You have quickly become my favorite airgun reviewer, actually for well over a year. Here is why...Instead of kissing the arse of the makers of the AA Ultimate Sporter Xtra, you brought to light, the things they had done wrong and what could/should be done to rectify the situation and make it right. To me, it reminds me of a better, more pleasing to the eye Marauder. I sent my Marauder from PA to my friend and very under recognized builder, fabricator, restorer and tuner...Rich Dudek! I am new to PCPs but had an idea of what needed to be addressed and faith in Rich to do that which I didn't know. First a hammer debouncer, Lane regulator, a better shroud, a gen 1 bolt swap and an extended air tube for even more air, which he fabricated his self out of delron because he was fed up, waiting too long for extension. He did a few other things that I can't recall.The end result was a quieter more efficient, smoother performing rifle, that his wife was hitting 1 inch spinners every time at 75 yards! From your review...Many, if not all these things need to be addressed. The difference is the AAs rifle cost twice as much. It is far more aesthetically pleasing but after all the mods, the Mrod still cost hundreds less and the AA rifle, still needed the same mods to make it right. The Ultimate Sporter is wicked beautiful and stupid accurate but when will these companies do what they know needs to be done to make their product spot on? Men like you put it out there and we put it in our reviews as the consumer! At any rate,I apologize for my long winded rant on your well done review! Keep up the great reviews....The whole truth and nothing but the truth! The Bigman aka...Ron

Super review as always ;-) 3 questions : 1.What scope are you using on this riffle? 2. If you really had the money to buy only one super air gun riffle , what would be your ultimate choice? 3 You enter a rifle shop, ( money in the pocket > your mind is set for an air arms S 510 and you have have to choice > an air arms s,510 in .177 or .22 caliber ? ... What riffle would be lying on your back seat when driving home ?

Thanks to you I decided to buy air arms 510 FAC-it was a very good choice. It wasn't easy thing to do here in Poland.
@Kigai119 жыл бұрын
Your right you can't compare a Benjamin Marauder to the Air Arms, you gotta look at the price difference between the 2 but the Marauder is a great gun for the money and its for those that can't afford an Air Arms, Daystate, or FX which cost 3 times as much. I have the marauder in .177 and .22 and I get 60 shots on each and both are doing 21fpe which is plenty for what I use it for which is those starlings, and pigeons and I do a little hung for rabbit and squirrel. Great vid as always keep up the good work.

I do agree Mat about the shot count thing, I should know, I have a Benjamin discovery. And I wish I had a hammer de- bounce system Which is a very good way of getting more shots per fill. I hear where you are coming from.

Awesome video with logical advice. Hopefully a rep at air arms sees this (because I know if I bought a gun like this, it would be an fx due to shot count)

Regulated FX bobcat gets around 75-85 shots from 220 down to 110 bar with a spread of around 15 fps. It will send a pellet up a starlings nostril at 50 metres. Love Air Arms but the shot count and bell curve means me having to remember where on the curve I am whilst in out in the field? No thanks, I'd rather have less to calculate, spend a bit more on a regulated rifle and focus on quarry. Just my two cents worth but each to their own.
@AirArmsHuntingSA9 жыл бұрын
***** I think I will definitely do that at some stage. Just need his details!

Hey Matt why don't you just send your gun to a tuner? there are plenty here in south africa. My spa m10 had an absolutely horrible shot string after I got it tuned by scout sniper on the air rifle forum, I went from a 15 shot count to around 35 shots before I saw a significant drop off. Once again great video looking forward to seeing more hunting in the future!

kareemancher I have a pr900w and it is also not that bad. I get around 30 shots. But what is the long range capabilities of the m10? Out to about lets say 70 m?

hi Matt i just bought an evanix blizzard s10 and it is proving to be very accurate indeed . i only shot it with the 15.89 and 18.13 jsb ,both pellets are highly accurate. i have an air arms s 400 classic as well not xtra fac thou and it is very accurate as well . The look of the ultimate sporter is fantastic thou. Regards Joseph from Malta Europe

Man, Air Arms are like the Ferrari's of air rifles. And much like the aforementioned Ferrari, I will have to purchase one when I win the lottery.
@MarkJones-sk6vk9 жыл бұрын
Hi I just bought one. Can you post the ballistics for the rifle? For instance the a 18.13 gr jsb at full power if zeroed at 50 yds what is the adjustment in mils for a 20, 30, 40, 60, 70, 80yd shot? At a 5 mph full value wind what are the adjustment at the same ranges. Love the pellet rifle. For those thinking about one the ultimate stock is much nicer than the walnut in my opinion.

