Agreed it was a pointless addition that only serves as Lucas trying desperately to connect his original trilogy to the prequels. The “no” being exactly what he said as Vader once finding out about Padme and then with the force ghosts replacing the original Anakin actor with Hayden (which makes no sense) just trying to remind people that the Anakin at the end of Jedi is the same person in the prequels… duh we know that.

Not perfect, but parts of it are sublime. Luke's torment from two Sith Lords, seeing the fleet battle out the window going badly, knowing about the team on the forest moon being trapped and still not cracking is quite possibly the most Star Wars thing in the whole trilogy. Really the only thing you can knock is that the Ewok battle is a bit silly. Wish they'd made that a little more plausible somehow. Everything else is exactly how this conclusion should be. Luke's a strange hero. He wins in Star Wars by turning off all his assisted targeting and letting his moves be guided fully by the Force. He avoids losing completely in Empire by giving over his fate to chance and he wins in Jedi by refusing to do what the Emperor wants and trusting his father to do the right thing.

I think he was just saying that in terms of Luke's general sword play. The "high ground" line wasn't even thought of until Episode 3 was shot. And it honestly makes no sense in the context of sword fighting. On YT you can find videos where real life fencers and sword experts analyze that scene and other star wars scenes, and basically all of them say that having the high ground is actually a hindrance in a sword fight. Why? Well, when you're the higher man you have to defend your legs as well as attack. When you're the lower man you only have to worry about defending your upper body (like you normally would), but are able to attack your foes legs.. when Obi Wan killed Darth Maul, Maul was literally above him.

34:14 THIS was the point of the franchise: the return of "the Jedi." 1. Best guess is that Han was Jabba's "trophy" for about a year and a half before the rescue. 2. Vader discovered Leia as Luke's sister because he could feel it in Luke. Luke didn't know that until just before then. 3. Luke's light sabre is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape. 4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related. 5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han. 6. This was Warrick Davis'/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13. Willow is his lead with Val Kilmer and worth a first time/share.😎 7. Obvious CGI with the race through the forest. Nobody in their right mind would go that fast. 8. A little corn. Hans' reaction to Leia telling him Luke is her brother. 9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the picture. 10. This is the best of the original George Lucas Star Wars. After this he sold it to Disney and everything changed. Sadly

I mean, would it have killed Yoda to give Luke a little practical advice in between all the philosophy? "Luke, when face the Emperor you do, beware. He shoots force lightning from his hands. Block it, your lightsaber can. Throw away your only weapon in front of him, you must NOT."

If you think Luke and Leia's kiss was bad, check out the non-canon novel 'Splinter of the Mind's Eye' It takes place before Empire Strikes Back and has Luke and Leia seriously lusting for each other. At one point she has to pretend that she is his slave girl too.

The original was the better Anakin for the end scene, in my opinion. Especially since a lot of people who watched the movies over the last 20 years have watched them in release order (the proper order, IMO) so they have no foundation for who the young kid is at the end.

@@thatpatrickguy3446 exactly. i mean i don't really mind them adding in more planets and stuff, that if fine. afterall it is a galzy. and even the song wsa fine. i like them both. but chaning anikin was the one dumb thing in that scene. ever watch HISHE videos? there was one where luke says "thanks for appearing the way i knew you father instead of some other form i wouldn't recoginiize"

I agree with your guys criticisms but I really do hope she continues with the prequels. Ep. 5 and 3 are both on my top star wars movies from all 1-6. We don't talk about 7-9 but it sounds like he really doesn't care for the prequels which is fine. I'm just wondering if the star wars reactions are over for good? I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy her 1-3 reactions for better or for worse.

I think the train wreck that was the sequels made people look more fondly on the prequels. The first one kind of sucks, but the others told the story competently, although anakin as a emo whiny twerp does take away from him as darth vader.

@@FinalBossWTMN The Stormtroopers' armor should have been more effective, but the show Mythbusters tested what would happen if you hit armored vehicles with a swinging tree trap like they used against the AT-ST. Slamming two tree trunks together will turn an armored truck into a pancake.

In the 2004 DVD release, George Lucas explained the reason behind why Yoda told Luke that Darth Vader was his father. Lucas had consulted with a child psychologist during the making of the film. The psychologist said that unless it was unequivocally stated that Vader was Luke's father, moviegoers age twelve and under would dismiss Vader's claim to be Luke's father as a lie.
