It's a "the rich get richer situation". There's still plenty of fun stuff coming. The Dream realm thing is something of headache, but it's fine. As for being a chess piece... People in the novel point out that he obviously had potential, to be worth it for both Heaven's Will and the Venerables to try and use him. But anyway, this is really more like the Free Will / Determinism question is real life. From a human perspective, you strive and give your best. From a universe level perspective, our paths may nevertheless be pre-determined... But that doesn't change your human experience. Alexander the Great would not have been that if not for his father's work. But that doesn't mean that he wasn't amazingly talented himself also. In Fang Yuan's case, Heaven's Will didn't just give him the Spring Autumn Cicada, it likely also limited his growth and made things harder for him so that he'd eventually be cornered. He was meant to be strong, but not end up so strong that he wouldn't work as a chess piece anymore. Being guided into Blood Path, he was positioned so that he'd never be at peace or able to grow easily. ... I ended up saying more or less what you said. lol - I felt the Venerables could've been worked on a bit more. Even if it's hard for a human author to appreciate what the perspective of someone who's lived tens of thousands of years.

Yeah... Heaven's will didn't purely help him. It also greatly limited his growth. It needed him to become immortal but the stronger he becomes the harder it would be to control him.

He becomes rule path grand master when he obtains the wall qi inheritance in the south border. He talked to the will left behind by the inheritance and the will resonated with fang yuan's determination and gave him his attainment levels. It was not off screen it was very much on screen.

I think this is largely discounted by the plotting of the venerable. However for me personally I never really minded his rapid development after getting the sovereign immortal body, The battle for the SI body was always the turning point of the story that represented drastic benefits for the victor. In the original timeline spectral soul essentially ruled over the world, heaven court and even fate and heavens will due to his success at producing the SI body. Then in the first instance of the new timeline when heavens will and by extension heavenly court won they killed off the threat of shadow sect, wiped out thousands of fate defiers, killed fang yuan and would have claimed all of the dream realm knowledge gained by spectral soul without even awakening duke long. So when it came to fang yuans victory it felt like despite his raped growth it was at least comparable to the benefits the other participating particle acquired from their successes.

one small thing: immortal stones are worth at least about 100.000.000 primeval essence stones, you can buy spring egg gu in treasure yellow heaven and it produce 100m primeval stones, plus you can (in some case) substitute immortal essence with about 100million stones (refining 2nd aperture)

Fang Yuan wasn't destined to destroy fate. In his first timeline, he was lucky enough to get a 500 year lifespan gu, meaning he was both still alive, and old enough by the time Heaven's Will made plans to foil Spectral Soul via time whammy. there was no alternative otherworldly demon that filled the conditions of 1. Alive in the Great Era, and 2. Had been born early enough to make a difference, I.e. before spectral soul refined the Supreme Fetus Gu. In his rebirthed timeline, he accomplished many amazing feats due to both his own efforts and past knowledge, and the behind the scenes guidance of Heaven's Will. His arguably greatest feat before the Fate war is surviving Heaven's Will before he even knew he was being targeted by it. The investment of Inheritances by the venerables do not invalidate his own achievements. Each inheritance was planted by the venerables long before Fang Yuan was even born/transmigrated, meaning it was a plot that would use anyone in his circumstances. what he did with those investments was his own work. Oh, and regarding MC footage, if you're gonna mine in the dark, either use Optifine's dynamic lighting and an offhanded torch, or increase the gamma filter to brighten the cave enough that viewers can see what you're doing.

Your right and i agree with everysthing you said , apart from the unown variable. Lifespan gu. Heavens will is omnipresent and can see in the past, present and future,and influence them. So in the time of Fang Yuans first life when he obtained the lifespan gu he still was only a half otherworldly demon with abundant heavens will in/on him. Remember Heavens wills methods are, fate , tribulations and lifespan gu and since he has the body filled with heavens will couldnt javens will have influenced him and/or his suroundings to bring him straight to the lifespawn gu since it knowns where it is and he was still a mere gu master at that point? Well it isnt pointed out if thats the case or not, but for him to find a 500 years lifespawn gu on his own seems a bit suspicious to me, does it not?

