The Edifier Stax Spirit are well worth a listen for yourself, it is hard to translate my experience to yours, different people want different sounds from their headphones. The STAX spirit S5 are a great example of a people pleasing pair of cans, they do play it safe, but the details are sublime and an audiophile will relish the S5s with the right song. The drivers gently caress your eardrums, some will prefer a mule kick to their ear canals, maybe Edifier aren't the brand for you. Regarding the sound you'd get good bang for your buck with the STAX spirit S5 but well worth trying for yourself first.
