You hit the nail on the head when you said ‘ I’ll break it so you don’t have to”, spot on mate, your vids do exactly as you intend them to, give a normal person a bit more of an understanding and proving you can do some things yourself. Keep it up mate and don’t let the haters wear you down, think of your blood pressure 😉😀😀😀😀😀

OMG Thank You so much for this tutorial. I'm from Poland and couldn't find so complete intructions for disassembling tilt mechanism and believe me i've searched wide and through and couldn't find any information on how to pull out the handle. There where some written description but it wasn't enough. You saved my buttocks :D Thank you one more time :)

Martin, your a very clever man and your son is going the same way. I have learnt the printing side from you and raise money for Bulldog Rescue doing it. Why not, you get in the work shop and do a little video of your working life. From messing with your bike when you were a kid to the you now. As always Martin the Videos are great. Well done and keep them coming. Roly x

An excellent instructional video. These seats I believe are made by Recaro and the mechanism design is common to many cars - I had to do virtually the same cable change on my Peugeot 406 coupe drivers seat 18 months ago which was also a Recaro design. It's quite a fiddly job.

Well done Martin on your first shown Vauxhall Astra seat repair on KZbin I think those black tabs are part of the headrest bezel for either locking them into the seat frame or to hold the headrest in place the bezels can be fitted in after the seat covering are fitted

From recollection when I did a repair on my Saab seat (they are GM) the headrest tubes were held in by plastic clips which were part of the tubes which you accessed from inside of the the tube by prizing with a screwdriver or a hook type tool and lift at the same time.

Two small screwdrivers into the slots of the headrest tubes, push the tabs back and lever and the tubes pop upwards and out and are reuseable.

They make jobs difficult and parts breakable to make you buy brand new or go to dealerships. Manufacturers have created a throwaway society sadly. They don't want people to have a go themselves to repair items cheaply and easily. I love watching your videos and videos from other resourceful have a go engineers.

Interesting problems, I don't think the headrest inserts were ever meant to be removed after fitting. However I would be tempted to screw a large nut on the plastic at the very bottom of the insert when you refit them to stop them pulling out. All the best!
