There he is!!! People are asking me to review my Predator Revo, which I'll eventually do. At 2:21, you can see the difference in the shade of black between the shaft and the butt of the cue. The Revo is basically the same thing which is the first thing I didn't really like. It would've been great if the shade of black was the same as the butt of the cue.

This changed my mind from buying revo to switching cue to Mezz and Ignite combo lol. After playing for a bit, definitely enjoyed the hit and feel. However I find myself missing more, especially the rail shot, because I was used to playing with 11.5 tip (modified Z) for so long. Will take time to adjust but it’s a fun cue combo

I got rly obsessed with mezz ignite after watched your review that later I got my very own ignite, second-hand of course. it's by far the best carbon fiber shaft I tried, among which I own a predator revo 12.4 and a pechauer rogue, and my friend's cuetec synergy. it's got the most instant feedback, the firmest hit and lowest deflection (at least to my feeling). The shaft is a bit heavier than others, so every stroke is effortless, just gently send the cue out and let it do the rest. and the cue ball will get there as you intended. Can't believe it's so underrated. Thank you for sharing your honest review. I'm happy about it. Please keep posting interesting clips like this!

Hey Oliver I habe a question for you please. I have never had a Carbon shaft,just qood. Whats the Difference between these shafts? Its like the wood one or its better? Do you preffer this shaft over wood? Thanks
@longoliver5842
@longoliver5842 3 жыл бұрын
@@arijano82 @Arijano A Hi Ari. Your question was quite hard to answer. These carbon fibre shafts are of different qualities, e.g. in balance, diameter, material, taper etc. Also, with different butts and different cue tips, they would differ quite dramatically. Your way of stroke would also affect your preference of one over the others. After a few months of playing with these shafts , I ended up with Pechuaer Rogue as my main shaft, and a Revo 12.4 as a spare. Main reason is that the Rogue shaft hits more like a wooden one, which allows me to "over hit" the cue ball with less energy goes into it. In other words, it's easier to execute positional shot. Revo on the other hand will allow me to do the same with less effort, however it's trickier for me to control my stroke therefore the cue ball. My suggestion is that, if you are unhappy with your wooden shafts, Revo 12.9 would be a good starting point. it's stiff, accurate, low deflection, allows you to execute extreme shots easily. but the most important thing in this game is your technique, way more than any equipment. BUT always try before you buy. Hoping this can help. 😀
@arijano82
@arijano82 3 жыл бұрын
@@longoliver5842 thank you very much Problem is that i can not try them, I have a meucci now but i think its time to have a proper cue
@longoliver5842
@longoliver5842 3 жыл бұрын
@@arijano82 Well, in this case I'll describe my feelings to each of the shafts for you. BUT remember the feeling is quite personal so you may not feel excactly the same as I did. Revo 12.4 is the stiffest, with the least deflection. However it doesn't allow much of " error " when hitting the cue ball because a minor inaccuracy can be magnified to a huge miss-hit to the object ball. Ruthless, if you may. If you are an advanced player with above average cueing, the shaft will make you a better positional shot maker. Revo 12.9 is more suitable for an entry level palyer with a bit more deflection than the 12.4. It accommodates imperfect cueing better, and with larger diameter your stroke power delivery is easier. Mezz ignite is quite unique, as it comes in 12.5 in diameter, and its taper is different with Revo. The stiffness and deflection are similar to REVO. BUT it comes with mezz's joint, which are not compatible to other cue brands. Rogue hits a little bit softer with a sound similar to wooden shafts, which I like. The shaft is made of mixed fibers other than pure carbon fiber, which has wider range of imperfect cueing tolerance. My suggestion is to buy used shafts instead of new ones, to minimize your cost of trying. Hope you get your perfect cue soon~ 😃

i think what it is that mezz dont bother with huge marketing like predator which is why its underrated but once you play with it it is a lot more powerful than any other cue i agree with the tip thing a kamui black clear soft is much better than a medium

I have a question. I have the cuetec carbon 11.8. But i want a new shaft with a bigger taper. Only not to big. Cuetec only has 12.5 and i was thinking about a 12.2 like the ignite 12.2. But now the question, do they play very different? Because i dont know wich one to buy. Im scared the ignite will play very different because im so used to cuetec now. So it will be the ignite or the cuetec 12.5. I hope you know the answer
@TheBilliardCorner
@TheBilliardCorner Жыл бұрын
The ignite will play different. The Ignite is lower deflection than the cuetec and offers more feel and feedback. The taper is also different. Ignite taper is stiffer while the cuetec has a longer extended pro taper. The cuetec brand new has a sniper tip which gives a softer hit. While the ignite has a zan tip which is more crispy and sharp hit. I feel the ignite also offers more power. If you’re use to the cuetec and don’t want change then stick with a cuetec. My personal opinion, I like the ignite better but everyone has their own preferences. Thanks for watching my videos
@genejoe

