I can’t talk to a priest since my youngest son age 54 died of suicide. My parish priest had no empathy for me or him at all. A funeral my way was out of the question. My church abandoned me .i stopped going to church . I didn’t give up on my God but I won’t go back to my Catholic Church. I still have not buried my sons ashes . When I do can I do it how do I ask a caring priest or religious to be with me. It’s been three yrs

@@loiserschens4017 I am so sorry for the loss of your son. That had to be horrific and the most painful time. Not to have a sympathetic priest to help you through this time must have been so terribly hurtful. There are bad priest that unfortunately cause people to leave the church. They will have to answer to God. I am glad you did not turn against God. Sometimes God leaves us with no one but Him. I don’t know why but my first thought is that He wanted you to know to focus on Him because your son is safe in His arms with Him. Perhaps reach out to another Catholic parish/priest. Maybe a friend knows a priest who will assist you w/burying the ashes. Stay strong my friend and never give up on God. I know know it seems like eternity but the time will come when you will see your sweet son again.

I have been a priest for 40 years. The fact that I have lasted 40 years its proof God has a wonderful sense of humor.I have two full parishes. I love my priesthood but have a total distaste for administration. I would love to hear his take when he is a pastor of a parish in the middle of no wheres where there is no money, no help , and tons of problems. I have struggled a lot, I have fallen a lot, and I have been forgiven a lot . The look of his parish it is not one of those that is overwhelming. The danger is messiah complex. There is no such thing as a bad priest. Just a priest whose people do not pray for him. Thank God he has such support. A priest must feel that his support is more merciful and supportive than the Taliban

There is a different point of view on priests wearing clerical collar in public: my former pastor is proponent of wearing clerical collar at all times in public because of his experience with people asking him for confession on the street and even in restaurant. A young Dominican priest I know wore his habit while traveling and many times at the airport curious young men would come to inquire . May be because I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada, eh? One day I was volunteering in our parish office. My pastor came in, on his day off in blue jeans, a polo shirt with our parish logo and a ball cap. As he walked in he immediately, humbly, apologized and his body language indicated to me it was for his appearance. I immediately said you should get a day off once in awhile and he thanked me. I love, love the clerics especially the cassock. It makes me conscience of my soul. But seriously everyone should have some time off. Miss my pastor so much. in addition: the real test is when you are in a parish that you have so much need and so few people to assist. It is a place that you have no clue of how to pay the bills. This is where trust and prayer is most important. It sounds like he has staff and volunteers. I have been in situations where I am the staff, maintenance, DRE, choir, etc lol...I came close to loosing my vocation. God has seen me through. A priest must learn to overcome his duplicities and forgive himself as God who lovingly forgives. Burnout, breakdown, etc is always around. I don't regret a day. I would do it all over again. One day at a time. The serenity prayer says it all.

Managing your personal needs is important. Many of the Saints OVERDID it, giving too much, & suffered greatly. St. John Vianney comes to mind. He tried to take a vacation once & his parishioners stole his breviary & refused to allow him to leave. He would go for DAYS without food & then in desperation knock on someone's door to feed him. I used to be a community organizer in Brooklyn & a minister after work, in my apt, for the neighborhood children. And after a few years of this {I was 29} - I was so burned out I looked 50 & my daughter said, "If you don't quit, you'll die." So I did quit & I went every evening to play basketball where the kids could no longer find me. They thought I had moved, but I had to do that to save myself.

Catholic Talk Show, this may be a good pivot point for you guys to talk about defending our good and holy priests like Fr. James Altman or Fr. Timothy Rothrock. We have to defend our shepherds who speak the truth!

I am celibate because I’m divorced twice. I was struggling with the typical needs that humans have. I asked The Lord to take those urges away and He did. I have no issues and I can focus on Him.

My brother was a priest. Was because he died two years ago. I pray earnestly for him. I thought priest has a lot of money, but after his death I realized he had nothing for us to inherit😂😂😂, but payables because we did not exclude him from financial obligations when our parents got sick and eventually died. He was imperfect, who needed prayers and humility. We support him with our prayers, our parents, I strongly believe to be his strongest prayer warriors. I pray for all priests all over the world.

I always see father Bob at Publix but he is not in his priest uniform. I never know if I should say hello father or just hello. I feel like it’s his time he is shopping and I just smile at him.

After me trying to gather women together to petition for women to be ordained - I had called dozens of convents but no takers, I was discouraged. And I prayed to Jesus, "Maybe you DON'T want women to be ordained. Give me a sign if you do or not." The next day I went to 8am Mass as usual, I was the only one there. A new priest, much younger than our two usual guys, is celebrating. Never seen him before. At Holy Communion time I go up to the rail & kneel & wait, looking down. Waiting, waiting. I look up. The Priest CALLS ME to come up to the altar, behind it, & gives me the Eucharist, & then the Blood of Christ. I am overwhelmed, & as I leave I'm walking on air. And only when I go outside it suddenly dawns on me, THAT WAS JESUS & HE CALLED ME TO THE PRIESTHOOD, BEHIND THE ALTAR! I have goose bumps as I recall this.

Father Pagano is a lovely down to earth man and Priest. If we only new the background of these great individuals. Priests and Nuns are not made in factories they are normal people from all areas of life. I know recently a couple of late vocations to the Cloth. A Nun who was a married lady and then a Widow now a Nun and a Priest who was an IT Consultant and became a Priest in his 40's, a Priest who a Funeral Director and went to the English College in Rome in his 40's after a call to Priesthood. Please look up Sister Clare Crockett from Northern Ireland who was an aspiring Actress turned Nun. Her story is on KZbin, such an its inspiring story, she is up for possible beatification. She died as a Selfless act of her dedication to her vocation
