The strap in the upoer front pocket is an 'add a bag' strap that's used to 'piggy-back' an additional small bag that some would place on top of the main case. Hanging the bag down on front of the roll-aboard lowers the center of gravity making the combination lighter on the arm that pulls them. This is a very nice bag, I have one.

I have a 20 year old B&R that has been in for repairs twice; returned like new each time. If you are trying to keep from junking up the world, this is your bag. I was a tour manager, so doing LOTS of miles for 7 years. One repair was a big exterior gash from the airline company (nothing lost). The other time was a wobbly wheel, also courtesy of airline. PROS: Of course GUARANTEE that is honored; it is well organized inside, and makes things easy to pack/unpack, the suiter is handy addition for a woman too; tie storage works for scarves; the compression packing is handy. Multiple storage: ties, hidden compartments, easy open, solid zipper. MINOR complaints I have are the suitcase's weight (newer ones are lighter) and my old one has only two height settings for pull-along handle and requires a push-button release to move it up on down, really inconvenient. While it keeps it locked in place, it's REALLY inconvenient. Lastly they're so damn well made I have no excuse to buy a new one!

Thank you for making this video! I was at a Salvation Army Thrift Store today. Saw this bag. Picked it up and did a search on the manufacturer. Came across this review and was kind of shocked that there was an in-depth review of this old thrift store bag. Watched the review and decided to buy it for $10.00. Yes, 10.00! The bag is in good shape but needs a bit of cleaning. Which is easy to justify when I have paid only $10.00 for this price of luggage. Your review made it easier for me to make the decision on the bag. It is slightly used and hardly any sort of wear or damage to it. Only dust.

Good review. I have this bag as I travel for business almost weekly for 3 days each week, typically. That said, I took it on a vacation to Europe and was able to fit a week's worth of clothing in it, though at that point it was not sized as a carry on. It is a great bag...I've had it for approximately 2 years and it still looks like new. The large main compartment is truly cavernous and if you watch videos about proper packing you can fit a ton in this thing. I cannot recommend it highly enough, though get that if you are only an occasional traveler it is rather pricey. If you travel a lot like I do, you'll end up replacing cheaper bags at least annually. I've gone through bags in a matter of a couple of months. Anyway, great bag and great review.

@@Tekuben I bought the spinner version. I don't think it matter because I would be happy with either version. I love this suitcase! Especially the suiter. I don't put suits in it, but just all my clothes. I only hang up a few shifts and just lay rest of the clothes in there and the come out just find after the whole thing is zipped up. The other side I use a large packing cube and put everything else in there. And the best part is that racheting compression feature. That alone is worth the purchase. I also purchased a few other B&R bags. And have to say the expandable cabin bag with the shoulder strap is what I've been using the most. Fits under all airline seats and excellent for week long trips to be so small. Thanks again for your review! Got the same color as yours.

Hi! I guess I am your first commenter. Loved the detail of your presentation...and the fact that this was not a commercial sales pitch. Here is my dilemma: waiting for the AITA recommendations for "Cabin OK" to get gelled (spelling) and wondering if this B & R piece is going to fly? (no pun intended.) The AITA is saying 21 x 13.5 X 7.5 to be guaranteed we won't have to check it in. (I know...ridiculous dimensions...especially I'm not sure you mentioned the exact external dimensions...including handles, wheels, etc. Thanks in advance for clarifying.
@Tekuben
@Tekuben 8 жыл бұрын
+Cheryl Smith Hi Cheryl, thank you for being our first commenter! Your feedback is valuable and very much appreciated. We measured the bag at 21.75 x 16.38 x 10.25 (with handles and wheels included). In our experience, whether a bag gets carried on board or not often depends on if the bag can pass the "eye test". That is, does it look like a carry-on. This particular Briggs and Riley has the benefit of being shorter than most other carry-on bags but also at about a good inch wider. While that's great for packing space, it may get some attention at the gate. Ultimately, it's up to the airline personnel. Getting this bag in Black may help if you are concerned about the dimensions as it will give it a slimmer appearance. Hope this helps!

Been researching this B & R for a while. The storage and organizational aspects look very appealing. However, with it's weight rated at 10 lbs and most international flights allowing 15 lbs for carry-ons, I wonder if price justifies for only 5 lbs of packing? Or, how do frequent travelers using this carry-on handle the weight limits?
@Tekuben
@Tekuben 5 жыл бұрын
This bag is a bit more difficult to recommend now that airlines are restricting the weight of carry-ons. The ultimate selling point of this B&R is the fact that you can pack more in it than other similarly sized bags. It's still stylish, but given its starting weight, if you were to pack to its maximum volume, you'll likely exceed the airline's limit for weight and can't stow it in the cabin. Frequent flyers typically stick with one or two preferred airlines. I think this bag would only make sense for those whose preferred airlines don't have cabin bag weight limits.

I worked for the Airline and this is the best bag I've ever owned. I've had mine for years since 2000 and its been my go to bag forever. Even with checking it it has taken the wear and tear of airline travel. I got mine in New York on sell I won't tell you how much I paid but it was well worth every penny. If you ever clear customs when your luggage has broken you will pay the cost to get good luggage. That's when I spent the extra money to get a good piece of luggage that has never happened again.

No, they are not waterproof. I have the B&R duffle (same color as your highlighted bag) and after retrieving our bag and opening upon arriving at our hotel, noticed that our clothes were wet (not just damp) from the rainstorm at the airport when we landed. Nevertheless, we LOVE our B&R bags. Warranty is exactly as you mentioned; “any damage” that happens to your bag is covered 100% by B&R for life. Some companies will not warranty airline damage (ask us how we know) but B&R covers any damage. You forgot to mention the handle built into the bottom of the bag which helps quite a lot when pulling the bag out from the overhead compartment.

I liked everything until you got to the “strap” to attach another bag to. Most Flight Attendants have a “hook” because it is faster. We don’t have time to be fumbling with that especially when we are in a hurry which is all the time. Maybe suggest or make both
