on the car's lock - there is a spike-like thing where the original power lock would've been.

Hey man, have you ever done a dashboard change on a 106 cause i have the old cluster and i want to change for the new one but theres like some kind of connectors for it and what do i need for it? Thanks
@peugeotCitroen2CV6 жыл бұрын
Hi no i have never removed a full 106 dashboard, i have removed the instrument cluster in the 106 foglight retrofit video. What are the differences between the two instrument cluster? More dials or different years of car?

peugeotCitroen2CV theres the one that has a digital odometer that comes from 1998-2003 and another one that has manual one 1992-1999, i just kinda found out its impossible to change without soldering the wires but thanks for replying anyway also about the central locking is it possible to get the indicators flashing like the other cars
@peugeotCitroen2CV6 жыл бұрын
Changing from a mechanical to digital odometer may indeed require a bit of rewiring one of the citroen saxo/106 clubs may have a guide on this, it is not something i have attempeted. I think some kits out there will flash the indicators, this one was a fairly basic one so did not do that.

You said your subaru already had central locking, does that mean you only had to wore up one motor for the drivers door to make them all unlock? I've got a legacy with central locking, no remote. What's the best kind of kit for me to buy? Thanks in advance!
@peugeotCitroen2CV10 жыл бұрын
Ahy i only had to wire up one motor for the drivers door and the rest of the doors do whatever the drivers door does. This kit still works in the subaru with no issues
@alexdollard91486 жыл бұрын
how did you pass the wiring through the door?
@peugeotCitroen2CV6 жыл бұрын
I had to get door wiring looms from a car that had central locking. The resin cap they put on the end of the connector makes it hard to run extra wires through.
@alexdollard91486 жыл бұрын
Can't get a loom so going to have to go through the cap. Is it easy to access on the car side.
@peugeotCitroen2CV6 жыл бұрын
They are getting harder to get nowadays, the connectors have that resin stuff on both sides unfortunaltey. Perhaps check the forums i think it might just be a bit of an issue with these wiring looms, a nuisance for adding wires to. Possibly one option would be to try and add a second hole and some sort of conduit from the a pillar to door to bring the extra wiring, it would require more drilling and probably removing the door but would be a good way around that connector. Its a shame they made them like that.

Which kit did you purchase, where from and how much?
@peugeotCitroen2CV10 жыл бұрын
Its a hawk central locking kit, it was on eBay for £20, there are probably more expensive kits about, but this one is easy to install, and works without any issues.
