I had a 1500km trip in our long termer at Auto Bild. Its a great car the M3 competition. Still like the M2 more as a drivers car and for its small size, but that engine here really is a rocket. Great review Matt!

why do people prefer touch screens when you can just lay your arm to your right and find anything you are looking for with little effort. imagine how hard it would be to be driving and having to take your eyes of the road to stare at the screen for a couple of seconds to find the button you are looking for and make sure you press it!
@chitterlingsrtasty4 жыл бұрын
Prefer a good function touch screen over messing with that dial. With the interaction with phones and tablets touching a screen vs a button is more intuitive.
@Pjmperez014 жыл бұрын
Ricardo Morales i dont prefer touchscreen and whoever says touchscreen is better were lying to themselves because they would say its much better but deep inside they just want to act like touchscreen is cool and just discreetly showing off to other people, its pathetic. Touchscreen in the end is not future proof and expensive to replace and just a distraction while driving. And thats coming from my generation “i want touchscreen, coz its cool” type.

Matt, thanks again for coming to Columbus to do the review! Your opinion is pretty much spot on with my personal thoughts about the M3 as well. It's definitely not a perfect vehicle, but it's a heck of an overall package. The GTS flash is only for the DCT (dual clutch transmission) and makes no engine changes. Only improved shifting and smoothness. Best regards, and I look forward to more excellent car reviews in the future! Aaron

Good review. Love the M3...lots of heritage with that badge. That DCT is awesome. Just not a big fan of the styling...just very busy up front vs the E92/E90 M3s. I miss the sound of the V8 too. Versus the ATSV, I'd take the M3. Performance is marginally better in the ATSV but the interior of the M3 is much more livable (for now---cmon Cadillac!!). Thanks!

Nice review. Some constructive criticism: You really should work on eliminating "you know" as a filler word or limiting it. Every so often isn't noticeable, but you're saying it too much. I think it's one way you can improve your videos.
@VaunShiz8 жыл бұрын
J Koe the bad part is, he's reviewing a car, so he should be telling us subjective stuff we don't know, him saying you know is admitting he's just telling us stuff *we already know* haha
@MattMaranMotoring8 жыл бұрын
Yeah it's something I'm aware of and try to improve. The challenging part is that I never script my reviews and like speaking "off-the-cuff" about what I'm feeling while reviewing. I realize it's more professional to recite a script like most other professional auto journalists, but to me it comes off a little less sincere that way. Nevertheless, I still would like to cut out more of the filler words, it's just not easy for me.
@HotRefuse8 жыл бұрын
Definitely don't go scripted. I had to take a class on speech in the military and they taught us to turn filler words into pauses. It's super hard to do, but it adds more depth and value to what you're saying. It's one of those things you have to work yourself away from. Sometimes my wife and I call each other out on filler words. It helps when you're working on it with someone else. I catch myself saying "like." It's the worst!
@MattMaranMotoring8 жыл бұрын
+J Koe haha yeah it's a tough habit to break. I took a public speaking class in college that helped me a bit but I think while driving I have so much to focus on (especially when driving quickly) that it makes focusing on speech that much harder. I'm hoping with time to get better with it though because guys like Matt Farah are still very eloquent off the cuff even while driving fast so I know it's possible haha.

Anyone else feel like the best days of the M3/M4 are behind them? I mean BMW M doesn’t even want to use them to compete in the main GT races which is what they set out to do with the original M3 when they had to homologate a car to compete. Now they use the M6 and soon the M8 while you’ll only see the M4 racing in GT4 leagues...

I hope BMW doesn't listen to the people that complain about there interiors on there M cars!! Those people don't realize that when and if BMW does such a change, I guarantee the PRICE on the Ms will definitely go up $10k-$20k!! All because a bunch of Cry 😭 Babies that probably don't even OWN a newer M, are upset about the already beautiful center dash board!! These people say "Why can't you be more like Mercedes AMG or Audi S and RS series...?" , Like really... SMH!!! If it ain't broke then don't fix it, Only improve it and increase its features... ALL while keeping those Dollar💵Bills💵down💵🤑💯 So people are still able to get an already Beautiful, Sexy Car without having to make six figures a year to be able to afford it and get to play and have fun with such cars 🚗!! This new M3 is something cool for sure. I've been a huge M3 fan for years. But when this came out, I didn't feel the same. To me it's just another cool sports car. I'm not gonna say I wouldn't own this car, but I wouldn't buy it with the mindset that I'm buying an M3 .. if that makes sense. And it's probably the only M3 I probably wouldn't get in manual. It just fits this car's personality with the new ones that it should be an auto (paddles). Nice review tho.

The M3 is closer to 3600 lbs in weight. I don't think the car is making any more than advertise. I remember the 2012 Boss 302 was also 3600 lbs and run the quarter mile in 12.3. The M3 Competition package is slightly faster at 12.0 seconds flat. I think most of the advantage has to do with the M3s transmission. The manual version is probably running similar times as the Boss 302 did. I like the M3 looks, the interior is a bit dated but still offers the luxury comforts that are expected out of a 60k luxury vehicle. The only issue I have with this car is that the engine just doesn't sound that great, that's probably my only issue with this car of and the fact that is way out of my reach money wise :D
@zatharos64277 жыл бұрын
SpyderRios in terms of horsepower, BMW has always underrated their turbocharged I6's. Some dyno's have actually shown that 425 hp is at the wheels rather than the crank itself. Theoretically the ZCP makes the car closer to 450ish horsepower