I totally agree with Matt! if AA make this gun with more shots count./high power I don't mind to pay xtra$$ for it...

@tavi10229 жыл бұрын
Greetings from California-big fan of your work. Trying to decide btwn .25 and .22. Cal- I turkey hunt and need to shoot at 90 to 100 yards. Will the .25 have enough accuracy at this range considering its max velocity of 780 fps? thx

Hi, I see you are using the Hawke Airmax 30 scope. I have the 3-12x50 version as well. How accurate do you find the rangefinding via the focus wheel? I do not have a range finder and usually struggle with range estimation. Thanks

@jaywhitney7898 жыл бұрын
not if you are shooting a target with size of a pence out at 70 yards you need to be very accurate with your range,
@ronmartinii65619 жыл бұрын
I would be VERY VERY curious to see how the AA would preform with a regulator tuned for the best of both worlds. Good power and good shot count. Flatten the bell to lumpy pancake and I also wonder how accuracy would improve. And maybe just changing the pellet gr to a lighter or heaver pellet would preform at the ULTIMATE REGULATOR TUNE.... Just food for thought... As always a great video and entertaining/educational and fun to watch. Thanks and keep them coming. Ron
@edgarlombera70669 жыл бұрын
Fx and Daystate are more expensive because they come with a bit larger air reservoirs and most come with regulators or the option to have one installed. The build quality of AA matches them, but without a regulator they can't compete consistency wise. Accuracy is the same. If only AA gave the option of a regulator to be installed i happily pay the extra money. Still i wouldn't trade my s510 .22 for anything!

if you could choose between air arms S510, Fx,bobcat and Kalibrgun cricket (either bullpup or carbine) for shot count, accuracy and hunting/target shooting, which one would you choose? oh in the 22 caliber or 25.
@hunter100t9 жыл бұрын
Nice video matt, But with it's low shot count and inconsistent power curve (I know you can predict the power curve but you know what I mean) would you say that this rifle from air arms is the ultimate sporter, The s410 is a very highly regarded rifle and always will be, but something tells me that air arms need to re think this one ( ultimate sporter ) if they want it to be as succesfull as the other rifles they have, having an adjustable stock won't make it the ultimate sporter, more akin to field target shooting than hunting where you need versatility of hold when out in the field, but I am sure they will figure it out. putting a regulator on board and maybe a bigger air cylinder would perhaps bring it closer to it's bigger rivals. atb phil

Noticed you said that it was possible to lock down the power adjustment via an allen screw on the bottom of the gun. I have a regular S510 with Walnut stock. Is it possible to do so with mine as well? I didn't see that info in the instructions manual.
@AirArmsHuntingSA9 жыл бұрын
Yes, take the stock off and look directly below the power knob - You'll see a small allen screw which you can tighten
@edgarlombera70669 жыл бұрын
Yeah i have the same exact gun, a small allen key will do the job.
@sonudilli24509 жыл бұрын
If you wanted to do long range shots at full power you get 17 consistent shots and then when you fill it to the right pressure so you can have another 17 shots how can you ensure that the pressure is the same . Obviously there is a gauge on the bottle but doesn't the pressure change after its been filled?

There's a forth gun That IMHO Is better than the S510 US . Its regulated , very quiet , stupid accurate , walnut stock , hammer forged barrel , with a bolt action that's very smooth and a hell of a lot cheaper than AA , Daystate , and FX guns .......The BSA R10 .22 gets my vote . Oh and by the way Iv owned two two of the above guns and shot all three..........just sayin.
