But I love him desperately and, like you am doing everything possible to ease his problems. It's the tragedy of loving a dog that they will someday die. It's the way of life. I got a male Shih Tzu puppy a couple of months ago after having to put my 13 year old teacup Yorkie to sleep in February. I swore I'd never get another dog because of how painful it was, but yet here I am. It's hard to live without the pure love of a dog. 🐕

Oh my heart aches for you Nicolas regards Your concerns for darling Sophie ‘s health I relate so much because of the sudden demise Of my French miniature Bulldog At age 9 yrs he went into decline , He had taken to going under my dinning table And it occurred to me he was frightened to be Stepped on , due to loss of sight my kind brother took my Tanki To the Vet , sadly he brought his remains to me In a box , my brother owns land with a riverbank And a small forest of Sumac Tree’s So that was my chosen spot to have my sweet furbaby Laid to rest. brother got an old house slate tile And drilled[ Tanki , ] 😢his name which was placed as a marker For his resting place. My brother’s home is in Ontario Whereby I live I. Vancouver BC Is my joy when on visits to family To go up the steep hill to the Forest of the Sumac tree’s and visit my little soul companion Now resting in Peace. The dining room is so elegant. Love the colors! It’s wise to find a trusted person to sit with any dog, especially an older one (if possible), when we are away. Being in their own home is calming for animals, even if we aren’t there. Dogs learn that you go, and you always come back. Not everyone can get a trusted dog sitter, but it’s great if you can.

I lost my dog a couple years ago and I still think I hear his collar jingling around the house. It won’t be easy when you lose Sophie but it’s that circle of life that we all belong to. I’m glad you’re doing painting again because staying busy does help alot with the worries in life. Of course you don’t have to try Nicolas because you don’t stop with the hundred things you juggle daily, but something like your painting fills those quiet moments in a very healthy and relaxing way. ❤️❤️

As a long time dog owner I would give you this advice: dogs do better in pairs or even small "packs." We have two older dogs and added a puppy a couple of years ago. It was such a wonderful addition to our lives. Our older dogs took on a mothering role while also acting much younger and energetic themselves. It made such a difference in their energy and vitality! I will never have just a single dog again. They're made to be pack animals and doing so brings out all the delightful nuances of canine behavior. Best wishes to you and Sophie. ​@@NicolasFairford

Thank you Nicolas! The dining room is charming.I particularly like the wall color. I'm glad Sophie is feeling much better. My cat is 20 years old this year and on the arthritis injections. What a difference. She is jumping all over the place and much more active not to mention talking all the time. if anyone is hesitating about the injections please don't. I know my cat feels much better. However they are expensive so be prepared for that. She s also on a special diet so she has become quite the diva!

Nicolas, I also have a senior dog I rescued when he was one year old!! He is a small one like Sophie. His name is Cody. Glad to hear that she is doing better. They are sent from God to give us unconditional love, and so much joy to be with. Did you know that Dog spelled backwards is God!! No offense if you are not a Christian. I’ve only had one dog - a peekapoo - who was diagnosed at 4 years with Addison’s Disease. He needed an expensive shot every month plus other meds. He was with us for 14.4 years - a real joy - and it’s been an exceedingly difficult 5 months but also the vet told us that dogs with Addison’s usually don’t make it to 14 years. We found his issues compounded near the end and he (usually loved life) just didn’t seem so happy anymore. Enjoy every minute with your sweetheart. We made a photo collage commemorating his life and while I’m still tender about losing him, I’m very happy I have the remembrances. You will have that too! Here’s hoping for more years with your baby

I like the dining room much more than I thought. Poor little Sophie😢. Our Sugar started the same way, but she had Congestive Heart Failure. She was almost 15 when she passed, and we were devastated, although she had a puppy spirit until the end. It was our honor and privilege to have had her in our lives for so long and we enjoyed caring for her as you do Sophie. Sending healing energy and prayers for Sophie. 🐾🙏. My sister’s dog had some coughing episodes and it turned out to be his heart. He’s an older rescue but doing fine with medication. Every so often the coughing returns and the Vet adjusts the meds for her dog. The coughing may very well be related to her heart function. It’s worth a “look and see”. It’s good to hear she is doing better. The dining room looks wonderful. Looking forward to your Chateau project updates as well. 🤩

May I suggest hanging drapes to frame the window to give the room a more finished look? I am anxious to see your completed full length portrait. Oh Nicolas my dog is 14 and a half yrs old and he’s my first dog too so your concerns resonate with me. His back legs are going so he walks very slowly but he really enjoys his food that I cook for him. We’ve had a few worrying episodes with him which really churns me up inside but we got through them. Hi Nicholas! I truly love the new color of your dining room wall! It's so elegant! I love the credenza against it with the flowers, and to paint the molding and skirts a straw color will make it pop! I can't wait to see the portrait too! I'm glad little Sophie is getting better. You are right to keep her on her schedule especially since she has been on medication.
