Just an fyi/emphasis on what is said early in the video- tracing is ABSOLUTELY training wheels for art and is a learning tool. Tools can be abused/taken advantage of but things like tracing and referencing have been used in art for centuries and is absolutely just a tool for learning.

I know the idea of changing things and taking a risk is stressful, and I know when you have other people like friends and family depending on you it can only make it harder but don’t give up! It will just take some smart planning and a lot of effort. As you have discovered the crossover audience for Hearthstone and FPSs is pretty narrow and you want to make sure your audiences are catered to. I don’t know what your background is in business or marketing, but here are some suggestions I recommend to try and get both channels growing and in a good sustainable spot. Sorry in advance for the caps lock and length. TIPS FOR NEW CHANNEL MAKE SURE TO LINK YOUR CHANNEL IN THE OUTRO: Some people will skip intros especially if it’s labelled an ad and it’s important to get as many of your hearthstone subscribers over to that new channel as possible. The more you mention it and link it the better. PARTNER WITH HEARTHSTONE KZbinRS TO GET THE MESSAGE OUT THERE: even though you do have followers the new channel is still new and entering a sea of competition. Try to guest star in some videos of other hearthstone creators you’re friends with to let people know about your new focused channel. ASK PEOPLE TO SUBSCRIBE ROUTINELY: I know it seems cheap, but every once in a while asking people to subscribe if they want to see more of your content can help increase video interaction. Don’t need to make it a regular thing in your videos but just every once in a while. NEVER STOP PROMOTING ON SOCIAL MEDIA: you never know when one of your videos is going to explode, but putting it where lots of people can see it is a good start. Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Discord. Post it anywhere you think people might find it interesting. PARTICIPATE IN HEARTHSTONE EVENTS: people watching hearthstone are a good place to find people who like hearthstone. That doesn’t mean you’ll need to compete, but doing announcing for some of the smaller events or just making videos about the events is a good way to grab people’s attention. TIPS FOR THIS CHANNEL CHASE THE ALGORYTHM: Your channel has a subscriber count, but it needs more interaction. The best way to get that is to create videos that are relevent currently. Part of that is getting lucky, but part of it is also publishing videos for things that people are looking up. The upcoming monster hunter when it is released is a good example of something that if you made a video of probably would get some attention. LOOK BACK ON YOUR BEST VIDEOS: learning from past successes is a solid way to ensure future successes. Has your editting changed? Did you use to put more memes in your videos? Go back to some of your most viewed videos and really study them. Look at the comments and see what resonated with people. DEVELOP A ROUTINE: Television producer learned almost a century ago that if they can get people watching their content on a schedule it didn’t really matter what they were showing. The same holds true for youtubers. Get into a schedule of releasing and you’ll see more consistent viewership. People like to be able to look at the calendar and have something to look forward to. GENERAL ADVICE KEEP UP YOUR SPIRITS: what you’re doing is no easy task, but don’t be too hard on yourself. This is an imperfect science to say the least. Just because you aren’t finding success in the moment doesn’t mean you’re not making good content or not good enough. REMEMBER TO FIND THINGS IN YOUR LIFE YOU ENJOY OUTSIDE OF WORK: playing videogames is your job and lteddy is your business and sometimes we hate our jobs. Much like any other job your job is not you. Find things to do like hanging out with your friends or cat that are completely detached from work. Things that are just for you so you know you’ve done a good job. Reward yourself sometimes.
