Finally people are starting to dive deeper to the science of the ratchet part

The middle piece that doesn't really contact is typically the most simple part of the bey tbh. It's seems pretty cut and dry on the surface, it's the part that does the least, but that doesn't really make it the least important.

@bladekidWBO 22 күн бұрын
@ibitejawbreakers61 oh that's coming! I already have some of the info for it written down. Here's my thoughts on the first 2 I'll be covering if you want: 9: high burst resistance, good LAD, minimal shape. Great for adding a kick of extra burst resistance to a combo, or as a basic filler ratchet that's good on whatever. The downside to 9 is it lacks the extra shape to give it weight distribution synergies with the blade. Sure, 3 sided things line up, but it tends to use this more as a mask to blend in with the blade and less to add synergistic weight to the points. Overall, pretty good ratchet in almost any situation, and has a strong niche in its own right, but sacrifices weight in the process. Arguably the best ratchet, and work on pretty much everything! 3: 3 sided is the definitive ratchet for beys with 3 sided blades! Lines up well with pretty much everything 3 sided, and lines up differently based on orientation, giving unique customization. This gives it the best stamina with 3 sided blades, but just in general, it has a stamina advantage over other ratchets in most situations. It's shape is even and round enough to be good generally as well, making it another good all rounder style Ratchet. Less burst resistance than 9, but good burst resistance in the grand scheme of things. Overall, another very solid ratchet, a good general shape and with some good shape synergies too. Ideal for attack and stamina, but the lack of any specialty traits leave it as less suitable for some specialized builds, similar to 9. One of the best ratchets also, maybe not as generally applicable as 9, but has more specialization on 3 sides blades to compensate and doesn't sacrifice weight for its versatility. 9 is versatile cuz it has a nothing shape, 3 is versatile cuz it has a good shape.

Ratchets add to total weight and impacts the distribution of mass around the circumference (close vs far from the axis, and towards one side or another).
@bladekidWBO
@bladekidWBO 2 ай бұрын
That's absolutely facts! You can make really change a bey's weight distribution and how it functions with a rachet change! It's especially good when your points line up! 4 is kinda a sleeper pick in some situations cuz of it. The sides are blocky, but they do actually provide a decent level of synergy with anything 2 sided! HS is a good example of it, as it tends to have more stamina on 4 than other rachets! It's awesome to hear stuff like this. Thanks!

@bladekidWBO
@bladekidWBO 2 ай бұрын
@nuc here's how I'll break this down: If you're trying to say what attributes could potentially come together and make a good rachet, I'd say what you said was accurate enough. Short and round makes sense, short in most cases is ideal, and roundness never hurt anyone. However, if we look at the bigger picture, this falls off hard. 9 is very good, but it has its flaws. It's light and has lower stamina than some, and while it's lack of real contact points makes is great for not bursting, it also means you lose out on all the specialization you get with other ratchets 9 as far as things goes is potentially the best, yet that's just not how ratchets work imo. It really depends on the bey at the smallest level. In conclusion, while the short and round 9-60 is a very good example of a *good* rachet with a lot of notable attributes, it fails to see the point behind ratchets. The point isn't to find what the best one is and use it, it's to take the ratchet attributes and use that to choose which ones are gonna be most helpful, along with lining up shapes and balance tuning. People treat them like Disks in burst, they'd just kinda find the best one and use that mainly, and it was never fully ideal there either.