"Fang Yuan severely loses, he is no longer handsome" :D great video, i am spoiling myself many things also, when i started reading reverend insanity i knew already what his venerable would be, also in what chapter does he become rank 6,7,8 an 9 i view immortals like mostly gorillas, they do, eat, sleep, when in combat they fight for intimidation instead of killing, and when hurt or attacked they usually run away, if te opponent is stronger or they might risk injuries yeah, FY is pretty fast in gaining attainments, but i dont really mind it, i like in that arc how he shemes against heavenly court and other immortals

I think my favorite moments are when he uses Gu to creatively solve problems that are not combat related. His preparation for schemes is truly the best, which may be why I'm not super interested in the fate war itself. Gu houses versus Gu houses versus legendary immemorial desolate beasts versus immortals firing different colored attacks starts to look the same across all the chapters. However, I can't wait to see the benefits reaped after the chaos ends, as always.

it is not that you can't keep up with the info cause you're binge reading, although that is one reason you vaguely remember things, his grandmaster rule path attainment did happen off screen, as a few others do later on. what ticked me off is how the author made some mistakes, like fang yuan annexing soul grotto heaven (you need great grandmaster to annex a rank 8 aperture) while only having grandmaster soul path attainment, which btw to the newest chapter he still does...

That's a good point. There is unfortunately some disconnect when you've been reading for over an hour and are starting to skim over the parts of the next chapters that cover the previous chapters. I'm glad that rule path was actually of screen, because I would have felt a loss if I had missed it. It's unfortunate though, because rule path is very interesting! I would have hoped FY uses plenty of rule path methods similar to his usage of theft path methods.

Ten chapters later at chapter 1628 the author listed his attainments and said that rule path "also entered (grandmaster) category".

Obviously Chandrakant Shah said already what I want to say, but to make a better explaination (it's not a spoiler because it is said in the video) his worth as a chess piece for Heaven's Will was long gone, and after the destruction of Fate Gu his worth for the Venerables is also gone, now his only worth was not as a chess piece to be used, but as a juicy piece of meat to be devoured by the Venerables. The battle of crazed demon cave, even if one of the shortest and less interesting arcs, is the most important and dangerous arc for Fang Yuan. He becomes a chess player using the accumulated resources lent to him by the people who used him and by using his wits to a level we did not see from the time of his rebirth in the village, to overcome threats well beyond the level he could cope with strenhgt mainly. That's one of the reasons it's one of my favourite arcs (even if, as I said, is not particularly interesting). A lot of SPOILER: Tecnically he received help from Paradise Hearth, but once again for the benefit of the Venerable himself.

Fang Yuan gets discredited too much imo. He always had a potential of a Venerable, and not the lowest of them. He was just suppressed by Heaven's Will and fate instead of the other Venerables who had the help of them.

In my experience, most Xianxia is slow paced at first to develop the world. In later chapters, especially with RI, the author doesn't have to explain the MC doing Rank 6 abilities at rank 8, however, in the early parts of any novel, the author must first emphasize how rare a rank 6 existence is, and praise their endless and unfathomable abilities to provide context to new readers. When you start a new Xianxia, it has to be because you want to read it, not because your friend tells you it's good. You just won't read it with care like you would if you yourself wanted to read it.

The thing is that Heaven's will can alter circumstances to some extent but can't change a person's personality. In fact, considering Fang Yan is a transmigrator he is somewhat impervious to Heaven's will, which is also why he was chosen by Heaven's will, because by being able to defy fate he would be able to defy Spectral Soul. So even though Heaven will aided him in getting Spring Autumn Cicada it would not have worked if Fang Yuan was not the kind of person to desire it and use it. I do agree though that it diminished his achievements somewhat in my eyes as well. The whole cultivating blood path to spring a trap in his next life is really lame. But again it does show how Fang Yuan is in charge, because he never used Blood his blood path skills once in his new life, even though Heaven's Will wanted him to do so. So yes, every thing happened because Fang Yuan made it happen, Heaven's Will couldn't stop this even if it tried as we saw when he destroyed Fate gu. Heaven's will just observed Fang Yuan and knew he would be a good pawn. And I suspect it wasn't even Heaven's will who gave him lifespan gu but his luck gave it to him. Only then when he accumulated so much life experience and hardened his outlook on life did Heaven will consider him as a pawn.

