***** Halo 5 had a beta, that had general issues and was released a year before release. Battlefront is a Code Release Demo, which is usually released a few weeks before going Gold for reviews and still may have some issues to fix, but nothing that can't be done in the Crunch Time between the demo was released and when the game goes gold.

***** No... Code Release is the time space between the Beta and Release, where the game is working enough to be released to the public, which it was. A Beta would be unacceptable as a full release, but can be fully understandable as a Beta. Even after the Code Release, there is the Gold Master, which still has development and small fixes going on. Battlefront was not a Beta, end of. There was no plan to change the game for balancing issues. The only problem people mainly saw was glitching with dead players.

It isn't even that generic. The guns feel very different and first person shooters don't have abilities and heroes running around the map also the vehicles in this game are different to. Saying it is a generic fps with a star ears skin is like saying every fps ever is a generic fps cause you shoot a gun.

Honestly, after Disney bought all the rights to the Star Wars franchise from Lucasfilm and Lucasfilm itself, my hopes and expectations for anything Star Wars related completely plummeted. The fact that it is produced and published by Electronic Arts did not help waver my viewpoint at all. DICE is still Electronic Arts. To me, it's Duke Nukem Forever and Postal 3 all over again.

I could've said the same thing about Destiny, in fact I wanted to. And it took Bungie until the game's second year to finally put in some story elements that can be interacted with. I'm not saying that an interactive story is a must, but Year One Destiny was extremely bland and repetitive without some even with the two expansion packs (which honestly should've been part of the main game in the first place). If Bungie didn't want to reveal too much background details about the Destiny universe and leave most to fan interpretation, they could've just put the Grimoire entries into a little Extras or Library tab on one of the menus or something like that. But no, you must make an account on their website if you wanted to look up info about some guy who made some weapon. And they're not even organised into book pages or documents or anything similar, they had to be formatted like fucking trading cards. Bloody brilliant. If they can't even bother to put in the full credits for their game, that should be a red signal that it's going to be rubbish. Going back to the topic, I said that to me, it will feel like a DNF or Postal 3 moment because (I'm sure someone has mentioned this already, but) the first two Battlefront games were part of my childhood. Battlefield was not, and I had bad experiences when I reluctantly tried it out of a friend's insistence. I'm sure in reality, the gameplay itself is not as bad as I make it out to be, but irrational thought (especially ones that are nostalgia-driven) makes me think otherwise. I have the same problem concerning Halo 5.

percival086 Well that sounds like a personal problem. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. It can be incredibly blinding. The fact of the matter is: things change, games evolve for better or for worse, but being blinded by nostalgia just causes you to miss out on potentially fun games/things.

this game is so much fun. I played the beta for 10 hours and didn't get bored of it at all. I find most people's lack of faith in the game disturbing. as some one who still plays battlefront 2, no game is worthy to succeed it but it's about time we had a star wars game, and one that's loads of fun.

This is a bit of a generational thing. I find that most people of my own age pronounce "AT-AT" as two words, not as four letters, but I've noticed that most people younger than myself pronounce it as the latter. I think this may be because when the toys were released, back in 1980, the voice-over on the advert called it the "at at" walker.

I dont know what it is. But the unbalanced mess that is walker assault feels pretty authentic. I dont know why, but me and my friends playing rebels on it had a bunch of fun making this almost "final stand" against impossible odds. We actually managed to win once. And when we did, it was literally the greatest moment ever. You normally dont get that from games.
