I daily a Black 6MT since December 17, 2016. The interior is one one the best things about the car, after the way it drives. Personally I find the new trend of floating tablet Nav units to be gaudy and tacky. Everything is layed out very logically, and flows together very well. It is a wonderful place to be. I think this is what really sets it apart from so many other flashy and shouty interiors. When you spend time in it, you notice all the smaller details there are, like thin chrome trim accents, and faux carbon fiber details. I find it beautiful in the simplicity of it, in an age of over the top designs all begging and shouting for attention, this is refreshingly simple.

Coming out of a Mazda3 of 4 years and into this, I would like to give my insight on the difference in the steering. The reviewer indicated the lack of feedback and I agree. The mazda has better feedback but the sport has much better turn in response so it feels more reactive to my inputs. Also the mazda has a dead spot when going straight. Overall I prefer the steering in the sport. The size of the wheel on the mazda is huge compared to the sport. It is too big IMO as it feels like you are piloting a large SUV. This car is a great value in the segment.

Somehow just came across this. Ive had a DCT 2018 Elantra sport for almost 2 years now. Love it just as much as the day I bought it. Only thing now is its on some good coilovers, has a bigger/better flowing intercooler and charge piping, a tune, downpipe and some other stuff. BTW, for potential buyers that are watching this. A better rear sway bar pretty much eliminates whatever little bit of understeer this car has and almost induces oversteer at times. A limited slip is only desirable in this thing really in autoX scenarios, have a few buddies that AUTOX and track these and they do very well, just need better pads/rotors/fluid for the brakes. Also, get a 6MT if you can, the DCT is good once you learn its quirks but it leaves a lot to be desired.

This Elantra Sport is a home run... Hyundai have really been stepping up their game on both design and quality. You can clearly see Audi's design influence since its the same designer. +Justin Kelly I do as well for color temps alone and you dont have to replace the entire headlamp when a bulb/LED fails.
@JustinKelly8 жыл бұрын
The LED headlights are brutal on your eyes when they are in the oncoming lane. Noticed the new Fords and Cadillacs are particularly bad with glare. We put new LED housings in our Wrnagler and the color temp is way above 6000k. Looks purple even though they classify them as 6500k.
@tr0llbuster2926 жыл бұрын
@@JustinKelly LED's produce less glare than HID's. But it also depends on what kind of headlight housings you're running. The output is also worse on HID's too. If you put LED bulbs in halogen housings, of course it's going to be bad, same with HID's. That's why projector headlights are the way to go. Besides, LED's last longer too.

Another great review dude! It's still crazy how far Hyundai and Kia have come from my perspective, back in the 90's and early 00's they were garbage cars, now they're on par with all the big Japanese companies, in some cases offering a lot more bang for your buck, and they just keep making improvements and listening to their customers, which is awesome. I'm SUPER interested in seeing how their new "N" line turns out, with the strides they've been making I have high hopes they'll release something that will really be a home run with the "sporty" enthusiast market.

Get that premium upgrade if you can. Had so many high end cars in the past and this is best bang for your buck. Looks like a S3 actually. Hyundai stole Audi's designer so I figure that's why. You want a perfect car for the next 6-8 years to stack money and invest this is it. I got the manual i wanted to be involved for my 100 mile commute everyday.

I also just picked up a CPO 18 manual to replace my Q50 lease. It really is a bargain on the used market. A comparable Civic SI is 5k more. It's nice to see that Hyundai has finally got this car going and growing in the right direction. I own a 2012 Elantra and love it because of it's nimbleness kind of feel, but most of all its reliability. I've always hoped that Hyundai would take this design to the next level and now that they have, I wouldn't mind holding out for a little more from it. Such as the limited slip for one and a little more power and torque would be worth to hold out for as well, but they keep the engine design to run on regular fuel, not to require higher octane and I appreciate them doing that so far. One other thing that would do it for me is the electronic seat memory control system and do it for both sides and led lighting for the head lights . I have to agree though, I love and appreciate how the styling of this car works for me, not over done like how goddy the Honda Civic Si looks and Hyundai nailed it here, not only with style, but with class as well. By the way, is this engine designed with a timing belt or chain? I prefer chain myself.

