Hi Lali, this was a great video, the way you did the side by side was clever as we have a very short audio memory. My take, the cardio sounded thinner, like a suck out, the JBL sounded more dynamic with more lower frequencies, and more spacial, like moving nearer to the centre of the orchestra, a definite improvement. Only problem, after this video, they're going to be of stock!! Showing us more of your brilliant talents.
@AntiParallali4 жыл бұрын
Haha thanks for all the nice comments you've been leaving on my videos! And yeah you're right, the JBL ones sound "deeper" more dynamic than the regular ones...thinner is a good way to describe thr regular ones sound

Nice comparo: I've been using Cardo's Packtalk Slim in my HJC RPHA 70 ST for about two years, and upgraded to the 45mm JBL speakers a bit under a year ago (pretty much the moment they were available). The stock speakers were decent, but the JBLs were/are a noticeable improvement. Earplugs can diminish things somewhat, but I only wear them on longer rides where preserving hearing trumps everything else.

I have the freecom 4+ and the JBL speakers sound great. More importantly is the installation of those speakers when you put your helmet on make sure your finger is inside the helmet pointing and marking out where the center of your ear is with your head in the helmet already and make sure that JBL speaker is mounted directly to the center of your ear. You will have your most volume, best sound and you will be able to here at high speeds with no problem at all.
@GrimYak3 жыл бұрын
listened through them on my monitor speakers and the JBL did have some clarity although only slight, more volume (also slight) that I dont think you would notice at highway speeds with wind noise. If 90 USD is too much for you, keep the old speakers in they are more than enough.

I closed my eyes and listened and it was hard to tell the difference. The regular were just a little more tinny sounding and sounded more distant. However, I think the song chosen was poor to show the difference as that song had very little bass and bass is what generally separates one small speaker from another.
@Thefrostedslime2 жыл бұрын
Especially when you go from regular to something like JBL, which is remarked as having really good bass Such a tiny and mid-high end song really doesn't do the comparison justice

Hi Lali, this is just a quick update on my previous comment. The differences i heard were from my PC. Listening through my audio system shows up the huge difference, with the Cardo, the sound is confined to the TV like monophonic, the JBL sounds twice the volume with beautiful a treble and a wide sound field coming from the space beyond my Dali speakers. ( no relation)

Good Afternoon Miss Lali, As I am deaf in my right ear judging tones is difficult. I like my Cardo system for talking on the phone or chatting with my Lady as we ride. Whether i am wearing my half dome helmet or my full face, Cardo provided extra speakers and microphones for my multiple helmets and except for some wind noise picked up with my Lady's mic (she insists on a half dome helmet) the sound is good enough for both of us. I am impressed that the Cardo can get radio stations when my bike cannot tune one in. The buttons on the side are getting easier to remember functions. I have no feeling in my right hand so it's a good thing it mounts on the left side of the helmet. My left hand is stupid but learning. Would Cardo ever consider modifying for handicapped users? I ask because all manufacturers seem to mount on the left. As a disabled Army combat veteran I have friends without left hands that ride and reaching across while riding creates problems! Thank You and FortNine for the Cardo recommendation. I'm sure those without hearing problems appreciate the JBL speakers. You are in my prayers Hoka Hey

It is nice to provide this video and attempt to give info for the general public, thank you for that. However, one such video nearly persuaded me not to buy the upgrade as a conclusion was the gain does not justify the price. It actually does, it really does! The difference between these types of drivers can't be heard this way since these drivers are meant to be on your ears. Normal older speakers (no matter if Cardo, Sena, etc) just have much more pronounced higher frequency tones, while 45mm JBL brings it closer to the proper levels between bass and treble. You need to hear it in proper use to appreciate it. And then JBL equalizer profiles just give you a little more extra tune to your preference. Hope this opinion helps someone that is on the fence like I was. I really am not sorry I bought it.

I am a big audiophile and quality sound is a must for me everywhere from my home theater to the car to even when riding. I’ve always used earbuds when riding (not for home listening) for a couple simple reasons: 1). The design serves as noise isolation; 2) my earbuds also have active noise cancellation; 3) the bass is simply better than small speakers not matter who makes them again because of the fit. So, I’m curious, how do you rate the audio quality of these JBL helmet speakers to a quality set of earbuds? I’m not at all interested in the communication capabilities of the Cardo or Sena units and my BMW connects to my phone so I don’t have to use the receiver attached to the helmet that contributes to wind noise

I am confused as the presenter and the commentators talk about the regular cargo versus the JBL. However, both the pack talk slim and the pack talk bold (and other cardo units) come with 40 mm JBL speakers. The people who stand to make money say that the 45 mm JBL upgrade is awesome terrific wonderful more bass I can hear better at higher speeds and all that, but at least one reviewer said something like "frankly, I can't hear the difference" .... Talking of the 40 mm JBL versus 45 mm. It's about $100 plus tax and shipping for the 45s.
