That looks exactly like the national highway roads all around O.R. Tambo airport in Johannesburg. You know, the roads which greet international travellers when they first step foot in our country, because our corrupt and useless government is just like that.

Hi man, Could you please make a landing tutorial? i couldn´t find any at youtube. I created this awesome flying ship, it moves forward by pressing up button, but when it stops moving and i want it to land...failure, i cant make it work... i tried with snap to grid but it never finds the right floor position, and since flying rotation can be kind of "out of a normal position" i tried fix it first with "setactorrotation" but it keeps rotating to a weird position, not to were im loking and it snaps... i cant smooth ´this movement. What i would like is: even if i´m fliying and my Y positin its super high, when i press L button i want my ship to stabilize rotation and starts landing down with a vertical move to the ground until it touches the floor.

Nice. Are you guys using photoshop for this or your own program ? And does it auto create normal map, displacement map after mixing textures ?
@teddybergsman53586 жыл бұрын
This is our own standalone program :) No dependencies on other applications. You have access to the entire Megascans library straight inside Mixer, so all the source materials you use when mixing come with scanned displacements, albedo, roughness, specular, opacity, occlusion and so on. And when you use your own custom materials, or paint things by hand, correct, it auto creates tileable normal maps, displacement maps and a few other things when mixing :)

why would i break up the tiling this way if i can do this in engine and save texture space by alot, really lot. with this technic i would have to make at least 3-4 different road parts to not make them repeat too often and every time saving the complete texture out while in engine i can just re-use decals etc. do i get something terribly wrong in the workflow ? besides: when is 0.969 being released ? would love to add decals to my textures.
@teddybergsman53586 жыл бұрын
Great question! Sometimes it's preferable to bake as much as possible down to a single material to significantly reduce draw calls for better performance. In this case for instance, I would also use objects such as 3D rubble and trash to break up the street. The approach you suggest is equally valid, and we do our best to cover it in this tutorial: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nme4dGubYq57iNE

It'd be fascinating if we got to a stage where the dips in the road became 3D instead of textures, so when you walked over a pothole your ingame character went down with it. Or would generating that level of polys be too demanding for current hardware?
