I'm with you completely on the mid layer. If my jacket comes with a lining, I remove it and replace as you have. I use a light weight non-motorcyling puffa, and it has no collar, really important if you want to seal your jacket at the top without everything being too thick to seal. It also packs tightly into its own pocket. And it's cheaper than motorcycle gear. Works great off the bike. That is a good Revitt jacket, and very comprehensive review. Ride safe 👍

The suggestions for improvement you mentioned, would make it worse in my opintion. But those are the things that should be different between Echelon and Dominator. I really like that they got rid of the velcro flap over the zipper. The new pads are so much more comfortable than the old hard seeflex, the Nucleys is also worth checking out as a Mesh option, was super comfy on me Your point of view is always great, keep going!

Thanks for the review, I am also a long time rev it rider and have a lot of Rev it gear. Tested the echelon pants against the stratos, dominator and sand. What I noticed is that the trousers are a lot colder than the dominator pants. Great in the summer, not so great in the winter. What is your experience? I think it is because of the 2L construction instead of the 3L construction. I agree that with the jacket, I always wear a 'normal' wool or down jacket that I can also use without the motorcycle jacket. But with the trousers it is a diffrent story, do you wear something extra under the Echelon trousers, for me they are to cold in the winter but I do not like wearing extra insulating trousers that cannot be zipped in the motorcycle trousers.

Really good review Pavlin. The Echelon certainly looks like a nice jacket and pants set. Like you I also have the Offtrack and Dominator. The Offtrack is good if you know what the weather will be like and add the appropriate inserts but a pain taking linings in and out if you experiencing rapidly changeable weather or environments. The Dominator is a brilliant jacket and can help the worst possible weather (I rode for three days in the rain in Alaska and it worked a treat) has good venting systems but it is heavy and like you mentioned the zips in the sleeves are difficult to close as you are riding which is annoying when you experience sudden rain. I love the dominator pants, especially the zip off bib. Keep up the great work👍

I want to combine this with the Revit Avertum airbag vest but there is unfortunately not enough space for when its go off. I have had contact with Revit support and they say there are no flex spots in this jacket where the airbag can deployed. Not nice to hear for me. A few month ago I bought a Revit Poseidon 3 GTX. Down to 7-8 °C it was fine. Venting on the arms is the same but on the chest it is different. It has those VCS panels with fidlock instead of the venting zipper (which I think is better). So I will have to see how it works at higher temperatures. Unfortunately none of the pants from Revit have satisfying pocket-options (at least not for me). At the moment I use a Büse Grado that has very good and waterproof pockets but is not GoreTex but some other 2L-Lamiate. It has been waterproof for 1-2 hours of heavy rain so thats ok but venting is very poor, so I still would like to have some waterproof GoreTex pants with better venting.

Elephant in the room. The Echelon has very little abrasion protection. If you go sliding down the road, it could just rip apart and who knows if the level 2 armour will stay in place. Recommended rating for road use is minimum A but preferably AA or AAA. I have the Rukka Remo-R jacket and pants. 2 layer Gortex Laminate like this jacket but with 500 D re-inforcement in the shoulders, elbows and knees etc. It is only rated at level B, a rating only for offroad. Very comfortable and comfort or rather discomfort can impact safety. If you are uncomfortable you might not be focused on the road ahead. The Echelon only has 400D in shoulder and elbows etc. Safety is a personal choice, but to make the right choice you need the information. I accept the risks involved with my choice. Feel free to make your informed choice. Ride safe my friends 😉

The right side not, and I always felt that difference and missing layers there. Right side will be colder than left one. Left side will be wormer than right side. No, I don’t like asymmetrical designs.

Watch out about Revit and all that BS others are selling you. All textile gear should be changed at least 3yrs passing i change it evey year or two why? I used to buy Revit before also other top branda now i just gave up and found a normal gear why it gives better protection it costs 6x times less and its more usable and verstile to use and i dont😢 everytime i fall or drive thru bushes if it tears i buy ne one and go on when Revit tears i 😢 and tried to fix it now i dont anymore. Revit lasted three years every time after that it degraded in color and when that happened the materials degrade also for the 6x the price it was not economical and as this guy says i dont have to proof to anyone and anybody wearing revit made me look stupid not a better driver once i calculated everything. Since the guy maybe sponsored by Revit i know he is happy but i was not. So happy revit buying everyone.

This one from Revit is actually quite impressive. It feels like something between Klim Carlsbad and Traverse but better made and more comfortable. I found previous years dissapointing with the dirst series but Offtrack 2, Echelon and Nucleus are really nice pieces along with some boots and gloves. Steady progress where others seem a bit stagnant and also looks are nice. I'm wanting all laminated jackets to be of the 2,5l type. Less weight and put the toughness on the outside.
@chillyinalberta8 ай бұрын
Can I ask why a 2 layer gortex jacket is not proper gear? The shell design is used by Klim, Mosko, etc, the best adventure gear on the planet. What is this magical proper gear that you have found?
@johannescarlsson45598 ай бұрын
@@chillyinalberta there's 2 layers of fabric, not 2 layers of membrane. They all only have 1 layer membrane. 1 layer: membrane only (shakedry etc) 2 layer: membrane + outer fabric laminated together 2,5 layer: membrane + outer fabric laminated together + inner printed protection on the membrane 3 layer: inner fabric + membrane + outer fabric laminated together. The difference is only the protection on the membrane from wear. I think 2,5l is the best compromise and then how heavy duty membrane and fabric one uses. Like Halvarssons just use 2x fabric on the wear areas instead of going with superfabric. Membrane only like shakedry is best since they have no fabric to absorb water on the outside, but durability is a concern. Works for a rainshell but not on a full integrated suit.