Zombie arc can be pretty tough on some readers, but I will say that it's the last slow part of the novel, and speaking from the greater picture, one of the last real times that Fang Yuan is the underdog. You will see what happens when he revives, but to put it plainly, his cultivation possibilities skyrockets much higher than any other human, and starting from his revival is simply a countdown to inevitably becoming the next Venerable. Very quickly afterwards he hits rank 7, and hits rank 8 even faster than that. Before you know it, he will be the strongest human alive in the blink of an eye. So I would say if you're in it to see FY dominate, then keep reading as it's slow while he's undead, and unimaginably fast afterwards. If you're in it because you like seeing FY as the underdog defeating those who are stronger, then savor this arc because it's the last real time that FY is the small fish devouring the big fish. Afterwards, it's pretty much him dominating the world using less and less schemes and more and more overwhelming might.

I tend to agree with you. Fang Yuan's previous exploits all feel "earned" like Thano's win in Infinity war. But the pace of his progress as of late boggles the mind and feel too easy.

I have received some constructive criticism that I should not have criticized this arc before completely finishing it, but now that I'm in the 1900s, I can say, although it does feel very fast paced, FY can't remain an underdog forever. With the very simple cultivation ranks, by the time he revives after 6 with the Sovereign Immortal Body, a death race to rank 9 is inevitable in hindsight.

You missed Fang Yuan's biggest backer: Limitless. In order to achieve true immortality, fate gu has to be destroyed in any case. Fang Yuan has exactly the same purpose of life with limitless: Eternal life. But only a true demon beyond heaven can destroy fate gu. I'm suspecting Fang Yuan might be a warped clone of limitless venerable. Also his most precious chess piece.

Fang Yuan is such a classic character. I think that his battle against the Heaven's Will is probably the weakest part of the series just because it's not as interesting as his battles against the righteous path, although it is different than the normal set-up of the webnovel where he steals something or gets into a battle and then runs away for 20 chapters while sacrificing pawns and resources as part of a scheme to get away, and the Shadow Sect has some fun characters. The usage of Spectral Soul's dream realms to raise his power quickly is set up within the story but none of the other characters exploit it like Fang Yuan does so it does feel a little unearned. Honestly Feng Jin Huang should have become an interdisciplinary master too since she has access to dream realms and Gu.

If I were to alter the course of the novel, I would have kept heaven's will, but reduced the it's role and fate's importance. it was a little bit easier for me to be attached to Fang Yuan under the assumption that every person has enough free will to alter their own fate.

In the story fate is absolute and nobody in the world could defy the power of fate. Only a complete otherworldly demon like him can go against fate so it would be hard for him to raise the rest of shadow sect power since fate and heaven will can still influence them plus he's racing against time to get strong. It will take too much time for them to get strong enough to help him plus he know they will betray him which is why he also don't want them to raise their cultivation level too much

Haven't gotten to the part you're talking about, but I would rather read that than the shit I'm reading now. After he obtained the sovereign body, I expected him to rise in battle strength and be able to hold his own, now it's just boring plotting again, and he's even weaker than previous zombie state. Others say zombie state is the weakest he's been since ascending to immortal, but he's even weaker now its frustrating. When he's a zombie, at least he can deduct with wisdom gu, and he has 2 blessed land that's beneficial for him. Now, he's being a dog to the lang ya spirit, doesn't have a complete battle strength since he's gu's are all over the place, now he's being bullied by heavens will. Basically, I expected his prowess to advance after he get the body, but he's still at rank 6, and I'm suppose to read his rank 6 journey all over again, couple that with the redundancy, it's fucking frustrating.

Hate to say that FY was like Ma hong yun. If I swap situation with FY, I would probably died in that kind of Hellish experience. Yes he is fated, but the most important component of his accomplishment was his unwavering perseverance and outstanding character. Btw I get yout point in the video, his attainment level rose up too quickly that I didn't get process the information at once. When I was reading that I asked myself "What the hell happened?". The pace was too fast to read but still happy that FY became more powerful.

Yes! I'm glad you were able to understand. The book teases the difference between fate and destiny, with fate being 100% completely orchestrated, where Destiny may imply that an outcome may be predetermined, but only when you consider outside factors such as probability and the people's decision making and perseverance.
