Aerostich still has the best collar, cuffs and vents in the business. I fail to see how chest vents can be effective. Touring jacket + touring bike = fairing. I do like the storm cuff though. My BMG Challenger has one and it's great.

For the size, I am basically like Brian. I looked at a large and the chest was fin but the sleeves are pretty narrow. If you where anything but a t shirt they are too tight and with a sweet under the jacket they where too tight under the arm pits. I went for the XL. So in my view they size a bit small

A few fails that I see immedietly. This is coming from a Poseidon 1 suit user with thousands of touring miles. First the pluses. I like that they focus more of touring instead of on/off road. That's what 99% of the users for this suit are using it for and the lighter/less crunchy materials will benefit the end user. I also like the forearm vents being moved to the shoulders. Forearm vents on a touring bike are almost useless and the airflow in that area is usually protected by the fairing. As long as they left the wrist closure the same as the Poseidon 1 jacket, you can just move your hand out into the breeze and get a shot of cold air up your arm and into your chest. With the vents on the shoulders hopefully that will make them more useful for a majority of bikes. That collar - really? That thing is going to get taken off the jacket the moment the purchaser takes it out of the box and it's going to get thrown in a closet where he/she will forget about it until it's time to sell/retire the jacket. Save us the fabric and the cost and don't ever put this on a jacket. An aftermarket balaclava or neck warmer is going to be better for the .01% of the time it's actually needed. And in the case of the neck warmer, it can be used off the bike when the user gets to his/her destination so it's a duel purpose item. Can't say the same about that stupid collar. The removable puffy/insulated liner. Stop including these things in the higher end jackets Rev'it! We don't need it and we don't want it. My removable liners on my Poseidon jacket and pants are still sitting at the bottom of my closet. And I commute and tour in cold weather. See my comments above about the collar. Same comments apply here. Using a fleece jacket/long underwear that can be used as a layering piece at my destination is a much greater use of my luggage space on the bike vs a single use layer that can only be used under the jacket/pants. Take a clue from Klim and save us the money. Use it to include a Level 2 back protector instead... And my final note. Not to include a level 2 back protector on your top of the line touring jacket that costs 900 freaking dollars? Are you serious? This is where the Klim latitiude has this jacket beat - at least they include a level 1 protector with their jacket for only $650. They really should make it a $700 jacket and just include a level 2 back protector.

I think the addition of the storm collar is a good idea, most of the time it is not needed and won't be there, but those times when it is needed it will be really worth it. I've been travelling for two years using the Revit Dominator jacket and pants. Would love to have that storm collar. It's a real weak point of the Dominator in proper wet weather, water getting in at the neck.

@@jaycee5101 While I agree that the collar could be a good thing for those riding bikes with zero fairings, that's not what this jacket is intended for! This jacket is aimed more at touring riders (most likely riding full fairing bikes) while the Dominator jacket is aimed more towards duel sport riders riding bikes with little or no fairings. I still stand by my comments that the storm collar will not be used by 99% of the purchasers of this jacket, and therefore makes it a bad design decision.

A Gore-Tex laminated garment is the best type of waterproofing for a hot climate because it means you do not have to wear a separate liner which will just cause you to sweat and get wet anyway. Gore-Tex itself does not help keep you any cooler, but the ability to vent directly to your body instead of through a waterproof membrane of some sort is what will be the most useful feature in such cases. - DM

Those vents are tiny. And you are saying they are bigger in this model. How small were they on previous one? I don't understand how this is advertised as an all-season jacket. Not enough ventilation for summer.

The push has been for brands to increase ventilation for their jackets, so that there is more flexibility of use. So the Poseidon 2 is a great winter jacket...that also happens to work well for summer. How does this set compare to something like the Horizon 2 or the Trench GTX jacket/pants?

The Poseidon 2 is one step up from the Trench and two steps up from the Horizon 2. The Horizon 2 uses REV'IT!'s own Hydratex waterproof membrane, which is definitely more affordable but not as breathable as Gore-Tex. The Trench steps up to a bonded 2L Gore-Tex and has a more casual/fashion-oriented style, but like the Horizon 2, it only has venting at the chest. With the Poseidon 2, you get bonded Gore-Tex with Armacor reinforcement and Superfabric at the elbows for even better abrasion resistance, a removable storm collar, rear storage pouch, chest vents, bicep vents, and back vents. The Horizon 2 and Poseidon 2 Pants are pretty similar except that the Poseidon 2 Pants have Gore-Tex instead of Hydratex and have stronger textile with Armacor like the jacket. There's nothing exactly like this in a shorter length, but there are some waterproof sport jackets with good venting. This is more of a touring cut, and the smaller ventilation means that you would be sweating pretty quickly with any spirited riding. For off-road duty I would suggest the Sand 3: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/revit-sand-3-jacket The one downfall is it does not have a waterproof shell like the Poseidon, but that also means it is more flexible for year-round use and will be good to go through all 4 seasons, depending on which liners are installed or not. A destination thermal liner is an insulated liner that comes with the jacket and is sewn and finished to be worn on its own once you get to your destination. That can be walking around town on a road trip or staying warm around camp on a camping trip. -DrewZilla
