Long time watcher. One of the things that I appreciate about you two is how nice you are to people. Also how impressed people are with you when they look at all the cars you have changed or fixed. That lady had no idea who you were but she saw a great talent in your cars. You could not have planned that one. Nothing but positive about you guys. Enjoy you trip.

Hudson made a very powerful race wining flathead straight eight twin carb engine in c.1951. An easy fit and all the power and torque you would need. Worth a look and a little research.

Definitely recommend retrofitting a 1946 Hudson Hornet engine with the dual carburetors. Chad loves multiple carb engines and it could be tweaked to 200 hp. Back to the seller to see about getting the original engine to have on hand if Chad wants to resell as a matching number Hudson pickup.

Great to see any Hudson. My 2 door 1939 Hudson Country Club Six 93 Convertible Coupe must be fairly rare too. First year they put the headlights into the wings. As I said on the live stream. My dad got the chromework all re-done by Harland And Wolff Shipyard back in the 1970s and it's been sitting in the attic ever since. Last time I drove it was about 1979. It fair ripped along too. Probably never get back at it.

There were 6 of them Imported into ireland that year. I met the guy about 40 years later. I couldn't believe the same dealership was there. He couldn't believe the car was still here. They were all brought in grey and then painted to customer spec. Mine is Garda Blue ( Garda is Irish for police) It's also original right hand drive

Meant to say. As it was the outbreak of WW2 and fuel was hard to get. The car was run on paraffin, whiskey, turps or anything that would burn. The fuel tank rusted to bits so did the exhaust. Valves used to stick but i could take a plug out and hammer them down while it was running. When they freed up just screw the plug in and she would kick in another cylinder. It was stored in a barn that fell in on it. That is how I got it in 68 when I was ten. My dad towed me home in it so I am the second owner. The 1st owner was a famous architect who barely ever drove.

This is one of the best looking pickups I've seen. I didn't even know Hudson made a truck. I love the design of the front, the way the grill turns in like a mouth. Please do something with the rear bumper. I wonder if that was the original one since the rest of the truck is so beautifully designed I can't believe what is on there now would have come from the factory.

Spend the bucks! Rebuild the Hudson engine! Keep it rare and original. It fits, it mates to the original transmission, you won’t have to modify the drive train, wiring, accelerator linkage, radiator etc. Change the engine and the value goes down.

Chad & Jolene the more I think about it I would take Rick up on his offer to get the original motor back just to have the correct numbered engine just to keep around in case at some point you decided to sell it. It would make a big difference to a collector in value unless the engine he dropped in it is also numbered correctly which I don't believe it is since Rick made the offer to you guys to swap engines to have the original for the value. As far as what engine I would put in it being a GM guy I would probably put a 6.0 or a 6.2 in it they are pretty much trouble free the 6.0 came in later model trucks and the 6.2 came in the 2010 and up Camaro SS and both have alot of power and are pretty easy to come by. I believe if you had the original engine to go with it on the side that in the US it would probably sell for $35K-$40K US! Have fun in Australia I am looking forward to those videos!

Love the old winter tread tyres on the back of the Hudson ute. They bring back childhood memories of my father's Land Rovers.
Keeping this gorgeous rare gem as original as possible will enhance its value in my opinion. Among all that you have, a true original beauty among your stable will stand out and retain its value. An engine change would imply a lot of chassis and drive line alterations, at significant cost while compromising originality, and to what end. Well no use in my prattling on, its yours to do what you please with it. Just my two cents worth on the matter, but you might better use your talents to resurrect a relic that just screams for attention.

Your new friend Rick the seller said if you put a V8 in the Hudson, make it a Ford small block. He said he had everything for that swap an overdrive transmission, drive shaft, rear end and highway gears. The 348 W Chev engine would be cool but it should be as light as possible seeing the suspension is of ancient design. Will the brakes handle up graded motor? It will be fun watching what you do with this 47 Hudson.
