Sekonda Watches: Copacabana Beach (1976/7) directed by Bob Bierman. Anchor New Zealand Butter - one of the 'Seaside' ads from 1980. A year later they did a similar one called 'Zoo'. Bill Oddie voicing the cat in the Thomson ads. Lurpak Butter: Scuba Diver (1986/7) directed by Peter Lord and David Sproxton. Music by Peter Skellern. Kimberly-Clark Kimwipes (1985/6) directed by Jerry Hibbert. V/o sounds like Anton Rodgers. Fiesta Kitchen Paper: Origami (1986/7) directed by Mike Cozens. v/o by Herbert (Bert) Kwouk. Gareth, I've started working back through my videos and pinning your comments with the useful information. Been meaning to do this for a little while now. There are a lot of videos to go through, but I'll do them a handful at a time so they'll all get done eventually and any you do in future will be pinned. Don't take this as a pressure to provide that info in the future, just do it if you still feel like doing it. I'll pin any info lists you do on future videos. Thanks for the research. 👍
@garethbramley12 жыл бұрын
Good idea! I've only really been checking one (sometimes 2) source as it takes much longer, as you know, to check others. When I researched the clips on 'Obsolete Archive' I used 4/5 sources but sometimes some were unavailable. Also, as you will see if you look on the channel, they are single clips so took less time. I have a lot of info on 60s / 70s / 80s ads that interested me but it's scattered about and I can't possibly remember it. If you do a Pepsi compilation I will find my info and comment with full details. I will say that anything outside the 80s is really outside my remit and I only bother to comment if it's a special ad or of interest. And there are a few gems, especially those by Ridley Scott (RSA Films) and a few others. As for modern ads (say 2000 onwards) - I'm afraid I don't bother to look unless one hits me in the face because it has a certain actor or actress. Jingles seemed to end after the 80s - to be replaced by pop songs (just like cinema films) so they became less interesting.😀
@RetroSteveUK2 жыл бұрын
@@garethbramley1 Right, that's interesting. I wondered how you were able to grab the info. Any you can / want to do .. it's all good. Don't feel duty bound though. As for the eras, my hard and fast rule is if it's pre-widescreen it can be included, (although I am a LITTLE selective even if that criterion is followed.)
@garethbramley12 жыл бұрын
I found that a lot of the 'titles' were listed on one particular site but I've not looked for months and months now as it was often down and a lot of the 80s ones were not there. They do not list voiceovers (apart from the odd one) so it's a case of relying on one's listening skills. I recognise a lot more voiceovers but can't put names to them.

The Findus brand was killed by the 2016 horsemeat scandal, in which many ready meals by various companies were discovered to contain undeclared horsemeat in addition to (or instead of) the beef stated on the label. You added some PIF's (Public Information films) in there. Do you have a collection of these to make up for a video? Growing up I found many of the PIFs pretty scary. The Government didn't always create new ones either. I remember some that were shown in the mid 80's that were definitely made in 70's! Many had a distinctive sound, as they would generally play the video first, with the sound kicking in a second or two later!