@@bladekidWBOGotya. My statement was a “run and gun” street interview style where I didn’t have to talk about distinct specialization. At 17:44 you say “1-80 is good for attack” but the on screen correction changed that to 1-60. This was my exact point on heights. 1-60 is better, generally, than 1-80 because of the height. Round ratchets like 9-60 and 3-60 are better than 9-80 and 3-80. 3-60 is better on average than 4-60 because of the better burst resistance. Specialization goes on top of those principles. Also, I will saw while the intro is funny and obviously a joke, it takes what I said out of context and is a little confusing why you presented it this way. I even said “that’s a hot take, some people may disagree with that” but that was cut. It makes my statement look wrong or incomplete when really it was a base level explanation of ratchets for a causal BEYBLADE video by JettKuso. The casual/new fan doesn’t need a long explanation on how certain points lining up with certain blades because it really doesn’t matter to them (yet, if they like beyblade then they’ll go and watch videos like this one that further explains it.)
@nizumablader
@nizumablader 2 ай бұрын
Why did you clip Illinuc like he was factually wrong when short and round literally described the best ratchet in the game. There’s a reason 9-60 is docked a point in stage one by takara tomy. If people could run 3 9-60s they probably would. Weight factors in a little but most ratchets outside of 7-60 have marginal weight difference within their height category, balance is a factor but against 9-60 is the most balanced bit in the game as well.
@bladekidWBO
@bladekidWBO 2 ай бұрын
@nuc I think that's fair generally. Saying "60 is the best and youre throwing if not" is kinda not that hot of a take actually, that's why I used this clip in particular. What you said looks good surface level, I even took the time to play your side of things, and said that it made sense, just that we could go deeper. Less wrong and more just a narrow view, and it's why I wanted to expand on it. I do think it's still a bit misleading and incorrect to day rounder is better tho, as that isn't really true in most cases. Attack almost wants those multiple points, and even for newer players it's something to note. The 1-60 that was corrected even proudly displays this gimmick off (which tbh, i was going to use that rachet to split into height differences, because 1 is the rachet that changes use with height the most imo). For me, acknowledging the hindsight aspect, I would probably say something like: "Most rachet shapes work for different stuff, but generally the ones that are rounder like 9, 3, and 5 are the best" And I wouldn't have made the meme so hard if you acknowledged 3 also being a good rachet, but that was your main example of a rachet that wasn't good compared to the rounder one. Even despite the fact the rachet you used (9-70) is taller than the one you said wasn't good (3-60) and I do see your point. It was less about height and more about the sides, still a bit jarring. I can understand the goofy interview aspect, and thats why i kinda took the funny like i did. It did say "let's give the professionals a chance to chime in" right before the interview, but I know you didn't have any part in that, so it ain't your b. Overall, the main point was to take a very common view I see a lot about a part that isn't super explored, and I wanted to figure out what really was going on under the covers. People really think even in the competitive space that short and round is king, but they also know people say things like 1 and 7 are good for things too. Bridging that understanding gap was the main goal, and I do apologize I had to make you a bit of a meme at the beginning. I hope you can understand it's all just a goof and anyone who's opinion matters on you isn't getting that opinions from me I hope. You did get me into collecting New In Box beyblades from your "I FOUND THE MOTHERLOAD" video, so I hope you can accept my apology (not like I probably won't slip something in the newest video haha).

@nizumablader if he's trying to describe a good rachet, as in, a rachet that is good, short and round makes sense. But that's not exactly what makes a rachet good, As in, short and roundness isn't really what makes a rachet good. Or is it "what rachets do" as the question implied. I even explained his side later to give a more thought through explanation of the short and round opinion that I see so much. 9-60 is one of the best rachets (9-70 too, the extra height can help for sure), but I actually think that's less of the point. The point is that yes, there are a lot of people who just think this is what rachets are. This video was to see the whole picture on rachets and give a fuller understanding on the general idea of shape/weight synergy. I'll say I took the piss a bit, but it's a video that I feel makes memes all the time, I saw a goofy skit I could talk about and made it goofy. I covered why he was kinds right (I even said "the science checks out" and despite the follow up, that wasn't to debunk it, that was to elaborate on it. Idk tho, I might just be a 9-60 hater lol, I barely use it, and that might just be me having the hot take, but I've seen enough to know I usually want to specialize more. Shark and Rod are the main things I'd want it on, and even then, 3 gives more stamina, 5 and 7 give more weight, 1 and 7 give more attack and a balance change. 9 is good for burst resistance and general usability, but yeh, I personally just feel it slots in nicely with the other options pretty interchangeably, with 9 being the "burst resistance" and "safe" rachet, like knuckle from burst classic.

Still trying to make the 2-60 work in a combo. Since both ends are prominent, they can, in some cases, reduce the number of points you'd lose because, like the 1-60, the 2-60 can also perform a reversal. Additionally, they might scrape the arena, and with a hexa bit, in exchange for some stamina, the bey can regain stability or even get a bit more life after death by kicking itself up. Lastly, there are two large contact points that distribute the weight evenly between two opposite ends. The problem is I still haven't found a blade that pairs well... any suggestions? Perhaps you have the knowledge necessary to make 2-60 work. Excellent video, by the way. Very informative, and I'm loving your content.

@felipegomesdeoliveira5987 hmm... 2-60 is a tough one... it's shape has merit for sure, only issue is that it has a bursting problem. And trust me when I say "a lot", as I'm they guy who thinks 4 is usable. It was neat on buster to add more weight behind contacts, and it worked pretty well. Issue is it burst way more. My best advice is to pair it with 2 or 4 sided blades. Maybe a TyrannoBeat, for example, could be good to use the 2 sided shape to its advantage, but you still have to deal with the increased vulnerable. The scraping and restabilization on Hexa is really neat! I definitely need to test it a bit more, but so far it's burst risk seems a bit too high for me

I saw a beyblade youtuber make 2-60 work with gale wyvern Its blade conveniently cover the contact points of 2-60. Combine that with the low height of the 60 disk as well, you end up creating the base for a nasty stamina combo

