This game is FANTASTIC. If Xbox was in a GREAT state during the Xbox one launch, I think more people would've played this and it would've been succesful. This game is one of the few games that STILL hold up 10+ years later graphically(like Arkham Knight) and still looks AMAZING. I wish we could've seen a sequel with refined gameplay, they could've kept the graphics exactly the same.. Also we need more Gladiator AAA games.

The graphics were incredible for the time and still hold up really well on PC even now. Combat is a bit simplistic after a while, but realistic too as a consequence. On the highest difficulty, with a proper grasp of the quick time system, you'll have enough diverse finishers to keep things interesting and enough challenge in combat to keep it engaging. Story was pretty awesome too. Sucks we never got a sequel, but at least it's still accessible on PC.

I liked this launch title for the Xbox One but it has many flaws. I think the graphics for that time were INSANE and still hold up very nicely. The biggest critique I have for this title is the repetitive simple gameplay, you repeat the same or similar gameplay loop over and over again, however one positive when it comes to this loop is that it can be satisfying because the game is not easy, you will have some challenging moments here and there. Overall a 7,5/10 game for me, would still recommend playing in 2024 you can probably find it for dirt cheap and for a bargin price you can't go wrong with Ryse Son of Rome.

I will add I used to agree about disc on the left. But if your right handed you pull open and then hold with left and take disc out with you right hand and it circumvents some clunk to getting the disc out the case. So I actually support and appreciate this more as I build my collection.

Before them (they got traction in late 7th gen), a very small percentage of people would care about the amount of pixels on screen. Then, suddenly, everyone was going nuts over pixels and a few frames here and there. In the end, everyone played the very same games.

I'm currently playing it on PC and absolutely loving it. Back when it first came out, I think I avoided it due to the mixed reviews, with many calling it boring, then I just forgot about it altogether. But honestly, it’s not bad at all, it's actually a lot of fun. The combat and executions are really satisfying, and even in 2025, the game still looks fantastic.

With the amount of love and attention this game seems to be getting in 2024, if the developers don’t want to make a sequel, I don’t see why they can’t revisit Ryse and add more simple content to the online arena mode. They can add a 4 player mode with new enemy variety,and weapons, along with new maps and game modes.

I remember the story kept my playing I spite of the controls and combat. Xbox one was great in the beginning. Picture in picture cable to watch sports while gaming, voice commands, Skype w family, and of course a good launch lineup. They messed up with the price point-almost all of my 360 buds switched to ps4 😢

The game is far from perfect, but I think the very negative reviews were not really fair. Yes, the game is just hack and slash and the story is very linear, but it is still fun to play. I think this game could have been better if they risked making it open world. Imagine being able to explore Rome,to travel to different corners of the empire, including Britannia that was already in the game.

I didn’t bother to comment first time bc it’s so tangential, but might as well say it now if commenting helps signal boost the reupload So my tangent is about: the yellow paint comment I think you even mentioned this yellow paint thing in the retro rewind for gladiator or maybe it was in the realm of the dukes idk so I just wanted to say yes, the yellow paint thing can be annoying. BUT it exists for a reason. It’s an accessibility thing within game design. Whether for blind/low vision gamers, cognitive issues, or even just a lack of gaming knowledge for more casual audiences, the yellow paint thing is a “necessary evil” that helps players navigate a game world. It’s annoying to capital G “Gamers” like us who are deep in the soup, but the majority of people who engage with games do so casually, and they very rarely actually finish games. So any bit of friction or frustration - as simple as not knowing where to go - is something devs have to account for by planning for the most casual, inexperienced, etc. of their audiences - even if that means paint slathered everywhere and player characters gamesplaining every puzzle to you after five seconds of standing still Where I think devs could actually improve isn’t default removing the yellow paint design principle, but rather get better at including settings or difficulty options that let you turn it down or off. I always remember shadow of the tomb raider being good about letting you turn that sort of thing down Too long for a random tangent not even about the game at the heart of this vid but hey. I figured why not 😅

I wish I'd gotten this game sooner, it was absolutely misjudged and overlooked by almost every outlet when it released. Incredible visuals, great optimization and performance, and simple fun gameplay. I feel like outrage over Xbox One killed the game versus it being judged for it's own merits. Edit: Dead Rising 3 is the best in the franchise. Best gameplay, controls, features, content, visuals and performance in the franchise. Not to mention campaign coop DR3 is easily exceeds every other entry in every category with the arguable exception of story. DR3 didn't have the best narrative compared to DR2.