@@genejoe Practically every shaft on the market has its own unique characteristics and plays different. Essentially you will have to choose what qualities you want. If you’re after the same exact hit as your current cuetec I would recommend you get another cuetec. No problem, free free to shoot any questions you have. For me, the million dollar question is whether you can change tips yourself if you don't have a lathe or access to a "cue guy". The Cuetec I have seems designed for people like me with razor blades and sandpaper - the ferrule is forgiving. The Revo seems less friendly to the traditional approach and Predator suggests sending it to an expert - no good IMO. Any word on where the Ignite fits in for us home tip changers?

Hey mate love from Australia, does the white ‘ferrule’ actually make a difference in sighting when you’re down in shooting position? Contemplating between the white and black vault plate revos as I prefer the bvp but don’t know if my judgement when shooting will be as consistent as the playing with the wvp. Cheers.
@TheBilliardCorner
@TheBilliardCorner 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Michael! The white vault plate is rather minimal when you are down in a shooting position in my opinion. If you have a low stance (chin to cue), then you will barley see it. If you have a high stance (Minnesota Fats style), then you will be able to see it. Lots of players like the white vault plate because its familiar to them. I personally can use both with no issues. In my opinion, the black shaft has a lot of contrast to the white cue ball. Thanks for the love and support!

Suggestion: With deflection tests, the most “objective” way I’ve seen is to use a pivot/bridge length test... Basically you finding pivot point by hitting with X tips of English and adjusting bridge length until the cue ball hits the object ball and basically stops in place, spinning in place. Just a thought. If you need to see how to do this, I believe Dr. Dave has a video doing this.

Just curious, would it be possible to use the Ignite carbon fiber shaft with the butt of a Voodoo cue? I’m new to actually buying my first pool cue, and like the design of the Voodoo cue, but wondering if it’s upgradeable over time? Or do I need to stay within the same manufacture on part upgrades?

Most likely no because the pin on your Voodoo cue is different.

@@TheBilliardCorner I haven’t purchased any cue’s yet, but was thinking the Jacoby shafts look to be more universal with pin connections. Are the links in your video’s to product pages Affiliate links? Would be good to know if they are so that you get something in return for your helpful content. Also thank you for replying so quickly. I’m definitely interested in carbon fiber for it’s anti-warping benefits.

@@TheBilliardCorner Quick question, which model Diamond Table do you have? Is it single or triple slate? And price range for that build? I’m still up in the air about a Brunswick table over Diamond. Also I just ordered my first cue Mezz ACE-184 with Ignite 12.2 shaft that came with a second shaft WX Alpha Shaft. Is there any notes or pointers of what one should get or do to their shaft when they first receive it?
@TheBilliardCorner
@TheBilliardCorner 3 жыл бұрын
@@christopherm7741 Mine is a 7ft Diamond Pro Am table. Single piece slate. I chose a Diamond over a Brunswick because I like how the Diamond table plays. I believe price was around $6000 delivered and installed at the time (prices has went up since then). Triple slate tables are generally bought because of transportation purposes such as setting up a table in the basement or upstairs. Congrats on ordering your new cue. There isn't much to do with a new carbon shaft. The beauty of carbon shafts is that they have much less maintenance. The biggest thing is to NEVER sand or burnish carbon fiber. All that is needed to clean the shaft is to use the provided alcohol wipes.

How is the cycling world fooled by carbon fiber? Sounds like you're spouting some BS right there. Personally I had a fully-lugged steel frame prior to riding a Trek Madone 5.5 and the difference was so drastic in power transfer that I never looked back (in spite of the extra ass-soreness from such a stiff frame!).
@gclh22
@gclh22 3 жыл бұрын
@@explosivehotdogs thats the point you if your not racing you don't need a sore arse when riding a bike. Titanium or stainless steel is light as f and better for most people who own a carbon bike but that's not what the bike industry tell them that. Carbon shafts hit is firm sure,power is better also but do they play as well as a wood shaft for feel NOPE! Carbon break or jump cues makes absolute sense just like a racing bike in carbon. But a playing shaft you need some flex and feel just like say titanium for someone who isn't racing but likes riding a bike. How many pros have now stopped using carbon fiber shafts ?

I have just switched from expro to ignite and all i can say it's the worst shaft i have ever played with. It has so much deflection especially on a harder shots it's unbelievable. It only works with soft shots but every other shaft works with soft shots. Very disappointed with the shaft it's incomparable to the expro.
