Wife totalled out her 2012 toyota camry 3wks ago. We went down and bought her this 2015 hyundai sonata sport 2.0 t. This car is amazing. The options are incredible and it's just a beautiful pearl white with black and chrome. We went with the intention of getting another camry but this was just to good too pass up.

The car looks like Mercedes from the front but I don't like the sides to much but it's not bad. It's so big inside and for the price 10k with 40k kilometers on it it was a no brainer just paid the money can't wait to drive it around !!

7:43 I'm going to speak to this. Hyundai was about to lose it's customer base for the Sonata when they came out with the 2011-2014 models. They made a lot of those models. The problem was that the naturally aspirated motor (Mitsubishi created for them) was poorly designed starting having extreme oil consumption issues after 30-40k miles. This is unheard of from a fairly new car at the time. And The issue was that Hyundai would not respond and so when contacted. And when sales tapered lower for the 2013-14 Sonata models Hyundai had to act because they lost a lot of customers.

Love your reviews man i'm always looking forward to your newest reviews. Your reviews are so different from others, but it's different in a good way. The vibe you set when you talk and your music is set perfect to that. All your reviews are quality reviews which I very much appreciate. I usually do not like most cars you review, but it's fun when watching how you guys review it. I guess it's because you guys have humor and explain a lot of the engineering that's going on with these cars which interest me a ton. It's good to know what technology manufacturers are using for their cars. For some reason I always find You and Turbowski humorous in the shop. Keep up these quality reviews!!

I think you covered some good points in your review such as hard plastics for elbow and knee rests, wish they could have used some better material. However, I totally disagree with your review about lights and the center dash. I just love the cool blue lights they are so easy on your eyes when driving at night and I low the gentle blue light by the sunglasses which illuminates the center stack area. I never seen that in any car and just love that. About the center stack, which is very subjective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love the dash and the layout and especially the 8" touch screen and the map rendering. All being said, appreciate your review.

Second review of yours for me, very thorough, I'm subscribing. I like Scott he seems no nonsense, I agree with him that these cars should have V6's, thanks EPA. My wife's Jetta Turbo has cost 5,000 dollars in maintenance and repairs in 76,000 miles, only NA engines for me from now on. These car's used to have upper/lower control arm front suspension and full front sub-frames, instead of the smaller cross member type. The struts are strong enough, but the lower control arms aren't boxed just stamped, which can cause them to flex more under stress.

Nice review. I'll be in the market for a new car in the spring. On my list are the Sonata/Optima as well as a Forte5 SX. We currently have a '12 Forte SX 5 door. We traded the 2008 Sonata for it. Time to get back to two vehicles. I've also owned four VW's and 6 in the family total. My sister is still driving her 05 New Jetta. Also was a mechanic and service advisor for a few different makes - 3 of them German.The 2008 Sonata was boring but reliable as sunrise. Got it already a year old with 27,000 miles in 2008. Ex rental. Traded it at 120,000 for the Forte. Normal maintenance the whole time. The only exceptions were the typical sun visor springs and an exterior door handle. The '12 Forte has 70K on it now and pretty much the same. Just replaced front & rear brake pads. While I agree about the "hard plastics" in comparison to say our VW's, just look inside any late model VW/Audi at window/radio/HVAC buttons and switches. All that "soft-touch" plastic has peeled down to the bare white plastic. That was one of the biggest interior complaints when I worked for them. They were also hailed for interior design including the blue back lighting. I don't mind it. I sat in a 16 Sonata and 15 Optima SX-L 2 weeks ago at the state fair. I'm 6ft 2, 195 pounds and have nerve damage in my legs and feet from cancer/chemotherapy. The Sonata and Optima SX-L seats are among the best I've sat in as of late and that includes cars costing twice as much. As for the handling, nothing a better set of tires and struts couldn't remedy.

2015 Sonata Sport 2.0T Limited. Just got it in March. Amazing deal since they had it and 8 other similarly equipped 2015's. Over $7000 off sticker out the door with the usual local add-ons of tinted windows, nitrogen filled tires, and a few others. Plus, to make me "happy" about the scratched interior door trim piece, they threw in: 6 more oil changes, cargo net, cargo mat and rear bumper applique. Quartz White Pearl with black interior with the orange piping and stitching with "carbon fiber" inserts on the door panels,etc. Loaded with the exception of a heated steering wheel. Just turned 3500 miles today and I love it. Ventilated seats are the best thing since sliced bread. Overall seat comfort is amazing. One road trip so far. Almost 400 miles with 6 hours behind the wheel. I could have gone farther and longer if I needed to. 90+ degree temps with the a/c going the whole time and speeds at 75+ the majority of the time and still pulled over 28mpg. Not bad considering it only had 1500 miles on it. Love the panoramic roof. Smart cruise control is brilliant. Android Auto works great. Amazing that I can flawlessly dictate a text at 70 mph with the roof open. I just downloaded the Apple Car Play / Navigation update so both phones can be used. Not a fan boy of either but the AA voice recognition works way better than Car Play. And to savagegeese' comment about it being boring, that's what makes it so stealthy lol. The "sedate" fifty-year old barely draws any attention to himself when traveling above "reasonable and prudent" ;) Brakes are great. Hefty for this class of car. 12.6 inch front and 11.25 inch rear. Handles well. Electric steering ? Yeah it's EHH but far better than the previous generation from people I've spoken to. I've never had a problem driving any of my cars as I wanted to. If you ever saw a 1983 Mercedes 300SD sideways on an off-ramp, my apologies. Blame Skip Barber lol. I read car reviews, I watch car shows, I've worked in the auto repair industry for 30 years. Reviews are always helpful. But, what a "reviewer" may or may not like, may be something that YOU can live with. The Sonata is not a sport sedan but in this trim, it's big, it's fast enough, and it's comfortable. I don't spend my days drag racing and running laps. There'd be a Subaru STi in my driveway if that were the case. In normal driving, it gets out of it's own way very well and the times that I plant my foot, it has nothing to be ashamed about. No regrets over my choice.

