I used to run a '67 K/10 Suburban, [454/TH350/NP205/12-Bolt 3.73 Rear -- on 33x12.50x15s] back in the '90s. It was nuts in a slip or spin. Once, i was driving too fast on snowpack at a ski area, and plowed the nose 3 feet into a snowbank. No damage, just snow. After that I put an Auburn Posi on the rear. Then it was a tank. @@gruntengr4197 Obviously not the original engine. Since there is very little called out on the SPID, I'm assuming it was equipped in Fremont with a V8 283/SM420/T221/3.73 powertrain. The PO redneck-engineered a 454/TH350/NP205 into the beast. It sure went fast. Fuel economy -- not so much. And it didn't like to stop. Sometimes it was a situation of Select Alternate [Soft ]Target. The beauty of General Motors' designs in this period was the vast array of interchangable components.

Excellent video! I lived in Pennsylvania, there was a guy that happenchance own a state police mustang 5.0 from 1988. He always showed up at car shows. The kicker was he is also a state cop too! he too, like you went through many hurdles trying to find original parts. Back in 1988-1990ish parts were interchangeable with crown victorias and chevy caprices such for mountings, but the items were somewhat one-off different. the cb system, boosters and such were mounted INSIDE trunk while the wiring went into a slave box which was inside the original radio bay. so it wouldn't stick out. the driver wouldn't skin his knuckle alive trying to change gear. there was no shotgun mount in the mustang. However the mustang was beefed up. about 350 horsepower, (which was a lot back in 1988) the original power was 225 maybe? had one row blue lightbar. side spot lights. cb's, antennas, extra battery packs, walled off rear compartment with wire cage, it was a cool sight

Some CHP Sgts and Lts carried Mini-14 rifles in their cars in the 1980's, STO's didn't get Mini-14 rifles until the late 1980's. They also switched to the S&W 4006 (.40 S&W) semi-auto around 88/89. The shotgun was a Remington 870 mounted on or next to the transmission tunnel in the front. The main CHP cars in 68-70 were Polaras with 440 engines. When the Polaras accelerated out of the SF office onto the Bay Bridge ramp, they'd strip the bias-ply tires off the rims and flipped a car or two. They were instructed to get on the freeway slowly. This truck from the same era may have seen the slick track too, as the CHP Academy used a skid pad / track in the late 1960's. You were rated for track speed both in forward and reverse.

Yeah its debatable that time and people could of made the changes , but I definitely dont remember seeing the hand written numbers on it. I went back and looked at my records of when I bought the ford and it was September of 2003. The guy I bought it from had everything advertised in hemming's motor news (where I found the ford). There is a chance that the suburban was also advertised as well. You may want to look into the hemming's archives from months before that and it may turn up a lead for more info on it?? Should buy a beautiful Remington replica and put that in the holder 🫡 besides that beautiful build congrats guys The fact the unit made it through the skid pad and drove home even more dope!

Yes we need one! Thank you, we drive it just about everywhere we go. Just did a 600 mile round trip in it to a C10 show!

I wouldn't drive around with it if you do it's not illegal if its fake but when you get pulled over they aren't gonna know its fake and probably draw guns on you

@@redtra236 Maybe in commie states? As long as they leave it secure, they should be fine regarding being drawn on. Definitely will extend the traffic stop. Probably should just hide the replica in the back or wrap it up until they are displaying the vehicle. Leaving the replica stowed will cause too much drama with both the criminal element smashing in the windows to steal it and extend a law enforcement traffic stop since in most/some true American states outside Commiefornia, only permit a handgun to be available for CCW/CHP purposes, and nothing else.

“We’re not the tire police” If ANYONE was the tire police, it’ll be the CHP.. I’m a cop, they are DEFINITELY the tire police.

Occasionally I'll see one of those antenna mounts at a country yard sale or sometimes some old estate sale somewhere here in the Central Valley. (California) where do you prefer to be contacted if I run across another?

Cool that you scored some time period & old school parts from them ,its getting harder to find time period parts ,i got a extensive time period parts collection of NYPD lights, full lightbars ,sirens, brackets & mounts as well as the radio equipment from the 80's- 90's as well as lights from the 50's thru early 2000's, alot of the film production & movie car facilities buy ,rent or sometimes borrow lights or equipment from me ,chances if you seen a old police car 🚔 in a flick or TV show, it might be my lights on it

That would have been great if there was an emergency down the road and they needed that winch to save the day. Put the old girl to work for the day
