Polygon Hive is merging ALS with the new Motion Matching , using the layers from ALSV and the movement of Motion Matching. Theres a few other youtubers doing something similar.. im kind of in the same boat as you with animations , having to basically squash my original project for newer ideas and tech.

Bro you should switch to the new Motion Matching system released with UE 5.4 and ditch ALS altogether. The creator of ALS was hired by Unreal and their team came together to create what can be considered an evolution to ALS, compatible with the latest Unreal version, unlike ALS, which has been a pain in the ass for me personally 😅

What is that thing that can be considered an evolution to ALS? Do you mean the Motion Matching demo? If so, no way. Motion Matching is a no-no for solo developers and small scale studios.

@@echorises bruh, just because you find it too complex to comprehend doesn't mean it's actually useless. It's a very complex system that demands a fair amount of dedication sure, but it is most definitely usable for indie devs. I've been having a good time with it personally, but i'm still learning the ropes.

@@anujpartihar Wut? Get off your high horses man. The system is not complex at all, it's actually really straightforward, especially if you have background in programming that is not game development. The real challenge comes from the required amount of animations to produce good results. Without a mocap studio, this is very hard to attain. Also, it is very early access right now. Try to put 20 NPCs in a scene, all using Motion Matching, and you'll what I am talking about. There is a reason why only major companies such as Naughty Dog use motion matching.