I like your reviews because of the great detail, such as the illumination. I have the previous gen sonata and my BIGGEST gripe is driving at night, so many different shades and tones of blue, and the parking indicator is not adjustable and is very bright. I noticed it's the little things like that where "attention to detail" really comes in, an Acura TSX I test drove at night had very nice lighting and wasn't annoying at all.

Nice info about how expensive the battery is. I noticed that you talk about seat comfort often in your videos. An important detail that no one covers & I challenge you on your next video (or all videos from now on), is to show the floorboard where a drivers left foot can rest if leg is bent and foot pulled all the way back. Oftentimes I find some cars have a floorboard design which does not allow a driver to pull their foot all the way back. The floor is raised. Sucks during long drives. Leg room is about stretching out but also about bending your left leg back far enough comfortably. I hope that was as clear as mud!

savagegeese Well the sonata 2.0t compared to my last 2 cars is much quieter, better handling, the ride is just plain ole smooth and enjoyable. It has a much better sat nav, pano roof is always pleasing to the eyes, etc, etc. As for your review, I agree on some of the ugly plastics on the inside of the car but the blue lights..."C'MON"!!! I just so happen to like the "INFANTRY BLUE" color }:0l I do agree Hyundai could've done a better job on the interior in certain areas, but I can critique that on every car I've ever owned. My Avalon had plenty of cheap plastics (tasteful but plenty). My Lexus on the other hand was me best vehicle I ever owned (with it's share of issues I might add).

@@Tehtlata317 I no longer have the car, but the 3 1/2 years i had the sonata been great. I had issues with it starting (push button) at work a few times. Might've been electrical gremlins or something. The transmission shifted funny ever so often, and when I made sharp right or left turns the front end will dip heavily. No car is perfect, but I really enjoyed having it for that long.

I agree that the turn signal is so damn loud jeez cars in other lanes can hear it. It her than that it's awesome. I wanted the best generic sedan clean lines and soft curves with straight edges. It just makes for a simple design that is perfect.
@MegaTechpc6 жыл бұрын
You probably also got it for thousands and thousands less than any other comparably equipped car in the segment, which is Hyundai's main selling point with the Sonata.
@MegaTechpc6 жыл бұрын
To be fair, when you are building a car to a price as aggressively as Hyundai is with the Sonata, the details are the very first thing that have to be sacrificed. The Sonata is what it is, and that's supposed to be an affordable roomy midsize sedan that offers competitive features and performance. I agree with everything you said 100% and the Sonata is definitely not the car for me, but there is a reason Hyundai designed it the way they did. I much prefer the 2018 Accord 2.0T Touring or even the Mazda 6 Signature, but those are MUCH more expensive cars than a loaded Sonata.

The theta engines in these particularly 2011-2014 have a defect that seizes the engine. You'll hear a connection rod slap, tinny sound getting louder when it's going to happen. Between 40k and 100k miles is when it happens. They were sued class action lawsuit and have been installing new engines free of cost and rentals on a case by case basis. They claimed contaminants from a plant but it's likely to design. The oil isn't getting to the lower crankshaft. In short, don't ever buy these cars unless you're within the grace period of 120k miles they extended. You'll be stuck with a 7k bill for a new short block replacement.

Eco mode and sport mode feel the same?? The steering hardens quiet a bit and the shifts are at higher rpm...Come on.
@savagegeese8 жыл бұрын
+kzzz1000 I am talking about steering feel, not trans behavior. Just because it increases steering effort does not mean it make it better. It feels more synthetic. I talked to the Ford GT350 pro drivers about this same issue when we did our track time. All of them leaving steering in ECO or normal because the more aggressive steering modes make the car less natural to steer. Different car same principles.

savagegeese I dont think that is correct, if you look at the 0-60 times people posted its a lot quicker then they say around 6.5-7.0 seconds
@ak21129 жыл бұрын
Matthew Mattera Car and Driver has the Eco doing 0-60 1.3 seconds faster than the Sport. The 1/4 mile difference is 1.0 seconds. Motor Trend also found the Eco quicker, though not as drastically as C&D. And I'm here on the internet, talking about acceleration times of a Korean midsize car. Kill me now, I want to die.
@savagegeese9 жыл бұрын
***** One thing I did not really say in the review is the power is inconsistent. Never accelerates the same twice, either because of tuning or heatsoak or both. But really this is not a performance car on any level so like you said arguing korean midsized cars... I can bet if you started the car cold did one solid run it would be faster than the Eco maybe once or twice.
@Pokemonaddict899 жыл бұрын
***** That's impossible, its the same car with 67 less horsepower. You can tell in the video its not the turbo by the sound and interior cluster. Plenty of people proved that on KZbin and on several forums. I personally drove the 2.4 and turbo and can say with confidence, that was the 2.4 in the videos. Then again, due to temperature and sea level of the areas where the videos were taken, it could play a strong part in the 8+ seconds people are getting.
