This is my favorite Canadian band. Saw them twice this year. Played a show with them years ago before the first full length album came out and have been listening to them regularly since.

I was way into Anciients a decade ago and nearly forgot about them too! A really nice surprise, it was my fave metal album of the year so far until Blood Incantation came out on Friday! I'd add some Mastodon/Baroness style sludge to that list too.

Like you, the vast majority of the time, if a singer growls, I won't be into the band. However, Anciients are that rare exception for me. The music is so outstanding, his clean singing is really good, and the growls are acceptable.

Much longer than Pete's sweet spot and don't think he even brings that up, which speaks to his appreciation. I'm not that into cookie monstrocity vocals but no doubt these 3 travelers of Willowdale leaving some dude behind to take on the Nazareth Hair of the Dog guy's brother are musicians with considerable chops and ideas.

Only thing i will say other then hell yes this is great, if you dont have a great orginal singer just stick to the growls this album would be better with all growls

The first song I was into it and then the growly vocals came in. Listened to the song to its entirety. Really wanted to like this. Sorry. I'm out.