I am really looking out for your review of the Stinger GT when it comes out. I read online that the KIA Stinger will have the same 8sp auto trans from the Genesis and the K900. Having driven these cars before, do you think this is concerning seeing that the Genesis and K900, in your reviews, did not have a particular "sporty" quick shifting action when in manual mode or do you think that this is something that can be simply addressed by different trans programming?
@JustinKelly8 жыл бұрын
Caio Ronnau That can probably be address a little in the programming but also they most likely took that into account.

As of right now we can only hope for a better trans programming and faster shift times, at least in a manual/racing mode for the stinger GT. It deserves it; the car looks too good and sporty to have a slow unresponsive transmission. Great video btw as always.

Another job well done. I saw a video with same exterior color as your tester but with red leather interior. Please bring the red leather to the US, Hyundai.

If you ever get the new Elantra GT Sport try to test the manual, it would be a nice comparison to the sedan+DCT.

I just picked up one today, 2018 CPO w/12K and DCT, sadly but 6 speeds are like finding Hoffa🙄

You don’t like the DCT? I just bought a new one (2019) and had to wait for the DCT, they had 2 6spds. To be clear, I’ve driven only manuals for over 20yrs, I thought the DCT was awesome. I must just be getting old.

@@Chris-pb3se I've had the car for over 2 yrs and 25K and it's been a great car! Trans is fun, especially on the Tail of the Dragon and surrounding roads!

Also I've added a SXTH Element enclosed intake and JUN BL axle-back to it and it sounds even better than before. Additionally I had a SXTH Element single catchcan added and it's been a life saver, so much sh!t gets collected, especially during the winter!! I've added Konig Understeer rims and added the Hyundai centercap for an OEM look Also some quarter louver covers for the rear quarter window.

So is the DCT worth it? Looking into getting this car but want it to be more fun than the auto but don't really want to fully commit to the manual.

I've been pretty interested in this car because they're affordable and a nice balance of what I want. It's no GTI but its also 5k less than the GTI sport. I have a 2007 Civic Si but for a daily commuter this could be a nice change. Only part that bothers me is that it is a Hyundai and I wonder how long their DCT's will last.

J Wise well Hyundai aren't like what they used to be in the 1990's they have really showed that they can be more reliable. There kinda neck and neck with a Honda and Toyota. But I say go for it get a Hyundai Elantra sport you won't regret it get it with a manual transmission

J Wise don't hesitate to buy one is a excellent inexpensive car and with a good care you will love it everyday. good luck. by the way I have a 2015 se model. I use royal purple oil I recommend you do that.

I walked out of a dealership today with a quote for over $4k off the price of a 6MT premium package equipped Elantra Sport. That's just under $21k well spent IMO.

We have a sonata with the DTC and at 68k there have been zero issues and zero extra maintenance Update: at 87k miles still no issues.

I'm glad you mentioned the steering feel. Without decent feedback, the car loses me.

I appreciate your review and thank your for that. And you seem like a well informed car enthusiast. But what you describe as you accelerate is torque steer. Understeer is a push during cornering as you attempt to apply power.

I think a good comparison for this vehicle is the VW GLI. Very similar and mature appointments inside and out

The DCT is also night and day compared to my '15 Sonata Eco with the DCT. It's an ENORMOUS difference. I think it's the transmission to go with after driving the manual and DCT back to back. The manual is just really synthetic feeling and doesn't offer any extra enjoyment experience, but the DCT does.

I had just said Fusion after seeing the side view. Great car. That 1.6T with that HP compared to a 2014 VW Tiguan 2.0T.

I have a company vehicle but I bought my wife a 2015 Elantra Limited loaded with everything but the Navigation. It’s really a nice car but I’m waiting for the new GT with the 2.0 Turbo and the heated steering wheel. My wife will really like the heated wheel, I will like the 2.0 Turbo!!!