Honestly the increase in burst rate is probably too much. I have a 7-60 that I swapped the internals for 80 so it’d be easier to be hit and wear down. Literally pitted Whale wave 7-80 FB against Optimus Primal 4-60 LF/U(round Taper mold not the round Point mold) until that 1 face that juts out a lot on the 7-80 was so banged up and rounded out I’m not even sure it’d be legal anymore. And the thing I noticed was that during the wearing sessions Primal was bursting about as often as the 80 height on a FB. Which is really bad considering it was a 60 ratchet on a thick shaft facing up against an 80 height on a thin shaft.
@bladekidWBO
@bladekidWBO Ай бұрын
@JohnSmith-bp9ik yeah, it's hard to say if 4 is worth it on Shark, but there are some arguments to be made. Better weight distribution, shape synergy, and low opportunity cost makes 4 kinda a sleeper ratchet. Of course, the higher burst risk is very considerable, even though the extra bit resistance on the attack bit helps mitigate this somewhat. Hard to say, its hard to say if its worth it or not, especially since people are allergic to extra burst risk due to the unfunness of RNG. 80 heights tend to cause more ratchet contact, which can lead to bursting more frequently, and 7 has a pretty bursty design, so this makes sense that it's also bursting like a 60 height 4.

@曉p-p7t the custom set has a lot of cool things that are good starting out! Tyranno beat is already very good, and the bits you get are good too! Silver wolf and wizzard rod are also good pickups, Phoenix Wing is very good, and if you're in the states, shark edge is a super cheap bey with a lot of use! As far as ratchets go, yeh, they're kinda hard to explain. My best advice is to see what lines up shape wise with your stuff and what gives it the most advantages in height. Typically attack wants low all the time, stamina usually wants 60 or 70, and all 3 heights are good for defense depending on what you're doing, but all are best put low on average. 3 and 5 are your standars ones, 3 being the main one, as it's even, and not too blocky, but has concentrated points of weight none the less, 5 similar but a bit more blocky and heavier. 4 is really blocky but really good on 2 sided design when it comes to weight distribution 9 is good for burst resistance 7 has high weight for defense and attack, but a bit higher burst risk and slight imbalance 1 has large imbalance for attack and sometimes defense 2 is literally a meme, complete garbage

The first obvious upgrade seems to be getting 9-60 ratchet for the ptera swing. Ratchet comes from ux10 doesn't seem okay for stamina build.Might buy phoenix wing just for that ratchet. Ptera swing 9-60B. Tyranno beat, I'm gonna find more info. But probably just slapping 1-60 or 7-70 that comes with ux10 set. Bit might try rubber accel, or rush if RA is bad. Tyranno beat 1-60RA. Knight mail probably stick with stock combo, new bit bound spike. Knight mail 3-85BS.

I personally think it works as an attacker. Not a lot of people just have enough time to sit through 18 mins. Overall you make good points with the ratchets that I think people dont give enough attention to. ilinnuc isnt wrong in that short and round is typically better but I think he coudlve worded it better in that other ratchets can have good synergy with your combo too just depending on what it is and your preference. Just an example here but i threw a ball on horn, which is more of a square shape, and a 3-60 ratchet and it spun for 1:40 but switching it to a 4-60 gave it an extra 15 secs in spin time. Does it increase burst risk because of the addition nub and shape? Yes but thats your pros and cons to choose from at the end of the day and thats what makes this game so fun is the customization of it all and making something personal that works for you.

PW.7-60 H is a pretty decent defense bey and is gonna help you against some attackers. Ww isn't bad either, the 9 helps make up for the issue of it having a gap, and rush takes advantage of whale's early game longevity and smooth movement, plus it adds some aggression into the deck for a chance at a KO or burst. CD is the safe pick of the deck, it's most likely going to beat anything you face it again besides a really keen attacker, L Drago, or some very specific counter. You get a bit of aggression to help with KOs, but your mainly just gonna use this as either a safe scout, or a safe cleanup tool. It's a unique way to reach a 3 type deck, but it's solid for sure!

Physical engagement When you have to exert force and effort to participate in an action, even one where you aren't technically active at all times, you feel like you have some stake in it. Along with that, you have enough control with satisfying feedback that doing things generally feels good to do. 2. Risk/prediction There's an inherent level of either prediction or risk involved with the game. You're using a beyblade because you think either it's gonna win, or you're going to win with it. Again, it's adding stakes and that keeps your brain invested. The risk part leads to highs and lows, sometimes you'll get an insane X finish and sometimes you get walled out, but regardless, it makes you feel something. 3. Uncertainty and wanting to fill the void Wow, the sounded darker than it needed to haha! What I mean is when an action is happening, and you know there will be an uncertain outcome, your brain wants to know what happens. It goes back to that prediction/risk, and if it doesn't, you'll be curious to learn as it's new information. 4. Metal chunk go brrr It's cool to see fast things hit each other hard. That's it, it's just fun to watch. There's deeper stuff obviously, but thats like, the caveman reason we like beyblade haha! Not to even mention things like hype, asthetic designs, and customizations.
