This is my first "How To" video so please comment and rate.
Check out www.my4by.com
This video shows how to revalve Bilstein 7100 shocks. This is very similar to how you would revalve other shocks like Fox Shox, King Shocks, and FOA Shocks. If you think there are any improvments or things I forgot to mention, please let me know, Thanks!
ONLY ATTEMPT THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IS YOU HURT YOURSELF, SOMEONE ELSE, OR DAMAGE YOUR SHOCKS.

Brandon Did you have to reset the dividing piston when you did the revalve? Bilstein states that you need to reset the dividing piston What are your thoughts?

great video. where did you get parts for the shock?
@BrandonNapier
@BrandonNapier 7 жыл бұрын
repairvehicle pretty sure I got them directly from Bilstine. go to their website. they have a list of all the different valve stacks.

Brandon Napier , thank you for reply. did you have to add nitrogen to your shocks?
@BrandonNapier
@BrandonNapier 7 жыл бұрын
repairvehicle yes, you do have to recharge the shocks when done. I went to a local sandrail shop, they did it for $10. a 4x4 shop could do it also.

If u don't remove any oil then u don't have to do much. When u put the piston/valve stack back in, the oil level should almost over flow. If it doesn't, then u need insert the valves deeper so the oil level will almost over flow, then u can close it back up. The whole idea is that u don't want to have any air in the system, if u have to move the piston some, then do, otherwise dont

Any tips on getting the cap to drop to access the clip. Mine wont drop enough to allow pressure off the clip
@BrandonNapier
@BrandonNapier 7 жыл бұрын
Joe S make sure you let all the pressure out of the shock from the Schrader valve. you could also try adding some oil and let it soak for a little.

How did this 7100 live before it needed revalveing? Was it on some 2-3+ ton offroad car?
@BrandonNapier

Madis H , it was on a 2 seat VW sand rail. Probably weighed around 1500 lbs

So this won't mess with the gas pressurized part at all? The piston band is worn out on my Bilstein's and I'm thinking about taking it apart for a replacement, but I don't want to have to recharge the gas chamber.
@BrandonNapier
@BrandonNapier 2 жыл бұрын
you have to evacuate all the high pressure gas and then get them recharged afterwards. so long as you don't move the piston in the remote reservoir, you will just need to fill them up and re-pressurize them.
@busterscrugs
@busterscrugs 2 жыл бұрын
@@BrandonNapier I don't have remote reservoirs, so I'm assuming the independent floating piston would shoot out if I were to remove the piston/rod assembly?

@@busterscrugs if you depressurize everything it should not "shoot out"

How do you repressurize the shock?
@BrandonNapier
@BrandonNapier Жыл бұрын
You will have to take it to an offroad shop to have them refill the shock with high pressure nitrogen. You can buy all the stuff yourself, but it will cost you a few hundred bucks.

Brandon Napier--Did you really have to go through all that to revalve-re-oil-re-gas a Bilstein shock tube for a 1500 lb two-seater VW Sand Rail? Is Bilstein really that bad quality? I thought the Bilstein mono tube was forever a top of the line shock over Monroe's double tube. Now after watching your video tutorial I know the answer to which brand sucks and which I am going to install in my SUV. Thank you for helping me decide!

Roddy G For an SUV, bilstine has probably already figured out what the correct valve stack would be. For my little sand rail I just had to go online and pick a valve stack I thought would work, and it turned out that I wanted it to be a little bit different after I got the shocks installed. This is going to be the same for all the high end revalvable shocks, like Fox or King.
