I think Honda did a great job coming from a previous Evo X owner. The car performs very well and I think looks pretty damn good. Some angles it can look overly aggressive but purposely done and I think suites the Type R badge. Well done Honda.

@@lancermafia1982 What I drive is a 2018 Ford Raptor. Obviously not meant for track racing. However, I grew up liking import cars like the Integra Type R, Toyota MR2, '98 Supra, Civic Si electron blue, etc..Eventually you grow out of it. I was looking forward to the new Supra but it's a BMW Z4 with Toyota badges. Now that I can afford almost anything I want. I still skipped this Civic Type R for bigger and better things. Almost bought a Tesla model S too.

yes, only 300lbs with over 100hp more, so the big question matt is this. I know it's rwd vs fwd but does the r handle as good or better than the twins brz/86? i'm tired of waiting for sub/toy twins to add even a small turbo or headers from the factory for just 25-30 more hp but alas I think it's never gonna happen and I don't want to void a brand new warranty by engine upgrades when it's up to the builder to listen/give people what they want. I want a lightweight good handling car like a twin with just a little more power without going into caymen money or Camaro/mustang weight. is this r the ticket? you've driven both matt, does this handle as well as the twins? I know the powertrain is good + Honda reliability. if only the twins had an engine like the r or even just 25hp more. let me know your opinion matt, thanks and great review as usual!

Well with different driven wheels and different sizes it'll drive differently than the twins. But the handling is so good in the Type R I doubt it'll disappoint you handling wise unless you like to kick the back end out a lot on the twins. Otherwise I think this is a great alternative if you want more power with still awesome handling.

Haters, did you know that "riced wing" and those "ugly after thought rear fenders" are what made this car do so well on the nurburgring? Every detail on the exterior of this car serves a purpose. if you think it looks bad, that's ok. Styling is subjective. Go buy your POS Golf or the RS. We don't care!

I'm by no means an engineer or an expert on cars, but it got that record by removing the rear seats and "infotainment system" with a roll cage added. Does a roll cage not add more support to the car as a whole? Does the roll cage compensate for the weight that was lost? I just find it a little odd that it wasn't technically stock when it got the record.

I am deeply impressed and respect the level of performance that Honda continues to make in their vehicles. The performance numbers are truly amazing. I look forward to seeing how these do in the near future after some modification in time attacks around the world when compared to other iconic vehicles with great interest. That being said, I have literally taken, (and flushed), the hairiest of dumps that look better than this car. Please go back to the right track that you were on when designing the S2K, ITR, NSX, and older civics. Please stop relying on a load of preschoolers to design the exterior of this car. Please for the love of god, someone make a tasteful body kit to slap on this thing. I know they wanted a car that could race around the track and pickup groceries on the way home, but if they were so focused on the performance aspects of this car, that they obviously were, then why make it look like the F&TF's turd wannabe? This is more relate-able to something along the lines of a tall, awd sedan than a sporty Civic typeR. However, this is my opinion, which will be down voted into oblivion by the name-defenders and other triggered individuals. Please Japan, go back to designing the iconic beauties of the 90's with today's tech.

You video are good, I like them a lot, you don't mute all the road noise, sounds and you can hear the engine good, a lot of the other channels do to much production shit and their channels sound like they are driving in a simulator. If you reviewing a car let us hear it, this is not no Sunday drive listen to opera, they should get on it like you do. Your Type R video is one of three best I have seen so fare and I have watched like over 20 so fare, but number on of the three, is the world record breaking Nurburgring Civic Type R.

slaWterCH all the aero is 100% functional and serves a purpose for track racing look it up. that's why another part in helping it travel at such high speeds without losing much grip. it's one of the only cars out especially in it's price range that provides actual downforce all throughout the chassis. not just drag reduction, I like it cause it's crazy be loud and bold. look like a great car and that nurburgring lap holy hell car rips in stock form allready.

preludeF20Bking All FF drivers probably also say the same thing. I used to own a RSX and RL FWD. The RSX had tiny amounts of it with 140lb ft and the RL had more of it with 215lb ft.

saw one in person today and it looks so much better in person then on video. I do wish it was all wheel drive like it's competitors but beggers can't be choosers. I love the car personally and will most likely get one in the near future
